Beste vrienden en vriendinnen cartoonisten, Nogmaals voor iedereen een gelukkig,gezond en creatief jaar 2025 !
Verschillende leden hebben afgelopen jaar heel wat successen behaald ook in het buitenland.
In naam van Kever en Feco en het bestuur: Lejon De Borger - President Feco Belgium, Freddy D’Hoopsecretaris , Ben Peeters - PR , Fonny Dirix - coordinator en Yves Vanwetswinkel - redacteur “Plagende Kevers”
Jullie hebben het juist gezien, oorspronkelijk had cartoonist Fonny Dirix uit Sint-Truiden en zijn dochter, Ingeborg ons uit de nood willen helpen maar terzelfdertijd wilde onze vorige redacteur Yves, terug na twee jaar starten met Plagende Kevers! Hij had ook nog het archief van PK in zijn bezit, nadat Emiel De Bolle dit jarenlang en met succes had voorgedaan! Na samenspraak met Fonny was het vervolgens wijselijk dat Yves, met zijn ervaringen, PK zou verder zetten, en wij Fonny en zijn dochter van harte moesten danken om deze bereidwillige hulp! Zij kunnen ons nog steeds van dienst zijn!
Om de 3 maand krijgen we terug nieuws via ons PK magazine, dat zoals voor 2 jaar internationaal zal gaan, Yves zal het nog wel uitleggen! Nederlandse en Engelse teksten plus tekeningen .
Onze leden komen natuurlijk op de eerste plaats. Dus al jullie publicaties in deze nieuwsbrief tellen mee voor de erkenningscommissie van de VJV = Vlaamse Journalisten Vereniging! Wij werken met hen samen!

Wij wensen nieuwe rubrieken in onze PK bijvoorbeeld: de link met de kunst enz....! “Artoons“ was ooit een thema, ... Deze en vele andere zaken kunnen en zullen besproken worden via het programma “Discord”.
Dit zal allemaal voorgesteld en uitgelegd worden in dit nummer.
Wij blijven onafhankelijk en neutraal, dit wil zeggen dat iedereen zijn visie, of het nu rechts of links is kan ventileren via zijn cartoons!
Persoonlijke vetes en aanvallen worden niet gepubliceerd en getolereerd, alles moet fatsoenlijk gebracht worden, zowel het taalgebruik als de cartoons! Lachen is gezond en laat het daar om draaien! Wij gaan zeker niet de toer op zoals Hara Kiri! De politieker moet op zijn hoede zijn want hoge bomen vangen veel wind! Er is opnieuw hoop en daar leven we toch voor zeker!!

Dear friends and fellow cartoonists,
Once again, I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and creative year 2025!
Several members have achieved great successes over the past year, including internationally.
On behalf of Kever and Feco, as well as the board: Lejon De Borger – President of Feco Belgium, Freddy D’Hoop – Secretary, Ben Peeters – PR, Fonny Dirix – Coordinator, and Yves Vanwetswinkel – Editor of “Plagende Kevers” (Teasing Beetles).
As you may have noticed, originally, cartoonist Fonny Dirix from Sint-Truiden and his daughter, Ingeborg, wanted to help us out of a tight spot. However, at the same time, our previous editor, Yves, decided to restart “Plagende Kevers” after two years! He also still had the PK archives in his possession, following Emiel De Bolle’s successful tenure for many years. After discussions with Fonny, it was wisely decided that Yves, with his experience, would continue PK, and we sincerely thank Fonny and his daughter for their willingness to help! They can still assist us in the future!
Every three months, we will receive news through our PK magazine, which, like two years ago, will go international. Yves will explain this further! It will include Dutch and English texts, as well as cartoons.
Our members naturally come first. All your publications in this newsletter count towards the recognition
committee of the VJV (Flemish Journalists Association)! We collaborate with them.
The emblem of “Plagende Kevers” was once designed by our member and graphic artist Stefan Provijn from Sint-MartensLatem.
Texts for this digital newsletter and cartoons must be submitted to Yves by the 15th of the month for the publication dates: February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 15, 2025, at kever-feco@outlook.be.
If a cartoonist is not a member of our association, they can still be featured once with one of their cartoons in our PK. However, our members can be featured unlimitedly! If you deposit 25€ into our account, you will receive all the benefits of Kever-Feco membership for FREE.

We wish to introduce new sections in our PK, such as the link with art, etc.! “Artoons” was once a theme... These and many other topics will be discussed via the “Discord” program. All of this will be presented and explained in this issue.
We remain independent and neutral, meaning everyone can express their views, whether right or left, through their cartoons!
Personal vendettas and attacks will not be published or tolerated. Everything must be presented decently, both in language and cartoons! Laughter is healthy, and that’s what it’s all about! We certainly won’t go down the path of Hara Kiri! Politicians should beware because tall trees catch a lot of wind! There is hope again, and that’s what we live for!

