ACADEMIC

At Manor House we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our comprehensive co-curricular programme is designed to nurture the whole child - encouraging personal development, fostering creativity, and building confidence through a wide array of enriching activities.

Our programme includes a variety of opportunities designed to engage and inspire. Pupils can develop confidence and a sense of adventure through Ski Club, while Drama Club encourages self-expression, creativity, and collaboration. Those seeking balance and emotional resilience benefit from our Wellbeing themed clubs, which support mindfulness and mental wellbeing. For students who enjoy intellectual challenge, Chess Club provides a calm, focused environment to strengthen strategic thinking. Our extensive range of Sports clubs promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition, while more unusual offerings including Warhammer Club offer a unique blend of creativity and strategy through model-making and gameplay. These activities, among many others, ensure that every student can find something meaningful and enjoyable to be part of.

Offering over 60 clubs a term, we often have more than 90% of our Senior School and 100% of the Prep School students participating in activities.

Beyond clubs, our enrichment programme offers students the chance to engage in a range of local and nationally recognised initiatives and competitions that extend and challenge their learning. Our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) fosters leadership, discipline, and teamwork through structured training and outdoor experiences.

Many of our pupils also take part in prestigious competitions such as Love Languages, TeenTech, various Science Challenges, the UK Mathematics Challenge, and the Environmental Leaders Programme - all of which encourage innovation, problem-solving, and a sense of global responsibility.

We also enjoy considerable success in Debating competitions, where students hone their public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive communication skills while competing.

Music plays a central role in the life of the school, offering students a wealth of opportunities to develop their musical talents and perform with confidence. Pupils can participate in a range of ensembles including choirs, orchestras, string groups, bands, and smaller instrumental ensembles.

These opportunities not only support academic excellence but also develop the skills, confidence, and ambition that prepare students to thrive in the wider world.

We view these experiences as vital in helping pupils develop essential life skills such as leadership, communication, perseverance, and empathy. Our aim is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to explore their interests, discover new talents, and thrive in a well-rounded, balanced school experience.

Manor House School is proud to be part of the Effingham Schools Trust, alongside St Teresa’s and Cranmore School.

Together, we share facilities, expertise and opportunities - enriching both curriculum and co-curricular life.
