SHANTANU NAIDU A YOUNG ASSISTANT OF RATAN TATA

Shantanu Naidu is a well-known and motivating millennial who is a social activist, an animal lover, an author, and a budding businessman. He is Ratan Tata’s general manager, but he is also referred to as Tata’s assistant by some.

Shantanu Naidu has been referred to as Ratan Tata’s millennial friend. There are numerous images of the two conversing and enjoying at various occasions. By outlining a new philosophy of life, Shantanu has emerged as a sort of role model who has improved society.

WHO IS SHANTANU NAIDU ?

Shantanu Naidu, born in Pune in 1993 into a Telugu family, has always stood out from other kids of his age. The young man, now 28 years old, has established himself as a wellknown figure in the business world. He has always had a sensitive side and has been somewhat of a young achiever. Even the nearby animals are taken care of by him. His successes are impressive and worthy of discussion. He was a founding member of a student group called Motopaws that helped street dogs live fulfilling lives. Because of this, he got the idea to create denim collars with reflectors to protect street dogs from being run over by moving cars. Naidu subsequently saved many dogs as a result of this action.

HERE’S THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF SHANTANU NAIDU

Shantanu Naidu joined the Tata Group as a Design Engineer after receiving his Mechanical Engineering degree from Pune University in 2014. One day, as he was making his way home from work,

he noticed a dead dog lying in the middle of the road. “I’ve always had a particular spot in my heart for dogs and helped save many of them. Therefore, I was really sad upon seeing a stray dog in that state. When another vehicle ran over the body as I was standing there contemplating pulling it to the side of the road, I was devastated, “Added Naidu.

Naidu wanted to take action because he loves dogs. So, with the aid of his friends, he created a collar for dogs. The collar had reflectors on drivers to see the dog from a distance. The next day, he rode with his friends to collar the stray dogs.

In a Humans of Bombay interview, he claimed,

I wasn’t sure if it would work, but the next morning I awoke to a message informing me that a dog had been saved thanks to the collar. It was a fantastic feeling!

His initiative received high praise, and it was even highlighted in the newsletter for the Tata group of companies. The industry was delayed by a lack of funding as the demand for collars quickly fell dramatically. Then, because Ratan Tata also loved dogs, his father asked him to write him a letter. Initially, he hesitated, but later reasoned, why not? I then actually wrote him a note, which I soon forgot about.

After two months, Naidu received a letter from Ratan Tata that was signed, and that letter forever changed his life. Tata expressed his desire to meet the young employee in addition to praising the initiative.

A few days later, I ran into him at his Mumbai office,” said Naidu. Your work profoundly touches me, he told me. Even now, remembering it gives me chills. Our friendship started when he brought me to his home to meet his dogs, and he also helped us with funding!

Later, Naidu left India to pursue an MBA at Cornell University. Still, before leaving, he committed to Tata that upon his return, he would devote his life to working for the Tata Trust, which the eminent industrialist gladly accepted.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Shantanu Naidu recalled how Ratan Tata called him upon returning to India and made him an assistant offers. As soon as I returned to India, he called and said, “I have a lot of work to do in my office. Would you like to help me out? — I was unsure of how to respond. I then took a deep breath before responding, “Yes,” shortly after.”

Naidu has found all these in one superhuman, Ratan Tata, whereas people his age have difficulty finding the right group of friends, the right mentor, and the right kind of Boss. People call him Boss with affection, but Naidu prefers to refer to him as the “Millennial Dumbledore” because she believes that name best describes him.

His invention, Motopaws, is active in 20 cities and four nations. He also wrote the book I Came Upon a Lighthouse, describing his interactions with Ratan Tata. He also launched the “On Your Sparks” initiative, where he offers advice to aspiring business owners. His webinar fee, which supports the growth of Motopaws, a project to ensure animal safety, is charged.

SHANTANU NAIDU’S SALARY AND NET WORTH

He offers live online lectures every Sunday on his Instagram account for a fee of Rs 500 per participant. These funds support the Motopaws NGO, which works to improve the lives of stray dogs. Motopaws, his organization, is now present in 20 cities and four nations.