Discord is niet echt social media. Het is meer een middel om snel met mekaar in contact te komen. Teksten en of cartoons te delen, te vergaderen, discussieren via chat of video... Hier is een stapsgewijze uitleg:
Wat is Discord?
Discord is een app waarmee je kunt praten, chatten en video bellen met anderen. Het wordt vaak gebruikt door groepen mensen die dezelfde interesses hebben, zoals hobbyclubs, vriendengroepen of gamers.
Hoe werkt het?
Je maakt een account aan (een profiel) en kunt dan lid worden van “servers”. Een server is een soort online ruimte waar mensen samenkomen.
Binnen een server zijn er verschillende “kanalen” voor tekstchat (typen) of spraakchat (praten).
Hoe begin je?
Download de Discord-app op je telefoon, tablet of computer.
Maak een account aan met je e-mailadres en een wachtwoord.
Je kunt uitgenodigd worden om lid te worden van een server via een link. Klik op de link en je komt in de groep.
Hoe gebruik je het?
Typ een bericht in een tekstkanaal of klik op een spraakkanaal om te praten.
Je kunt ook video bellen of schermen delen, bijvoorbeeld om foto’s te laten zien.

Om de server “Kever-Feco” te vinden op Discord, kun je de volgende stappen volgen:
Uitnodigingslink ontvangen
Meestal heb je een uitnodigingslink nodig om lid te worden van een Discord-server. Vraag aan de beheerder van de “Kever-Feco” server of iemand die al lid is om een uitnodigingslink. Deze link ziet er bijvoorbeeld zo uit:

Als je de link hebt ontvangen, klik je erop. Dit kan via een bericht, e-mail of een andere manier waarop de link naar je is gestuurd.
Als je de Discord-app al hebt geinstalleerd, opent de link automatisch de app en word je naar de server geleid.
Accepteer de uitnodiging
Als de server openbaar is of je toestemming hebt om lid te worden, zie je een knop zoals “Join Server” of “Lid worden”. Klik hierop.
Als de server privé is, moet je mogelijk eerst worden goedgekeurd door een beheerder.
Zoek de server handmatig (als je geen link hebt)
Als je geen uitnodigingslink hebt, kun je de server niet direct vinden via zoeken. Discord heeft geen algemene zoekfunctie voor servers. In dat geval moet je contact opnemen met de beheerders of leden van de server om een uitnodiging te krijgen.
Controleer of je lid bent Zodra je lid bent geworden, verschijnt de “Kever-Feco” server in je serverlijst aan de linkerkant van de Discord-app.
Als je nog geen Discord-account hebt, moet je eerst de app downloaden en een account aanmaken voordat je lid kunt worden van een server. (zie pagina 8)
DISCORD EXPLAINED

Discord is not really social media. It’s more of a tool to quickly connect with each other, share texts or cartoons, hold meetings, and discuss via chat or video... Here’s a step-by-step explanation:
What is Discord?
Discord is an app that allows you to talk, chat, and video call with others. It is often used by groups of people who share the same interests, such as hobby clubs, friend groups, or gamers.
How does it work?
You create an account (a profile) and can then join “servers.” A server is a kind of online space where people gather.
Within a server, there are different “channels” for text chat (typing) or voice chat (talking).
How do you get started?
Download the Discord app on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Create an account using your email address and a password.
You can be invited to join a server via a link. Click on the link, and you’ll join the group.
How do you use it?
Type a message in a text channel or click on a voice channel to talk.
You can also video call or share your screen, for example, to show photos.
Tips

To find the “Kever-Feco” server on Discord, you can follow these steps:
Receive an Invitation Link
Usually, you need an invitation link to join a Discord server. Ask the administrator of the “Kever-Feco” server or someone who is already a member for an invitation link. The link will look like this:

(Copy this URL to your browser and click it. Follow the instructions.)
Once you have the link, click on it. This can be via a message, email, or any other way the link was sent to you.
If you already have the Discord app installed, the link will automatically open the app and take you to the server.
Accept the Invitation
If the server is public or you have permission to join, you will see a button like “Join Server.” Click on it.
If the server is private, you may need to be approved by an administrator first.
Search for the Server Manually (if you don’t have a link)
If you don’t have an invitation link, you cannot directly find the server through search. Discord does not have a general search function for servers. In that case, you will need to contact the server’s administrators or members to get an invitation.
Check if You’ve Joined
Once you’ve joined, the “Kever-Feco” server will appear in your server list on the left side of the Discord app.
If you don’t have a Discord account yet, you’ll need to download the app and create an account before you can join a server. (see page 8)

Het aanmaken van een account op Discord is eenvoudig. Volg deze stappen:

Start met Discord:
Na verificatie kun je inloggen en beginnen met het verkennen van servers, het toevoegen van vrienden en het gebruiken van de app.
Extra tips:
- Profilering: Pas je profiel aan door een profielfoto toe te voegen en een status in te stellen.
- Tweefactorauthenticatie (2FA): Schakel 2FA in voor extra beveiliging via de gebruikersinstellingen.

