MY BUSINESS LIFE

Ian Parnell Chief Superintendent, Solihull Police Commander e sat down with Chief Supt. Ian Parnell, still relatively new to his post as Solihull Police Commander, to find out what his role entails, partnership working and his aims for the force moving forward…

What does your day-to-day role involve? One of the most enjoyable aspects of policing is that there is no such thing as a normal day. I suppose my role is threefold. Firstly, I am the Police Commander for Solihull. This involves setting the strategic direction for policing in the borough and working closely with my teams and partners to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour. This aspect involves lots of meetings and correspondence from citizens of Solihull. Secondly, I have thematic responsibilities for improving service across all of West Midlands Police. Currently, I lead on prevention and detection of cyber-crime and developing the capability of police officers and staff who work within local policing across all seven boroughs of the West Midlands area. Finally, I support West Midlands Police with a duty and oncall responsibility. I am currently undergoing my accreditation as a Silver Commander to lead the policing response to major events and incidents. This can range from ensuring safety at a large community event through to a large scale disorder. I think it is fair to say that policing is not a 9-5 job and that you learn something new every day.

What drives you every day? People! The people I work with, the people I have the privilege to lead and most importantly the

people of Solihull borough. I always wanted to work in the public sector and make a difference to communities. Helping those who struggle to have their voice heard is important to me. If you don’t care, you would struggle to be a police officer.

How long have you worked for the Police and what has your journey looked like? I am now in my 22nd year as a police officer having joined up in 1999. The landscape has changed significantly but the key skills of being a good copper have not. Being naturally inquisitive, being able to communicate with people and a huge amount of empathy are the key skills that are just as relevant now as they were back in 1999. This is my first posting to Solihull and I am enjoying it immensely. I have spent a lot of my career working as a detective or in an intelligence role so this is a refreshing change for me. That is also a great feature of policing, there are just so many different roles. You never get bored.

You are still relatively new to your role as Solihull Police Commander, how have you found the role and the area so far? I was told the other day that I was becoming defensive about Solihull whenever there was criticism of any aspect of the borough. This made me smile. I have really bought into the role and have a strong sense of belonging. This is my borough too and I reserve the right to be proud of all of the positive qualities, even if I am only an adopted Silhillian. We do have inequality across the borough and some areas need our service more than others. I am enjoying the challenge and of course the lively political dynamic that comes with the role.

There is a strong working partnership between Solihull Police, Solihull BID, Solihull Council, Touchwood and Mell Square in the town centre. How important is that partnership? Partnership working is absolutely critical to success. The strength of the working partnerships at all levels across Solihull has really impressed me. I have been made to feel so welcome by so many people. What is really strange is that I have had to meet most partners in a virtual way due to the pandemic. I think the key to successful partnership working is supporting each other and really understanding where there is an opportunity to collaborate. In my line of work, you tend to deal with the symptoms of broader problems so it is great to be able to work with partners to tackle the root causes.

And finally, what are your aspirations for Solihull Police during your time as Police Commander? I was asked this question at the Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee recently by our new chair, Tony Elvin. I replied that my aim was keeping Solihull a safe and prosperous borough. You cannot look at policing in isolation as there are so many connected issues. High employment, thriving businesses and engaged communities all contribute towards reductions in crime and disorder and making people feel safer. I have set my team priorities to tackle violence, hate crime and exploitation over the next 12 months with a real emphasis on problem solving. I will make sure they are all driven hard to make a difference. We will see more police in Solihull over the next two years due to the national uplift programme. My job is to make sure that their impact is felt locally.

NEWS & DEVELOPMENTS FROM ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S LEADING COMMERCIAL REGIONS

Centrick Talks Property

GARY SAMMONS,

Branch Manager of Centrick Solihull.

