T

he freshly minted chief marketing officer of Simplicity Life, Brian Schneier, has added a groundbreaking strategy to his marketing agenda. Known by many as the former president of Imeriti Financial Network, Brian’s specialty is in marketing sales development programs and training agents and advisors to be masters of their craft. In this Q&A with the (now) chief marketing officer of Simplicity Life, you’ll discover exactly what makes their agents so prolific.

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. What made Imeriti such a successful IMO? A: We always believed in the “work smarter, not harder” mentality. In the early days, we outlined where our competition wasn’t, and how to leverage that as best we could. Early on, CEO Jacob Stern found those opportunities in financial institutions, banks, credit unions and broker/dealers. If there was an opening, we’d take it. And the same goes for our renowned training. We saw a major need for knowledgeable agents in the field, and we designed a program that resulted in the most successful, informed and helpful agents in the industry. Last is our specificity. Our entire marketing platform was designed to make us the IUL experts. That’s all we focused on. That’s all we trained on. That’s what we marketed. And when you focus on one thing, you can do it really, really well. Q: Why does Imeriti have such a strong draw with younger agents?

A: I have to credit our complete marketing and sales training programs. A lot of younger agents aren’t as wellversed with life insurance basics, specifically explaining FIUL. So, from the very start, our agents are coached on working with leads and developing and delivering client presentations, as well as understanding and explaining software that demystifies IUL for clients. In all, our program guides agents through the whole sales circle. Another unique aspect that no other IMO in our industry has is our social selling platform. We work with Hootsuite to make sure our agents stay top of mind with their ideal clients throughout the social media world, making them a real feature subject to their audience. And last, we have powerful study groups. This is a unique way for newer agents to really learn from and work with older, successful advisors in the industry to help them close complex insurance planning. Study groups are also an excellent forum for succession planning — for advisors who may be retiring their book of business and looking for a way to retire from the industry. Q: What led you to transition into Simplicity Life? A: I would say this was driven by Imeriti’s president, Jacob Stern. He decided that our platform was so robust, and so deep and wide-reaching, that it would be a huge enhancement for all of the Simplicity Financial Marketing family of companies to take advantage of what we have. He called it “the ability to grow without building,” and everyone really liked that

idea. By just tapping into our platform, all the Simplicity companies can grow without building. Though growing might be an understatement. Truth is, by rolling it all up and joining Simplicity Financial Marketing, we’re going to be the largest financial distribution company in the United States. Q: What is in store for agents in 2018? A: For years we asked, “How do you bring up an agent who’s making $100,000 or less a year and turn him or her into one that’s capable of making well over $250,000?” That’s a big gap. But we recently put the finishing touches on two programs that are already showing some amazing success for agents of any skill level to climb the ladder as high as they wish. We’re calling them the EPG Premier Team and the EPG Choice Team. The Premier Team is designed for agents already making over $250,000 a year, and helps them become even MORE successful.
