45 jaar Kever: Lachen door de tijd heen
Beste vrienden, leden en sympathisanten,
Dit jaar blaast onze cartoonistenvereniging Kever maar liefst 45 kaarsjes uit. Een hele prestatie, opgebouwd met inkt, inspiratie en een flinke dosis humor. Het is een reis geweest met pieken en dalen - net als het leven zelf - waarin we als kunstenaars telkens weer reageerden op wat er rondom ons gebeurde: sociaal, mentaal, politiek. Geen enkel thema bleef gespaard van onze pen of muisklik. Wat begon als een kleine groep creatieve geesten, is uitgegroeid tot een club waar vrijheid van expressie, ironie en speelsheid hand in hand gaan. We hebben gelachen, getroost en geprikkeld. Altijd met het doel: mensen even stil laten staan, maar vooral ook even laten lachen. Vandaag staan we opnieuw aan de vooravond van een grote traditionele feestdag: Pasen. Een eest dat al eeuwenlang diep geworteld zit in onze christelijke én Europese cultuur. Of je nu gelooft of niet, Pasen staat symbool voor hernieuwing, hoop en L%a zijn. En laat dat nu net zijn wat we in deze roerige tijden nodig hebben. Want ja, het is geen gemakkelijk jaar,oorlogsdreiging, militair opbod, sociale onrust, stakingen en stijgende lasten drukken op ons allemaal. Maar net daarom blijven we doen wat we doen. Cartoonisten hebben altijd al de gave gehad om met één beeld meer te zeggen dan duizend woorden — een spiegel voor te houden, zonder te veroordelen, en mensen te laten glimlachen ondanks alles.
Daarom wensen wij van Kever-Feco jullie een zalig en vrolijk Pasen toe. Of je nu gelooft of niet — vier het samen met je familie, je vrienden, je huisdieren of gewoon jezelf. Blijf kritisch, blijf warm, en bovenal: blijf lachen.

45 Years of Kever: Laughing Through Time
Dear friends, members, and supporters,
This year, our cartoonists’ association Kever is blowing out no fewer than 45 candles. Quite an achievement, built with ink, inspiration, and a healthy dose of humor. It’s been a journey of highs and lows—just like life itself—where we as artists continually responded to what was happening around us: socially, mentally, and politically. No topic was spared from our pen or mouse click.
What started as a small group of creative minds has grown into a club where freedom of expression, irony, and playfulness go hand in hand. We have laughed, comforted, and provoked. Always with the goal of making people pause for a moment—and above all, making them laugh.
Today, we once again stand on the eve of a great traditional holiday: Easter. A celebration deeply rooted in our Christian and European culture for centuries. Whether you believe or not, Easter symbolizes renewal, hope, and love. And that is precisely what we need in these turbulent times.
Because yes, this hasn’t been an easy year—threats of war, military escalation, social unrest, strikes, and rising costs weigh on us all. But that’s exactly why we continue doing what we do. Cartoonists have always had the gift of saying more with one image than a thousand words—holding up a mirror without judging, and making people smile in spite of everything.
That’s why we at Kever-Feco wish you a blessed and joyful Easter. Whether you believe or not—celebrate it with your family, your friends, your pets, or simply by yourself. Stay critical, stay warm, and above all: keep laughing.

Discord is niet echt social media. Het is meer een middel om snel met mekaar in contact te komen. Teksten en of cartoons te delen, te vergaderen, discussieren via chat of video... Hier is een stapsgewijze uitleg:
Wat is Discord?
Discord is een app waarmee je kunt praten, chatten en video bellen met anderen. Het wordt vaak gebruikt door groepen mensen die dezelfde interesses hebben, zoals hobbyclubs, vriendengroepen of gamers.
Hoe werkt het?
Je maakt een account aan (een profiel) en kunt dan lid worden van “servers”. Een server is een soort online ruimte waar mensen samenkomen.
Binnen een server zijn er verschillende “kanalen” voor tekstchat (typen) of spraakchat (praten).
Hoe begin je?
Download de Discord-app op je telefoon, tablet of computer.
Maak een account aan met je e-mailadres en een wachtwoord.
Je kunt uitgenodigd worden om lid te worden van een server via een link. Klik op de link en je komt in de groep.
Hoe gebruik je het?
Typ een bericht in een tekstkanaal of klik op een spraakkanaal om te praten.
Je kunt ook video bellen of schermen delen, bijvoorbeeld om foto’s te laten zien.