According to various media portals, his salary is not disclosed, so the amount may not be an accurate estimate. He may be receiving additional payments from the Tata Group and his regular salary. In addition, his organization and online talks have contributed to his net worth of Rs 5–6 crores.

CONCLUSION

Shantanu Naidu is a successful and inspirational entrepreneur. He has made an incredible contribution to the world and has clearly shown the sacrifices one needs to make to achieve their goals. Even though he was a successful businessman before, he was driven by his love for dogs, which led him to leave one of the biggest companies in the world.

GC Advisory

media, and technology sectors and has been actively involved in thought leadership initiatives with industry associations. In the past five years, she has been a part of the entrepreneurial community and has played a crucial role in establishing and growing sustainable lifestyle initiatives. Currently, she leads the finance function and growth plans of General Carbon and contributes to sustainability disclosure and transaction advisory practice areas. Her area of specialisation includes non-financial disclosures and assurance standards and guidance, including ISAE 3000 and SAE 3410.

This read comprises excerpts from the conversation held with the CEO, who has made significant strides in taking the company higher from the position it was in after the market dip. Today, the steady presence of the organisation in its respective field has been said to be the outcome of the new-age business philosophy introduced by Priyanka in the company’s operations. There is a lot more to explore when it comes to the success story of GC Advisory; ergo, trimming the fat, let’s dive into the narrative.

Company Overview

With the evolving business landscape, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability advisory services have come to play an important role in allowing companies to integrate sustainable practises into their business operations. Today, companies have become sensitive enough to mitigate the risks associated with environmental and social impacts due to their business practises. Hence, to curtail the damage to the environment as well as generate long-term value for their stakeholders, ESG/sustainability advisory assists in identifying ESG risks and opportunities, developing sustainability strategies, improving sustainability performance, and providing guidance on ESG disclosures and reporting. It also helps companies stay in line with the changing regulatory landscape, meet stakeholder expectations, and build a positive reputation, thereby lending them a competitive advantage in the market.

On that note, GC Advisory Services (GC Advisory) has come up with newage solutions to offer to modern-day businesses to help ensure that a nurturing landscape can be developed without straining nature. To explore the length and breadth of the company, we decided to conduct a one-on-one interview with the CEO of the company, Priyanka Pothana, who walked us through various aspects of the company. She is a chartered accountant who was associated with KPMG for over seven years. Accumulating diverse experience, she has worked with clients hailing from the financial services,

In 2009, General Carbon Advisory was established as a contributor to developing structured carbon and climate finance transactions in Southeast Asia and India. The team of ESG and sustainability advisors communicate with company leaders about the value of ESG and sustainability and how it can be tailored to meet investor concerns. The establishment also collaborates with various departments, including human resources, operations, EHS, CSR, supply chain, and product development and marketing teams, to enhance sustainability performance. Additionally, they help clients with ESG and sustainability disclosures using various frameworks such as GRI, IIRC, BRR, CDP, DJSI, and TCFD. The company offers strategy and operations improvement consulting to the energy, water, and waste sectors. They support renewable energy businesses in areas such as project management, power sales, management of REC and carbon revenues, and mergers and acquisitions.

At present, the team has over 30 expert advisors with extensive technical, regulatory, and financial experience in sustainability across different sectors. Their clients applaud the experience of their advisors, who have been involved with the first reporters in India and Asia since 2000 and have witnessed the evolution of sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks.

Meet the brain behind GC Advisory.

Dr Rambabu is a renowned thought leader in the field of Asian sustainability and climate change, with a wealth of experience in the industry. Previously, he held key positions such as Managing Director at Cantor CO2e Asia and Head of Sustainability and Climate Change Practise in Asia at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has provided invaluable advice on sustainability reporting and performance improvement to various companies under the Tata Sons umbrella, ITC, and numerous multinational organisations.

