Ste. Anne Lions Club Hosts Thrilling Murder Mystery Fundraiser
The Ste. Anne Lions Club transformed a typical evening into an exciting journey back to the 1950s with their recent murder mystery fundraiser event. Themed around the vibrant era of poodle skirts and rock ‘n’ roll, the evening featured a captivating murder mystery performance that kept attendees on the edge of their seats.
The event was a creative and engaging way for the community to come together and support a worthy cause. Guests were encouraged to dress in 50s attire, adding an extra layer of fun and authenticity to the atmosphere.

In addition to the murder mystery, the fundraiser included a 50/50 draw and a silent auction. The 50/50 draw gave participants a chance to win a cash prize while simultaneously contributing to the fundraiser. The silent auction showcased an array of items donated by local businesses and community members, generating enthusiastic bidding and further boosting the event’s success.
“The turnout was fantastic, and the energy in the room was palpable,” said Lion Member, Janet.
“Everyone had a great time solving the mystery and participating in the auction. It was wonderful to see the community come together for such an enjoyable evening.”
Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the Ste. Anne Lions Club’s various community
service projects. The funds raised will help provide essential services and support to those in need within the Ste. Anne community.
“We are thrilled with the success of the evening,” said Lion, Janet. “The combination of the 50s theme, the murder mystery, and the fundraising activities created a truly memorable event. We are grateful for the community’s generous sup -

port and participation.”
The Ste. Anne Lions Club extends its heartfelt thanks to all the attendees, volunteers, and donors who contributed to the event’s success. Their support ensures that the club can continue its mission of serving the community.
For those who missed out, the Lions Club hints at more exciting events in the future. The club encourages everyone to stay tuned and join in the fun while making a positive impact on the community.

Ste. Anne Food Bank’s Fundraising Effort Exceeds Expectations
The Ste. Anne Food Bank, known as the Accueil Kateri Centre, recently hosted its annual fundraising event with remarkable success. Despite a modest turnout, the community-driven sale of books, puzzles, native perennials, and various garage sale items exceeded all expectations, raising a total of $900. This amount marks a significant 50% increase from last year’s total.
Every item was affordably priced at $3 each or 2 for $5, with all proceeds dedicated to purchasing new books for the children’s literacy projects that serve registered families at the food bank. The funds raised will greatly support the Ste. Anne Food Bank’s mission to foster a love of reading among children in the community.
“The book sale was a terrific

success,” said Annette, a member of the centers literacy team. “We are overjoyed by the support we received, and it’s heartwarming to see so many pleased readers at the end of the day.”
In addition to the funds raised, the

event received a further boost from First Book Canada, the food bank’s primary book supplier. They hosted a pop-up event in Winnipeg, where the food bank collected 200 free children’s books.
“This couldn’t have come at a bet-
ter time,” added Annette. “We are now well-stocked for our Christmas book and snack bags and have a great selection for our little library and the annual Food Bank barbecue’s book giveaway.”
The Ste. Anne Food Bank / Accueil Kateri Centre literacy team—comprising Rachel, Lorie, Lauren, Les, and Annette, extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated books, made purchases, and supported the cause.
“Growing readers takes a village, your love of reading and commitment to children’s literacy make all the difference.”
With this year’s successful event, the Ste Anne Food Bank is poised to continue making a positive impact on children’s literacy in the community.

Little Funk Library
Hello June,
I always feel like a busy bee come May-June with sports, end of school, gardening, yard work and just the seasonal change. It’s hard to find time to sit and read, but I am making it a conscious effort to do so and other things that bring me joy. I was recently published as an author with my 2 poems in the Women Like Me Community Book: The Whispers Within - The Power of Womans Intuition. I will be sharing a few copies in the libraries soon. I can now happily cross that off my bucket list! Talking about bucket lists, do you have one? I feel like I have a short mental note one only but I have recently found a guided bucket list book at the dollar store and I find it very empowering to write down your goals, dreams and wants. I encourage you to write them down so you get the satisfactory visual of seeing them crossed off when completed.
June is a month for the boys and men in our lives. It is Men’s Health Month which concentrates on the physical and mental health and strategies to assist with a healthy balance. As well, Fathers day is June 16. I hope you find time for discussion and memory making.

We are off to our seasonal camping again this year at Grand Beach and hope to have our sharing box out in Bay 12 soon! Meanwhile our Little Funk Library isn’t active at all and could use some visitors but our Richer Readers’ Library Location is very active and I can’t keep up with teen books. Please Help if you can!
Thank you for all your Donations and visits !
Happy Reading !