Indien je vragen hebt stuur een mail naar kever-feco@ outlook.be of neem contact via discord als je al zover bent geraakt. Hoe je op onze server geraakt vertel ik zo meteen ...
Om de server “Kever-Feco” te vinden op Discord, kun je de volgende stappen volgen:
Uitnodigingslink ontvangen
Meestal heb je een uitnodigingslink nodig om lid te worden van een Discord-server. Vraag aan de beheerder van de “Kever-Feco” server of iemand die al lid is om een uitnodigingslink. Deze link ziet er bijvoorbeeld zo uit:

Als je de link hebt ontvangen, klik je erop. Dit kan via een bericht, e-mail of een andere manier waarop de link naar je is gestuurd.
Als je de Discord-app al hebt geinstalleerd, opent de link automatisch de app en word je naar de server geleid.
Accepteer de uitnodiging
Als de server openbaar is of je toestemming hebt om lid te worden, zie je een knop zoals “Join Server” of “Lid worden”. Klik hierop.
Als de server privé is, moet je mogelijk eerst worden goedgekeurd door een beheerder.
Zoek de server handmatig (als je geen link hebt) Als je geen uitnodigingslink hebt, kun je de server niet direct vinden via zoeken. Discord heeft geen algemene zoekfunctie voor servers. In dat geval moet je contact opnemen met de beheerders of leden van de server om een uitnodiging te krijgen.
Controleer of je lid bent Zodra je lid bent geworden, verschijnt de “Kever-Feco” server in je serverlijst aan de linkerkant van de Discord-app.
Als je nog geen Discord-account hebt, moet je eerst de app downloaden en een account aanmaken voordat je lid kunt worden van een server. (zie pagina 8)
DISCORD EXPLAINED

Discord is not really social media. It’s more of a tool to quickly connect with each other, share texts or cartoons, hold meetings, and discuss via chat or video... Here’s a step-by-step explanation:
What is Discord?
Discord is an app that allows you to talk, chat, and video call with others. It is often used by groups of people who share the same interests, such as hobby clubs, friend groups, or gamers.
How does it work?
You create an account (a profile) and can then join “servers.” A server is a kind of online space where people gather.
Within a server, there are different “channels” for text chat (typing) or voice chat (talking).
How do you get started?
Download the Discord app on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Create an account using your email address and a password.
You can be invited to join a server via a link. Click on the link, and you’ll join the group.
How do you use it?
Type a message in a text channel or click on a voice channel to talk.
You can also video call or share your screen, for example, to show photos.

To find the “Kever-Feco” server on Discord, you can follow these steps:
Receive an Invitation Link
Usually, you need an invitation link to join a Discord server. Ask the administrator of the “Kever-Feco” server or someone who is already a member for an invitation link. The link will look like this:

(Copy this URL to your browser and click it. Follow the instructions.)
Once you have the link, click on it. This can be via a message, email, or any other way the link was sent to you.
If you already have the Discord app installed, the link will automatically open the app and take you to the server.
Accept the Invitation
If the server is public or you have permission to join, you will see a button like “Join Server.” Click on it.
If the server is private, you may need to be approved by an administrator first.
Search for the Server Manually (if you don’t have a link)
If you don’t have an invitation link, you cannot directly find the server through search. Discord does not have a general search function for servers. In that case, you will need to contact the server’s administrators or members to get an invitation.
Check if You’ve Joined
Once you’ve joined, the “Kever-Feco” server will appear in your server list on the left side of the Discord app.
If you don’t have a Discord account yet, you’ll need to download the app and create an account before you can join a server. (see page 8)

- Tweefactorauthenticatie (2FA): Schakel 2FA in voor extra beveiliging via de gebruikersinstellingen.