ike so many other aspects of our lives, the housing market looks a bit different now compared to 18 months ago. However, the sector is now going from strength to strength, especially in Solihull which continues to be a very attractive area for homebuyers. To get the lowdown on the market and to find out how house buying trends have changed, we spoke to Gary Sammons, Branch Manager of Centrick Solihull. SOLIHULL BID: How has the Coronavirus pandemic affected your business and the housing market in Solihull? GARY SAMMONS: The pandemic has affected virtually every kind of business; likewise, things have certainly changed for Centrick Solihull over the past year. Within the local housing market, we have learnt firsthand how important virtual viewings and video marketing are in helping us to continue to make sales and serve our clients, no matter the restrictions in place. Even before the pandemic, we were already exploring this type of technology and approach to viewings and this stood us in good stead last March! We’re sure that this new virtual viewing format will be a long-term trend within the property market. Looking back over the past year, there was an initial lull during lockdown one - especially across the sales market - due to the unprecedented nature of the pandemic and resulting restrictions. However, since the introduction of the stamp duty holiday, we have seen the market move from strength to strength. On the other hand, residential lettings have remained constant throughout the past 12 months, with the market being as buoyant as always. Interestingly, this is where the power and significance of virtual viewings came to the fore: we saw a higher level of applicants proceed with rentals after partaking in virtual

viewings than originally expected, and this trend hasn’t slowed down in recent months. BID: Do you think the Coronavirus pandemic has made lasting changes to the property market? GS: Of course! Video marketing and virtual viewings will continue to play a vital role within the property market and its marketing. Even when restrictions are eventually scaled back, virtual viewings are largely more accessible for prospective buyers and renters and are pretty close to being pandemic-proof. BID: There seems to be a push by Government for more housing in towns and city centres. Do you expect this to happen and what benefits would this bring? GS: To an extent, this is already evident in Solihull with the recent launch of new luxury residential developments such as Broadoaks and Prince’s Gate. A rise in the supply and demand for housing developments - both regionally and nationally - is something that we see continuing to grow in the future: especially with new government legislation coming into effect from August that will allow commercial premises to be converted into homes. More housing will be hugely beneficial to Solihull town centre: with more residents set to be within walking

distance of several local amenities, this will help to stimulate the local economy. As a result, we expect to see an increase in footfall within the town centre and surrounding areas: in turn, this will have a direct impact on the long-term post-pandemic recovery of the nearby retail, leisure and hospitality businesses.

We think that the launch of this scheme is likely to lead to further transactions across the sales market and will be beneficial for both buyers and sellers. Plus, the rise of affordable city and town centre housing - as seen with local developments such as Broadoaks - will supply the demand for such properties.

BID: Has there been a shift from buying to renting due to the financial instability created by the pandemic?

BID: How does the Solihull housing market stack up against the rest of the region?

GS: Despite the undeniable impact of COVID, the Solihull sales and lettings market has remained buoyant due to a strong, local economy that has continued to adapt and prosper during these unprecedented times. We have not seen a dramatic shift from buying to renting within the market: both have experienced relatively stable growth in the past 12 months. BID: How much of an impact will the new government-guaranteed 95 per cent mortgage loans have on the market? GS: We anticipate that this new scheme will provide first-time buyers with more options and flexibility to get onto the property ladder, especially compared to previous years. With housing prices increasing year-on-year before the pandemic and ever-changing deposit requirements for banks and mortgage lenders, it has not been easy for the majority of buyers to navigate the market.

GS: At present, the Solihull market is strong across both sales and lettings. Several driving factors make the area extremely attractive to families, investors and working professionals alike, such as excellent local schools and outstanding local facilities and transport links. In recent years, we have seen several buyers relocating to Solihull from several regions such as London and the home counties - with some even travelling internationally from the likes of Hong Kong! BID: On the commercial side, has there been any decline in interest for retail units across Solihull and the wider region? GS: Centrick Commercial has found that general interest in retail premises has never been stronger; particularly in Solihull, which continues to be a most sought-after location for both local and national retailers. Additionally, our commercial team have a surplus of registered commercial units ready to commit to suitable retail premises in and around Solihull.

ABOUT CENTRICK Centrick prides itself on being a company of knowledgeable industry experts with a joined up approach to all aspects of residential property. NATIONWIDE adly the Coronavirus pandemic has provided rich pickings for fraudsters. Fraudsters have been preying on Covid-19related support or vulnerability, taking advantage of heightened exposure and anxieties. The Nationwide Solihull branch recently reopened with a new look, complete with a space for community events and talks.

Emma Simons: Yes, some criminals are using the coronavirus to trick people into sharing personal or financial information. In particular sending out emails and texts relating to the virus asking members to update details or log in directly to the internet via a message link. Also, cold callers are asking you to move your money to a ‘safe account’ and strangers offering to buy people’s shopping, and giving them a card and pin, as members are unable to get out.