With over 35 years of experience in consulting, research, and teaching, Dr. Rambabu has established himself as an expert in governance, sustainability, and climate change. He has successfully led over 200 sustainability assignments, which were sponsored by prominent organisations such as the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the World Bank, and UNDP. In addition, he has advised the Government of India and state governments on streamlining the environmental clearance

process and has been involved in several Central Governmentinitiated committees and task forces to develop standards for environmental sustainability in industrial development. Dr Rambabu has also provided valuable guidance to the Indian Judiciary in environmental litigation matters.

The worth-mentioning fact is that Priyanka Pothana is Dr. Rambabu’s daughter, who is carrying forward his legacy and taking the organisation to greater heights owing to her strategic approach to business expansion and client relationship management. Since Priyanka took over as CEO, Dr. Rambabu has become the company’s mentor and advisor and guides her based on his expertise in the industry.

The USPs

The most considerable competitive advantage gained by GC Advisory in this industry is the legacy of its leadership team, which is enriched with the insights and expertise of highly dedicated and adept professionals hailing from the ESG and sustainability space. The top management at the company has more than three decades of extensive ‘know-how’ in delivering the most effective solutions to clients, which has garnered worldwide applause. Owing to this proficiency, the thought leaders of the company are regularly invited to share their valuable industry knowledge at globally acknowledged conferences such as the World Economic Forum.

The sectoral expertise accumulated by the company after serving more than 200 clients so far has offered them a distinct view of curating solutions, which is indeed commendable. Additionally, in terms of geographical reach, be it working across Southeast Asian regions or African regions, they have been able to establish a firm market presence. Policy advocacy at the government level as well as the global level offered by the leadership panel of GC Advisory is something that speaks volumes of the impact induced by it in this space.

“Above all, the benchmarks set up by us in project delivery, service execution, and technical implementation are inimitable in the market. And this is how we are ceaselessly adding value to society and getting an edge in the area,” Reveals Priyanka.

The Leadership Mantra

When it comes to leading at the forefront, Priyanka believes in nurturing collaborative leadership, where she asserts taking her team members together to greater heights. She encourages her followers to put their ideas forward and suggest the best possible solution for the company’s growth. Her leadership style allows each employee to make free-willed decisions that help in their personal as well as professional growth. And the non-hierarchical culture established by the top management endorses her practises effectively. The leadership outlook of the company is not restricted to business growth alone; the culture facilitates the upskilling of the workforce and encourages them to learn new things that could allow them to reach better positions in their corporate trajectory.

GC Advisory has been awarded Asia’s Top Carbon Management Company for two consecutive years. Not only this, but their clients’ success is also something the leadership takes immense pride in. Needless to mention, their clientele has received accolades and recognition for their sustainable practises at the global level.

Single Use PLASTIC TO BAN IN INDIA FROM JULY: HABITS You should Change

India is considering a ban on single use plastic products in an effort to reduce pollution and save the environment. The country has already banned the manufacture and sale of such products, with a plan to phase out their use by 2022. If you’re living in India and haven’t started changing your habits yet, now is the time to do so. Here are some tips on how you can make the switch.

Why a Ban on Single-Use Plastic?

A ban on single-use plastic is needed in India because of the damage it does to the environment. Single-use plastic is a problem because it takes thousands of years to break down. When it is recycled, it often ends up in landfills or the ocean. Banning single-use plastic will help to protect the environment and save money. It will also reduce waste that has to be handled and disposed of.

What will happen if you don’t stop using single-use plastics?

If you don’t stop using single-use plastics, you will eventually be forced to stop. This is because plastic doesn’t biodegrade, which means it will keep accumulating in the environment and polluting it. Single-use plastics also impact human health. They can harm animals that

get caught in the debris they create, and they can accumulate in human bodies over time. This can lead to health problems such as obesity and cancer. If you want to help the environment, reduce your use of single-use plastics. You don’t have to go completely Plastic-free – just make some simple changes to your habits that will have a big impact on the planet.