HET VERHAAL ACHTER ASTERIX & OBELIX
Het verhaal achter Asterix en Obelix Ergens eind jaren ‘50, in het bruisende Parijs, zaten twee creatieve geesten aan een tafel vol koffie, papieren en ideeën. De één heette René Goscinny, een briljant schrijver met een scherp gevoel voor humor. De ander was Albert Uderzo, een getalenteerde tekenaar met een zwak voor karikaturen en actie. Samen waren ze op zoek naar een originele, écht Franse stripheld – eentje die kon opboksen tegen Amerikaanse iconen zoals Superman of Mickey Mouse.
Ze besloten terug te grijpen naar de wortels van Frankrijk: de tijd van de Galliërs, zo’n tweeduizend jaar geleden, toen de Romeinen onder leiding van Julius Caesar grote delen van Europa bezetten. Wat als er één dorpje was dat nog steeds standhield tegen die machtige Romeinen? En zo werd, op 29 oktober 1959, in het stripblad Pilote, een kleine maar dappere held geboren: Asterix.
Asterix was allesbehalve een typische held. Klein van stuk, slim, sluw en met een gezonde dosis spot. Aan zijn zijde stond zijn onafscheidelijke vriend Obelix, groot, breed, en altijd hongerig – vooral naar geroosterd everzwijn. Samen beleefden ze avontuur na avontuur, geholpen door de toverdrank van druïde Panoramix, die hen bovenmenselijke kracht gaf. Hun vijanden? De arme Romeinse soldaten die steeds opnieuw probeerden het dorpje te onderwerpen. Tevergeefs, natuurlijk.
De wereld maakte snel kennis met het unieke Gallische duo. Hun verhalen stonden bol van woordspelingen, historische knipogen, en grappige cultuurparodieën. Of ze nu naar Egypte trokken om Cleopatra te helpen, of naar Groot-Brittannië om thee te ontdekken – elke strip zat vol fantasie en humor, verpakt in rijke tekeningen en slimme dialogen.
Wat begon als een Frans idee groeide uit tot een internationaal fenomeen. Meer dan 100 talen en dialecten vertaalden de avonturen van Asterix, van Chinees tot West-Vlaams. Kinderen én volwassenen lachten om de valse bard Kakofonix, de driftige chef Abraracourcix, en de eindeloze stoet Romeinen die telkens weer door de lucht vlogen. De roem was zo groot dat er uiteindelijk films, videogames, en zelfs een themapark kwamen: Parc Astérix, net buiten Parijs.
Maar het leven is niet altijd een feest. In 1977 overleed Goscinny onverwacht. Uderzo, diep geraakt door het verlies van zijn vriend, besloot de reeks alleen voort te zetten. Hij schreef én tekende nieuwe albums, tot ook hij in 2009 zijn potlood neerlegde. Later, in 2020, nam hij afscheid van de wereld, maar het Gallische vuur bleef branden.
Nieuwe auteurs, zoals Jean-Yves Ferri, Didier Conrad en later Fabcaro, namen de fakkel over. En hoewel de stijl iets evolueerde, bleef de geest van Asterix springlevend: rebels, vrolijk en altijd een tikje ondeugend.
Tot op de dag van vandaag, verzetten Asterix, Obelix en hun dorpsgenoten zich met hand en tand – en toverdrank – tegen het Romeinse rijk. En wie weet, misschien hoor je zelfs op het einde van elk album weer