BID: What are some of the most common scams that your customers come across?

ES: Romance Scams - You meet someone new online. But can you be sure they are genuine? Maybe they’re in another country – say they need financial help to care for someone close to them, avoid persecution or to cover travel expenses to visit you.

Safe Account Scams

Data harvesting through phishing emails and cold calls Data harvesting is when a fraudster contacts you while posing as a reputable organisation in order to obtain and collect your data. Popular organisations that fraudsters like to imitate include: financial institutions, HMRC, TV Licensing, DVLA and telephone or broadband providers. The contact can seem very convincing. Fraudsters can use logos, make small changes to email addresses and website address/URLs. They can even make a text appear in your genuine conversation chain. The unexpected contact is a way to try and trick you into disclosing personal and financial information such as your online banking sign on details, date of birth, card numbers and codes generated by your card reader.

Safe Account Scams You get an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from a trusted organisation such as a bank or building society or the police. They explain your money is at risk– your account’s been compromised in a security breach. Then they reassure you: move your money now to a ‘safe account’ they’ve set up for you, and all will be fine. It’s you who moves that money, not them. And its money you’ve lost for good.

A fraudster will contact you, trying to get you involved with investments that will make you money. They may ask you to part with some money to invest in something like wine, diamonds or alternative energy. But the investment does not exist, and you won’t see any return on any money you put in.

Advanced Fee Scams A fraudster will contact you to ask for an upfront fee in order to receive goods, lottery winnings or a loan you have enquired about. You make the payment – but you don’t receive what you were promised.

BUSINESS PROFILE

WHAT IS A BID AND WHAT DO THEY DO? What area does Solihull BID cover?

What is a Business Improvement District? A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area in which a levy is charged on all business rate payers in addition to the business rates bill. This levy is used to develop projects which will benefit businesses in the local area. Business Improvement Districts, once voted through by the businesses that are subject to the levy, run for a five year term. At the end of the five years, another ballot must be held to see whether the BID continues for another term.

The Solihull BID area only covers the town centre and we are solely funded by the businesses within it. That is why all of the BID’s projects and activities are run to benefit those businesses. You can find a map of the BID area and a list of roads included here: www.solihullbid.co.uk/the-bid-area

What does Solihull BID do to enhance the town centre? Solihull BID was created in 2010 to help support a thriving business community in the town centre. The BID employs a team of Street Wardens and Business Hosts to help provide a visible and reassuring welcome to Solihull town centre.

How does the BID work?

The BID also provides many services across all sectors including the annual Solihull ‘sort of’ Jazz Festival, Solihull Food & Drink Festival, Solihull BID Expo, Solihull BID Excellence Awards and the Christmas activities within the town centre. The dedicated Solihull BID website, social media channels and InSolihull Magazine help raise the profile of the town centre to visitors and investors.

BIDs are run by independent, not-forprofit companies with a controlling board made up of representatives of those businesses involved. The BID Board meets regularly to oversee each project and to take the main decisions on behalf of all businesses.

Public realm has become a key area for the BID too. Five Community Seating Hubs have been brought into the town centre with outdoor dining areas also created in Mell Square and Theatre Square, Touchwood, to support the re-opening of hospitality.

Solihull BID began its third term on August 1st 2020 after over 90% of member businesses voted in favour of a renewal.

Solihull BID was created in 2010 to help support a thriving business community in the town centre.

EVENTS AND FESTIVALS The BID’s events and festivals are making a very welcome return in 2021. From the Wimbledon Big Screen to the Solihull ‘sort of’ Jazz Festival and much-loved Solihull Food & Drink Festival – there’s something for everybody! Find out more about the BID’s events in 2021 by going to www.solihullbid.co.uk/events.

BID PROJECTS AT A GLANCE

CHANGE INTO ACTION The BID, alongside partner agencies, helped set up the Change Into Action charity in 2019. Change Into Action is an Alternative Giving Scheme supporting specialist organisations and outreach services working to change the circumstances of rough sleepers and those at risk of becoming rough sleepers. To encourage more support, the BID is helping to fund contactless donation points across the town centre to ensure those that need help receive it.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

The BID’s Street Wardens worked throughout the lockdowns caused by the Covid pandemic, keeping the town centre secure. They continue to work tirelessly to ensure Solihull remains a safe environment which is achieved thanks to a close working partnership between the BID and Solihull Police, Solihull Council, Touchwood and Mell Square.