The Benefits of a Plastic Ban in India:

A plastic ban is a policy change that aims to reduce the amount of single-use plastic products in the world. The benefits of such a ban are many and varied, and they include environmental and economic benefits. Environmental benefits of a plastic ban in India include reducing the amount of harmful waste that is produced each year. This waste includes plastic that is not recyclable or compostable. A plastic ban in India would help to reduce this waste accumulation, which is a major environmental problem.

A plastic ban in India would also have an impact on the economy in other ways. For example, it would create new jobs in the recycling industry. Additionally, it would increase demand for sustainable products, which would boost the economy overall.

How to Start Reducing Your Use of Single-Use Plastics

Starting from July 1st, India will ban the use of single-use plastic items. This means that all plastic items, including bags, bottles, plates, cutlery and cups, must be used once and then disposed of properly. This is a big step forward for India, as the country has been struggling with the problem of pollution and waste disposal for years. According to reports, over 150 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year in India. This amount exceeds the total weight of all human beings on Earth!

The ban on single-use plastics is a good first step towards reducing this figure. It will encourage people to switch to more sustainable methods of waste disposal, and it will help to reduce the pollution caused by plastic materials.

What to do if You Forget to Bring Your Reusable Bags with You on Your Trip?

If you are planning a trip to India, it is important to remember to bring your reusable bags with you. If you forget to bring them, there are several things you can do to make your trip ecofriendlier. First, you can go without the plastic bag altogether. This may be difficult if you are used to carrying around a lot of plastic bags, but it is definitely possible. Simply carry around what you need in cloth or paper bags.

Another option is to buy reusable bags from the store. These bags usually cost a little more than the disposable ones, but they are worth it in terms of environmental impact. Finally, if buying reusable bags is not an option for you, consider bringing your own reusable bag liner. This will help protect the contents of your bag from getting dirty and dirty fingerprints on the actual bag.

Instead of Plastics, Use Cotton Bags

Cotton bags are not only eco-friendly, but they’re also incredibly durable. Plus, they’re reusable, so you can save a lot of money in the long run. Not to mention, they make a great environmental statement. If you’re still not convinced, consider this: according to The Guardian, each bag uses around 20 plastic bags. So, by using cotton bags instead of plastic, you’ll be helping to reduce pollution in India.

Conclusion

Starting from July 1st, single-use plastic items such as shampoo bottles and water bottles will no longer be available for purchase in India. This ban is being put in place to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills, where it takes up space and can cause damage to ecosystems.

If you are like most people, you probably use a lot of singleuse plastics every day without even realising it. Changing your habits and using more reusable materials instead could make a huge impact on the environment. So, be sure to take note of this new rule when it goes into effect next month.

Poorest Countries 10 of the world where fighting for tummy is more than arms

Studying The Richest Nations Of The Globe Can Be Glamorous And

Aspirational, But It’s Also Crucial To Be Aware Of Those At The Opposite End Of The Wealth Distribution.

One of the main strategies used by organisations like the UN to enhance the general standard of living for the residents of poorer countries is to assist those nations in strengthening their financial positions. The natural resources, educational system, political stability, and national debt of a country are only a few of the many elements that affect wealth.

Although not all, the majority of the world’s poorest nations are also among the least developed, commonly referred to as third world countries or, less generously, as undeveloped countries.

Poorest nations

In the four-tiered World Bank rating system, the poorest nations in the world are categorised as low-income economies. The gross national income (GNI) per capita for each nation, which is the total national income divided by the population, is the basis for this ranking. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and GNI are extremely similar. Both measurements calculate the total dollar worth of all products made in a nation, while GNI additionally incorporates revenue from overseas sources (such as foreign investments or real estate holdings). Because of this, GNI is regarded as a marginally more accurate indicator of a nation’s economic health.

The riches and resources of the world are sufficient to guarantee that everyone has access to a minimal quality of living. However, people in the three most impoverished nations in the world— Burundi, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic— continue to live in abject poverty. Other obvious candidates for the unfavourable distinction of being the poorest of the poor, such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Lebanon, have endured years of military, social, and political unrest, making any judgement impossible due to the dearth of accurate economic data.