THE STORY BEHIND ASTERIX & OBELIX
Sometime in the late 1950s, in the bustling heart of Paris, two creative minds sat at a table surrounded by coffee, papers, and wild ideas. One was named René Goscinny, a brilliant writer with a sharp sense of humor. The other was Albert Uderzo, a talented illustrator with a love for caricatures and action. Together, they were searching for a truly original, unmistakably French comic book hero – someone who could stand up to American icons like Superman or Mickey Mouse.
They decided to dive deep into the roots of France: the time of the Gauls, nearly two thousand years ago, when the Roman Empire under Julius Caesar ruled much of Europe. But what if there was one tiny village that still held out against those mighty Romans? And so, on October 29, 1959, in the pages of the magazine Pilote, a small but brave hero was born: Asterix.
Asterix was far from a typical hero. Short in stature, clever, cunning, and with a healthy dose of sarcasm. By his side stood his inseparable friend Obelix – tall, wide, and always hungry, especially for roasted wild boar. Together, they dove into one adventure after another, aided by a magical potion brewed by the village druid Panoramix, which granted them superhuman strength. Their enemies? The poor Roman soldiers who kept trying – and failing – to conquer the village.
The world quickly fell in love with the unique Gallic duo. Their stories were filled with puns, historical nods, and humorous cultural parodies. Whether they were off to Egypt to help Cleopatra, or to Britain to discover tea – each comic was packed with imagination and laughter, brought to life through rich illustrations and clever dialogue.
What began as a French creation soon became an international phenomenon. The adventures of Asterix have been translated into more than 100 languages and dialects, from Chinese to West Flemish. Children and adults alike laughed at the off-key bard Cacofonix, the grumpy village chief Vitalstatistix, and the endless stream of Roman soldiers flying through the air. The series became so famous that it eventually inspired films, video games, and even its own theme park: Parc Astérix, just outside Paris.
But life is not always a celebration. In 1977, René Goscinny passed away unexpectedly. Uderzo, deeply affected by the loss of his friend, decided to carry on the series alone. He both wrote and illustrated new albums until he finally put down his pencil in 2009. Later, in 2020, he passed away, but the Gallic spirit continued to burn brightly.
New authors, like Jean-Yves Ferri, Didier Conrad, and later Fabcaro, picked up the torch. And although the style has evolved slightly, the spirit of Asterix lives on – rebellious, cheerful, and always a bit mischievous.
To this day, Asterix, Obelix, and their fellow villagers continue to resist the Roman Empire with all their might – and a bit of magic potion. And if you listen closely at the end of each album, you might just hear the familiar hum of a Gallic feast… interrupted, of course, by the bard being tied up, to everyone’s great relief.

DE STILTE VAN DE LIJN
In een smalle straat, waar de tijd leek te vertragen en de stoepstenen verhalen fluisterden, lag een klein atelier met beslagen ramen. Achter die ramen werkte Bram — een tekenaar van het stille soort. Niet beroemd, niet op zoek naar applaus. Alleen gewapend met een potlood, een kop sterke koffie, en een hoofd vol beelden.
Bram tekende cartoons. Iedere dag opnieuw. Soms tientallen achter elkaar, soms slechts één. Zijn stijl was uniek: eenvoudige lijnen, herkenbare figuren, en een humor die ergens tussen melancholie en ondeugendheid hing.
Zijn atelier hing vol met zijn werk. Cartoons met scherpe oneliners, politieke prikken, of onnozele woordspelingen die je toch aan het lachen kregen. Maar recht in het midden van zijn werkmuur hing een ander soort cartoon. Een die eruit sprong zonder te schreeuwen.
Een kat. Die stil zat. Kijkend naar een vlinder die nét buiten bereik zweefde.
Geen tekst. Geen wolkje. Geen punchline.
Toch bleven mensen er steevast bij stilstaan.
Sommigen glimlachten. Anderen trokken hun wenkbrauwen op. Eén bezoeker noemde het zelfs ‘poëzie zonder rijm’. En elk van hen liep weg met een ander gevoel, alsof de cartoon hen iets persoonlijks had verteld.
Op een herfstige middag kwam er een jonge student langs, met een schetsboek onder zijn arm. Hij had gehoord van Bram — de stille tekenaar — en wilde van hem leren. Ze praatten over lijnen, timing, en de kracht van eenvoud.
Maar de student bleef steeds terugkijken naar die éne tekening.
“Waarom gebruik je soms geen tekst?” vroeg hij uiteindelijk. “Is dat omdat de grap vanzelfsprekend is, of… is het iets anders?”
Bram keek op van zijn potlood, alsof hij even moest schakelen tussen lijnen en woorden. Hij knikte langzaam en wees naar de kat op de muur.
“Soms,” zei hij, “wil ik dat de kijker het laatste woord invult. Tekst kan sturen, maar stilte… laat ruimte. Een cartoon met tekst vertelt een grap. Een cartoon zonder tekst vraagt er één van jou.”
De student knikte, maar leek het pas echt te begrijpen toen hij die avond thuis zijn eigen blanco kader bekeek. Hij tekende een figuurtje dat naar een gesloten deur keek. Geen tekst, geen uitleg.
En toch voelde het vol.
Vanaf die dag begon hij te experimenteren. De ene cartoon liet hij praten, de andere liet hij zwijgen. En mettertijd ontdekte hij wat Bram bedoelde: dat niet elk verhaal verteld hoeft te worden. Sommige mogen gewoon bestaan — als een stille glimlach op papier.
Want in de wereld van cartoons, waar lijnen spreken en wolkjes fluisteren, is het soms de leegte die het hardst binnenkomt