Solihull BID’s website attracts 100,000 visitors a year and every business within the BID area is listed on its directory. Businesses are also promoted via the BID’s social media platforms which have 20,000 followers and in the quarterly InSolihull Magazine, read by an average of 30,000 people.

COMMUNITY SEATING HUBS

OUTDOOR DINING AREAS

Five new Community Seating Hubs have been introduced to the town centre (four on the High Street and one in Mell Square). These seating areas provide people with the opportunity to relax in an attractive green area in the middle of the bustling town centre.

Outdoor dining areas have been created in both Theatre Square, Touchwood, and in Mell Square. The new green seating areas allow people to enjoy their favourite restaurants and cafes in a safe and welcoming environment.

Shop Indepen

JAMAYA Despite everything we have all been through over the past 18 months, Solihull still has a strong community of independents, with new additions still popping up in the town centre.

Multi award-winning JAMAYA, who joined Touchwood in March 2019, have been a firm favourite to many ever since. Whether you’re a connoisseur of the Jam Rock, or a jerk-chicken-novice, there’s something for everyone. In Jamaica there is always a reason to celebrate. Despite not being able to bring the legend Bob Marley back to the UK, they figured they would bring the next best thing, and create a quirky, colourful corner of the Caribbean, right here in the heart of Solihull. Join Jamaya as they celebrate the authentic taste of ‘home’ over proper jerk chicken and Jamaican fried chicken, Marley’s beats and décor as vibrant as the Jamaican flag. We had a catch up with their Marketing Manager Deni to find out more about JAMAYA…

What is the story behind the Jamaya brand? This is a part of our “About Us” actually, as the story is very personal: After years of experiencing the Caribbean culture through family stories and delicious cooking, our founder, Byron set off to explore sunny Jamrock on his own… and you know how it is with Jamaica, the colours, music, and outrageous carnival culture is somewhat contagious. So contagious that Byron brought it back with him, on his return to the UK. So, with a love for Jamaica and his daughter (“Maya”) Jamaya was born. And here we are now, spreading the party spirit with every adventurous foodie we meet.

What initially attracted you to Touchwood in Solihull as a destination? Touchwood is a prime location that was looking to collaborate with independent brands to spice up their restaurant offering. This was an amazing opportunity for us, which straight away put JAMAYA on the map. Despite all the challenges of opening next door to big brands such as Nandos, Five Guys, Wagamama, Pizza Express and more, the Solihull community has been very receptive towards new independent brands.

What do you love about being located in Solihull? It’s a lovely community that is open to new independent brands; great support from the BID, Solihull Chamber and Touchwood; lovely customers who have been supporting us from the beginning.

What makes your independent business unique? JAMAYA is an authentic Jamaican jerk and fried chicken restaurant, totally independent yet done to the level of the big international brands that surround it in Touchwood and Solihull in general. We had the challenging task to set the standards of Jamaican dining to the high level required to get a spot in one of the most reputable shopping centres in the entire West Midlands area. There is no other both authentic and independent Jamaican or Caribbean concept such as JAMAYA, which makes it one-of-a-kind.

How has the pandemic affected your businesses? We were forced to close initially, like most other venues. However, with the support of Touchwood, we managed to reopen soon enough. They set up a special drivers pick up point for us so that we can offer delivery service. We stayed open for our customers which helped strengthen our relationship with them. The weekly takeaway was many people’s last point of “normality” and we received countless messages on social media

“we received countless messages on social media filled with love and gratitude for being open” filled with love and gratitude for being open. We also managed to partner with Meals for the NHS and supplied hundreds of meals for several different local hospitals.

How has your business diversified as a result of this? We are launching our own Click & Collect system which will not only allow customers to order for collection but also dining in customers can use it to quickly place their orders.

What is your bestselling dish? Our Jamaican fried chicken is super popular, alongside the proper jerk. The Jam Chicken & Rice is one of the best-selling products as it offers a perfect combination of fried chicken, rice and peas and flavourful jerk gravy.

