New Ontario G2 License Rules The Ontario government has temporarily removed several components of the G road exam. Highway and main road driving will still be assessed, according to the government. As a result, examinations will be more efficiently administered while assessing existing and new driver skills, such as requirements for highway driving. The G2 road test is intended to evaluate your fundamental driving abilities for about 20 minutes on city streets.

Still, the president and CEO of the Ontario Safety League, a group established to reduce avoidable traffic fatalities and injuries, says the potential consequences on the streets aren't worth it. The study claims that the new testing will involve far fewer right and left turns, limited residential driving, and fewer road stops at junctions. A person who passes their "G" road test is not required to be reevaluated again until they are about 80 years old. The standard road test has been tried and proven for 25 years, according to the study.