THE SILENCE OF THE LINE
In a narrow street, where time seemed to slow down and the cobblestones whispered stories, there was a small studio with fogged-up windows. Behind those windows worked Bram — a quiet kind of artist. Not famous, not seeking applause. Armed only with a pencil, a strong cup of coffee, and a head full of images.
Bram drew cartoons. Every single day. Sometimes dozens in a row, sometimes just one. His style was unique: simple lines, recognizable characters, and a sense of humor that floated somewhere between melancholy and mischief.
His studio was filled with his work. Cartoons with sharp one-liners, political jabs, or silly puns that somehow still made you laugh. But right in the center of his wall hung a different kind of cartoon. One that stood out without shouting.
A cat. Sitting still. Watching a butterfly just out of reach.
No text. No speech bubble. No punchline.
And yet, people always paused in front of it.
Some smiled. Others furrowed their brows. One visitor even called it “poetry without rhyme.” And each of them walked away with a different feeling, as if the cartoon had told them something personal.
One autumn afternoon, a young student came by, a sketchbook under his arm. He had heard of Bram — the silent cartoonist — and wanted to learn from him. They talked about lines, timing, and the power of simplicity.
But the student kept glancing back at that one drawing.
“Why do you sometimes leave out the text?” he finally asked. “Is it because the joke is obvious, or… is it something else?”
Bram looked up from his pencil, as if shifting between lines and language. He nodded slowly and pointed at the cat on the wall.
“Sometimes,” he said, “I want the viewer to fill in the last word. Text can guide, but silence… leaves space. A cartoon with words tells a joke. A cartoon without them asks you for one.”
The student nodded, but it wasn’t until he looked at his own blank panel that evening that he truly understood. He drew a small figure standing before a closed door. No text. No explanation.
And yet, it felt complete.
From that day on, he began to experiment. One cartoon would speak, the next would stay silent. And in time, he discovered what Bram had meant: not every story needs to be told. Some are meant simply to exist — like a quiet smile on paper.
Because in the world of cartoons, where lines speak and bubbles whisper, it’s sometimes the emptiness that speaks the loudest.

Gelieve jullie werken, de maand er vóór, enkel nog te versturen naar kever-feco@outlook.be, vermeldt ook jullie naam in de file en de eventuele titel zodat we niet in alle mails moeten zoeken wat van wie kwam. Een voorbeeldje voor de naamgeving van jullie werken : “Yves25-America.jpg of .png”

Water is de bron van alle leven, maar het is ook een kwetsbare hulpbron die wereldwijd onder druk staat. Waterschaarste treft steeds meer regio’s en vormt een bedreiging voor ecosystemen, landbouw en menselijke bestaanszekerheid. Door klimaatverandering, bevolkingsgroei en een stijgende vraag naar water neemt de druk op beschikbare waterbronnen toe. Terwijl sommige gebieden kampen met overstromingen, droogt elders de grond uit en worden mensen geconfronteerd met een gebrek aan schoon drinkwater.

While some areas struggle with flooding, others face parched land and a lack of clean drinking water.