What excites you about the future of your business? The pandemic has been hard on all of us. However, we feel like we had the chance to stay open and maintained the relationship with our customers, which is now stronger than ever. We have big plans for the future, which we can talk about pretty soon! 21

ummer BBQs are just touching distance away and whilst many of us will be making the most of our gardens and holidaying in the UK this year, the team at Turtle Bay Solihull are kindly sharing some of their recipes to help recreate a Caribbean getaway in our back gardens or on our staycation. Serving up Caribbean sunshine has never been easier as catch ups with friends and family are also on the menu. From the ultimate jerk marinade, which is perfect for all BBQs, to delicious cocktails, summer get-togethers just got the island treatment.

COCKTAIL TIME Here’s a recipe for the Turtle Bay ultimate favourite - the Reggae Rum Punch. It’s built in the glass so it’s a great cocktail to start with if you’ve never made a cocktail before - you don’t need any fancy bar equipment. The recipe has been tweaked slightly from the restaurant to make sure you can get all the ingredients easily. If you opt for the overproof rum, it does pack a punch so we do recommend sticking to the quantities in the method!

YOU WILL NEED Overproof White Rum (we use Wray & Nephew) - but any white rum works if you don’t have overproof Fresh Lime Juice Orange Juice Pineapple Juice Grenadine Syrup

Jerk Marinade recipe.... A jerk marinade is the perfect way to bring a burst of flavour to your bbq or dinner. It’s a sticky, sweet, spicy and tasty flavouring for meat usually chicken. And you can also use it to flavour vegan alternatives like tofu if you want. It’s delicious and easy once you know how, making it the ultimate way to impress your family and friends. A blender or food processor Something delicious to marinate 5 spring onions 1 onion 2 cloves garlic 1 teaspoon grated ginger 1 scotch bonnet pepper for a mild taste - you can use 2 if you can handle the heat! Other types of hot chilli pepper work if you can’t find scotch bonnet, but they are likely to be milder so you might need more. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme (or ½ tablespoon of dried thyme will work instead) 1 tablespoon brown sugar 2 teaspoon ground allspice 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 100ml orange juice 75ml soy sauce 60ml vinegar 2 tablespoon oil

METHOD 1

Turn up the TUNES! Cooking without music is no fun at all. Head to Turtle Bay’s Spotify for some playlists to bring your kitchen to life.

2

Roughly chop the onion, spring onion and garlic

3

Next up, chop the chillis – make sure you wear gloves or use a plastic bag to keep the spice off your hands. Don’t forget the seeds are the spiciest part!

4

Then you simply add all the ingredients to your blender and wizz for a couple of minutes or until it’s a nice smooth consistency.

5

All that’s left is to pour over chicken or your chosen food to marinate and leave for at least three hours so the flavours really get to work. We like to leave our chicken for 24 hours overnight in the fridge – but can you wait that long?

6

Place on the BBQ and go for it!

METHOD Makes 1 Reggae Rum Punch

1

Fill glass with ice

2

40ml Rum

3

20ml Grenadine

4

20ml Lime juice

5

Top up with orange and pineapple juice

Turtle Bay Solihull’s all-day food menu boasts a wide selection of Caribbean soul food and grazing options from their island-inspired breakfast dishes to the Jerk Pit BBQ; comforting curries to clean-eating inspired Buddha Bowls; plus an excellent range of burgers, beach salads and sides. Turtle Bay is also home to one of the biggest vegan collections on the high street with incredible plant-based treats in abundance across the entire menu- from breakfast to mains, desserts and snacks. The reopening of Turtle Bay will also see the return of their Bottomless Brunch every single day, providing plenty of scope for guests to make their social debut all week long. A two hour long Caribbean cocktail and brunching experience, the Bay’s Bottomless Brunch is a sunshine-filled catch up event like no other and includes unlimited tropical cocktails, mocktails, Red Stripe, and prosecco, all to a soundtrack of laid-back reggae beats. The Commonwealth’s roots go back to the British Empire. But today any country can join the modern Commonwealth. The last country to join the Commonwealth was Rwanda in 2009. WIMBLEDON IN SOLIHULL!

NEW BALLS PLEASE!

LOCAL INTEREST The British number one player is now Solihull’s own Dan Evans who is going from strength to strength in 2021. The 31-year-old earned his first ATP Tour title at the Murray River Open in Melbourne in February. He then shocked world number one Novak Djokovic on his way to the last four of the Monte Carlo Masters in late April so there’s high hopes for the Silhillian at Wimbledon.

njoy one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the heart of Solihull with our Wimbledon big screen! The large screen will be located in Mell Square, from Monday July 5th – Sunday July 11th, showing the final week of the Wimbledon tennis championships as the tournament reaches its thrilling conclusion. There will be benches and deckchairs available so you can sit back, relax and get into the Wimbledon spirit right here in Solihull. Get the new balls, strawberries and cream ready - we’ll see you in Solihull town centre!

