Hello everyone! We hope that everyone is enjoying their break. We would also like to wish everyone good luck on their upcoming finals as well as everyone who is going through the college application process. This Newsletter will include a recap of events in Novemeber, Interact District Spotlights, and important reminders. If you know anyone or any club who you believe deserves a spotlight, feel free to email Brianna Carbajal (briannacarbajal.25@gmail.com) the Newsletter Coordinator, so they can be included in a future Newsletter. This also applies to projects and events. Thank you for reading!

Best Wishes, Newsletter Team

Hearts and Hands Recap

Hearts and Hands took place on November 9th. This event was a great opportunity to make a difference in the community by working on several projects. Interactors were able to work on different projects such as cards for children in hospitals, thank you letters for veterans, and hygiene kits that would be distributed to homeless shelters. Lastly, at Hearts and Hands, people were able to create their sticker designs that could used in the Mental Health Walks that will be occurring throughout the district next year.

Spotlight

One Interactor that we feel deserves a Spotlight is Kevin Hernandez Perez. Kevin is a senior in Fullerton Union Interact. His first year with Interact, Kevin joined because he saw others joining and was interested in the club’s message. The aspects of volunteering and giving back to his community were particularly appealing. This is made all the more special by the fact that this is Kevin’s first time joining a service club, as all of his prior experience has been with environmental-based clubs. His favorite event so far has been volunteering with the Long Beach Marathon, and he hopes that people will continue to join Interact because of its purpose in goodwill and service. When Kevin goes to college next year, he is interested in joining or starting a Rotaract and continuing his service with Rotary!

Spotlight

Catalina Ponce is the vice president of the Catalina Island Interact and one of our very own Newsletter Interviewers! She joined Interact to not only help others, but to build character and leadership for future Interactors. Particularly, she aims to help them understand that what we do here isn’t just about helping others; it’s about building character for yourself and enjoying service. Her intention in being an Interactor is to surround herself with people who have the same goals as her. Prior to joining Interact, she was shy and indecisive. During her time in Interact, she has developed a love for socialization and a stronger sense of decision. For the future, Catalina hopes to find more potential Interactors and to prepare them to lead and give back to the people.