But how do we gauge one country’s richness or poverty in relation to another?

While GDP per capita is frequently regarded as the benchmark indicator, the purchasing power parity (PPP), which accounts for variations in living expenses and inflation rates, might provide a more accurate picture. Taking the same benchmark, here, we put some light on the poorest countries in the world.

10. Democratic Republic of the Congo: per capita income 2020- $550

The Congo has endured decades of violent rule, political instability, and unrelenting conflict since obtaining independence from Belgium in 1960. After Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the son of eminent opposition leader Etienne Tshisekedi, was elected president in 2019, the nation turned to a new path. He has challenging duties ahead of him. The controversial Joseph Kabila, who had been president since taking over for his murdered father in 2001, is credited with putting a stop to the

“Great African War,” which is thought to have resulted in up to 6 million deaths, either directly from warfare or from illness and starvation. He did little, nevertheless, to enhance the lives of those who had survived the conflict. Contrarily, a new financial record leak demonstrates how, while in office, he utilised a private bank to syphon off nearly $138 million in public cash. About 75 percent of the 90 million people who live in the nation still make less than $2 each day.

9. Niger: per capita income 2020- $540

Niger tops the UN’s human development report as the world’s poorest nation thanks to factors including a GNI per capita of $540, a life expectancy of 60.4 years, and a mean 2 years of education (as opposed to an expected 5.4). According to World Bank statistics from 2014, the country’s 21.5 million people, or 44.5% of the population, live in extreme poverty.

Concern, an NGO, has been working in Niger for 16 years, assisting communities as they face a slew of development issues aggravated by terrorist invasions, migration, climate change, and excessive population growth. Poverty manifests itself in Niger as high levels of food insecurity, illnesses such as chronic malaria, and limited access to utilities like as water and sanitation. Agriculture-related crises have exacerbated hunger and nutrition concerns that have afflicted much of the Nigerien population in the previous 20 years, risking the lives of millions of people. This has resulted in three significant crises in the recent decade.

7. Central African Republic: per capita income 2020- $510

Armed rebel groups are able to operate in the country and control substantial portions of the national territory because the Central African Republic has a weak central government. Additionally, the employment of Russian mercenaries by the government to keep the peace enrages Western nations. Due to ongoing conflict, Sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP growth for our estimate period of 2026 is anticipated to be significantly below average. In the future, it will be crucial to keep an eye on the development of a new constitution, which is expected to strengthen the president’s authority, as well as the adoption of bitcoin, which was recognised as legal cash earlier this year.

6. Afghanistan: per capita income 2020- $500

Afghanistan is still among the least developed nations in the world even though it has confirmed undiscovered mineral reserves worth over a trillion dollars. Over 23% of its workforce is unemployed, and nearly 50% of its people live in poverty. The primary cause of all of this has been the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, which not only discourages significant foreign investment and assistance supplies but also has an adverse impact on public health across the board. Afghanistan has always looked for international investment to help its economy. The US Biden administration has blocked Afghanistan’s $9.5 billion worth of assets in order to further harm the country’s economy.

5. Sierra Leone: per capita income 2020- $490

In the middle of the 2010s, the Ebola virus rocked the economy, having an effect on employment and trade after a protracted civil war that concluded in 2002. This year’s import price spike due to the conflict in Ukraine has hurt consumers’ purchasing power and sparked violent anti-government rallies in August. A small export base, primarily made up of base metals, timber, diamonds, and cocoa, inadequate governance, and constrained fiscal space all restrain the economy. With growth projected to be only marginally above Sub-Saharan Africa’s average during the coming years, Sierra Leone will probably become the thirdpoorest nation in the world in 2026. The results of the elections in 2023 will be a crucial event to follow.