FUN FACTS 1 2 3

The first Wimbledon championship took place in 1877, making it the oldest tennis tournament in the world. During the tournament, 54,250 tennis balls are used. The balls are replaced after every seven to nine games to make sure they’re in perfect shape throughout the match. Those not in use are even stored in a refrigerated container to keep them in tip-top condition. Wimbledon rules state that all players must be dressed almost entirely in white. Umpires can ask a player to change if they don’t meet the dress code.

4 5 6

Every year, 24 tons of Kent strawberries are ordered for the Championships at Wimbledon. The longest match ever played at Wimbledon took place at the 2010 tournament. John Isner of the United States defeated French player Nicolas Mahut in a match that lasted 11 hours and five minutes and was played over the course of three days. Some tennis players let out a loud grunt on the court while hitting the ball. The loudest known grunt during Wimbledon came from Russia’s Maria Sharapova in 2009. It reached about 105 decibels - the equivalent of standing beside an accelerating motorcycle!

Well, hello there Solihull Food Festival! e’re delighted to announce that Ainsley Harriott, one of the country’s favourite chefs for the past three decades, will be headlining the Solihull Food & Drink Festival 2021! With events finally returning to the town centre, we were determined to make sure the much-loved Food & Drink Festival came back with a bang this year! So, who better to lead the celebrations than the fantastic Ainsley Harriott? Awarded an MBE for his services to broadcasting and the culinary arts, Ainsley will be bringing his fresh, fun, and energetic approach to food to Solihull town centre with cooking demos and a book signing. We sat down with Ainsley for a quick chat ahead of his trip to Solihull so you can get to know more about the nation’s favourite…

We are so excited to have you. What originally inspired you to become a chef? I think spending an entire Summer on Île de Ré in France and cooking with the family – it became an all-day long event. Going to markets daily to buy fresh ingredients, going fishing and catching fresh fish, then coming back and taking our time to enjoy the preparation of the meal and then sitting down, often for hours, to eat.

What has the highlight of your career been so far?

Where do you get your amazing energy from?!

Being able to share my knowledge with people through my tv programmes and obviously my M.B.E. I think my late mother would have been so, so proud of that. They are definitely two of the big highlights.

I think life is energy – when you speak to people, you give them energy and then they respond and give you energy back. People are not aware that if you have that ability – you plug each other in; you re-charge each other. So, it’s a people thing and not everybody has it, but it’s a gift that someone’s given me – the powers that be.

You’re having friends over for dinner tonight, what’s on the table? Well, if I’ve been busy filming it’s normally a one pot wonder, something like a Creole Jambalaya which is wonderful. I normally have a bit of homemade ice cream in the fridge – so some vanilla ice cream with a very nice quick chocolate sauce, topped with some homemade, crunchy honeycomb, which I normally have in a tub in the cupboard. You sprinkle it on top - people just love it. Some beautiful white wine too!

Who is your hero? Well, if you’re talking football, it’s probably Ian Wright. If you’re talking cooking, it’s probably Graham Kerr – the Galloping Gourmet. He made me want to cook and he made me want to entertain people whilst cooking.

When you are not in the kitchen, where can you be found? I’d probably be found down at the Emirates Stadium or on a tennis court - playing tennis or walking my dog by the River Dee – because he likes to have a bit of a swim. So do I – but only if I can feel the old terra firma underneath me whenever I drop my feet down!

What advice would you give to young people entering the hospitality industry? You need dedication and passion, because you are working long, unsociable hours. If you think about when people go out to eat at lunchtime or perhaps in the evening, that’s when most of them are having their breaks – to recharge their batteries - you need to work hard and deliver what they need. So, feel passionate about doing that for them, once you do, what a fantastic industry to be in.

Enjoy street food and bars, free live cooking demonstrations, family entertainment, taster tent, voucher booklet and rum and reggae zone featuring UB40 tribute Rats in the Kitchen and many more. Visit www.solihullbid.co.uk for more information.