4. Madagascar: per capita income 2020- $480

Madagascar, the world’s fourth-largest island, sits 400 kilometres off the coast of East Africa. Despite being renowned for its

8. Liberia: per capita income 2020- $530

Liberia, the oldest country in Africa, was torn apart by civil wars from 1989 to 2003. Despite the fact that peace now outlasts conflict, the GNI per capita is only $530, and the average life expectancy is 63. The West African Ebola pandemic of 2014–16, which infected 10,675 Liberians and claimed 4,809 lives, also had a severe impact on Liberia. According to the World Bank’s most recent study of the nation, conducted in 2016, roughly 51% of the population was assessed to be living below the poverty line, leaving a lasting impact on the livelihoods of survivors. Even though 10 years of education are recommended, the average Liberian barely finishes 4.7 years of school. Concern has been involved in Liberia for 23 years, addressing the country’s severe poverty-related issues. This includes assisting with clean water projects to support the 42.5% of Liberians without access to protected wells, nutritional initiatives to counteract the 35.5% of children who are stunted, and projects against malaria and gender-based violence.

incredible wildlife, the country’s thriving tourism sector has not been able to help it escape poverty. The bulk of the population still relies on agriculture for a living, making the economy particularly vulnerable to natural disasters. Madagascar has gone through periods of political unrest, violent takeovers, and contentious elections since gaining independence from France in 1960. But in recent years, Madagascar finally appeared to be trending upward. Poverty reduction and infrastructure development were top priorities for President Andry Rajoelina and his predecessor (and rival) Hery Rajaonarimampianina. Growth was accelerating steadily, structural changes were being made, and returning foreign investors.

3. Mozambique: per capita income 2020- $460

The former Portuguese territory has an abundant amount of water and agricultural land, as well as an abundance of mineral and energy deposits. Mozambique is also strategically positioned, as four of its six borders are landlocked and rely on it as a conduit to global trade, and it has consistently posted average GDP growth rates of more than 7% over the last decade. Nonetheless, it remains one of the world’s top ten poorest countries, with huge segments of the population living considerably below the poverty line. While a 15-year civil conflict ended in 1992, severe weather, corruption, and political instability persisted. Making matters worse, since 2017, attacks by Islamic rebel groups have plagued the country’s gas-rich north, resulting in up to 4,000 fatalities and 800,000 displaced people.

2. Somalia: per capita income 2020- $310

Somalians are losing hope as a result of three decades of internal conflict and violence that have forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes, as well as frequent droughts and floods that are followed by famine and disease, lack of access to health care, extremely high rates of unemployment among young people in particular. This 16-million-person nation on the Horn of Africa never seems to have a good day. The coronavirus pandemic, a locust infestation unheard of in modern times, and exacerbated flooding caused the economy to decline in 2020, interrupting the consistent GDP growth seen in the later part of the previous decade. Then, while a shaky recovery was taking hold, the boycott of Ukraine’s wheat exports further depressed the nation and crammed local hospitals with critically undernourished children.

1.Burundi: per capita income 2020- $270

The unenviable distinction of being the world’s poorest nation belongs to the small, landlocked nation of Burundi, which has been scarred by Hutu-Tutsi ethnic conflict and civil war. Food scarcity is a major issue in this country of nearly 12 million people because 90% of its population depends on subsistence agriculture (and the vast majority of them live in extreme poverty). The level of food insecurity is nearly twice as high as the average for subSaharan African nations.

Less than 5% of the population has access to electricity, and water and sanitary facilities are still in very short supply. It goes without saying that the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine have only served to make all of these issues worse.

Despite the civil war having officially ended 15 years ago, how has it come to this situation? The factors that contribute to extreme poverty are frequently the typical aspects: a lack of infrastructure, widespread corruption, and security issues. Former Hutu rebel turned charismatic president Pierre Nkurunziza had originally succeeded in bringing the nation together behind him and in reviving the economy. But in 2015, his declaration that he would seek a third term— which the opposition claimed violated the constitution—rekindled old disagreements. Thereafter, there was an unsuccessful coup attempt, hundreds of clash-related fatalities, and tens of thousands of internal and external displacements.