Sinds X, het voormalige Twitter, werd overgenomen door Elon Musk raakt de dienst steeds meer gebruikers kwijt. Dit enerzijds door alle commerciële plannen die Musk met X heeft, anderzijds door de vele bedreigingen en scheldkanonnades op het sociale platform. Die gebruikers wenden zich nu tot alternatieven, zoals Mastodon en Instagram Threads. Nog een alternatief is Bluesky, een app die sterk op Twitter/X lijkt maar toch net even anders is. In dit artikel nemen we deze app eens onder de loep.
Wat is Bluesky?
Bluesky is net als X een sociaal medium waarop je korte berichten kan plaatsen, al dan niet vergezeld van een link, foto of video. De app kent eenzelfde gebruikersomgeving als X, waarin je tevens berichten kan reposten en reageren op berichten van andere gebruikers.
De app van Bluesky is open source, wat wil zeggen dat de ontwikkeling van de app in handen is van de gebruikers.
Bluesky werd bedacht door voormalig Twitter-baas Jack Dorsey, maar deze is niet meer aan de dienst verbonden.
Hoeveel gebruikers heeft Bluesky?
In de begindagen werkte Bluesky alleen op uitnodiging, maar tegenwoordig kan iedereen zich inschrijven. Momenteel heeft Bluesky meer dan 30 miljoen gebruikers. De groei is mede het gevolg van verschillende beleidswijzigingen bij X, waaronder een zwaar bekritiseerde wijziging van de blokfunctie.
Ook wordt X-eigenaar Musk in verband gebracht met de verkiezingscampagne en -winst van Donald Trump. Nadat Trump in november 2024 de Amerikaanse verkiezingen won, groeide het gebruikersbestand van Bluesky met 1,5 miljoen gebruikers, terwijl X op dezelfde dag 115.000 gebruikers verloor. Verschillende academici, journalisten, linksgeoriënteerde politici en beroemdheden hebben aangegeven dat ze zich bij Bluesky aansluiten.
Ondanks de groei van Bluesky, meldde X na de verkiezingen dat het “de wereldwijde discussie over de Amerikaanse verkiezingen had gedomineerd” en nieuwe records had gevestigd.
Wat is het verschil met X?
Het belangrijkste verschil met X is dat Bluesky gedecentraliseerd is. Dit betekent dat de app niet eigendom is van één enkele entiteit en dat gegevens worden gehost op een reeks onafhankelijke servers.
Een van de opvallende kenmerken van Bluesky is de mogelijkheid om gebruikers aangepaste feeds te laten maken en eraan deel te laten nemen die inspelen op specifieke interesses, vergelijkbaar met hoe hashtags werken op andere platforms.
Bluesky modereert op misinformatie, haat en discriminatie. Ook kunnen gebruikers ongepaste reacties op hun berichten verwijderen en onderwerpen blokkeren.
Hoe werkt Bluesky?
Een post op Bluesky heet een skeet, een samentrekking van ‘sky’ en ’tweet’. Deze mag 300 tekens bevatten. Gebruikers selecteren een gebruikersnaam om Bluesky te gebruiken, weergegeven als “@username.bsky. social”.
Via de optie ‘Feeds’ in het menu stel je de feeds in die je wilt volgen.
De app is beschikbaar op iOS en Android.
Wat vinden tegenstanders?
Niet iedereen is gecharmeerd van Bluesky. Als gebruikers hun eigen contentfeeds en moderatiebeleid kunnen aanpassen, kunnen er zogenaamde echokamers ontstaan. Hierin communiceren gebruikers alleen met gelijkgestemden, waardoor ze minder snel met verschillende standpunten in aanraking komen.
Moet je lid worden van Bluesky?
Bluesky is zeker en vast de moeite waard om te verkennen, vooral als je op zoek bent naar een platform dat aanvoelt als Twitter.

Since X, formerly known as Twitter, was acquired by Elon Musk, the platform has been losing more and more users. This is partly due to Musk’s various commercial plans for X, and partly due to the numerous threats and abusive behavior on the social platform. These users are now turning to alternatives such as Mastodon and Instagram Threads. Another alternative is Bluesky, an app that closely resembles Twitter/X but is slightly different. In this article, we take a closer look at this app.
What is Bluesky?
Bluesky, like X, is a social medium where you can post short messages, optionally accompanied by a link, photo, or video. The app features a user interface similar to X, where you can also repost messages and reply to posts from other users. The Bluesky app is open source, meaning its development is in the hands of its users.
Bluesky was conceived by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, though he is no longer associated with the service.
How many users does Bluesky have?
In its early days, Bluesky operated on an invitation-only basis, but now anyone can sign up. Currently, Bluesky has over 30 million users. This growth is partly due to various policy changes at X, including a heavily criticized update to the block function.
X owner Musk has also been linked to the election campaign and victory of Donald Trump. After Trump won the U.S. elections in November 2024, Bluesky’s user base grew by 1.5 million users, while X lost 115,000 users on the same day. Several academics, journalists, left-leaning politicians, and celebrities have indicated that they are joining Bluesky.
Despite Bluesky’s growth, X claimed after the elections that it had “dominated the global conversation about the U.S. elections” and set new records.
What is the difference with X?
The main difference with X is that Bluesky is decentralized. This means the app is not owned by a single entity, and data is hosted on a series of independent servers.
One of Bluesky’s standout features is the ability for users to create and participate in custom feeds tailored to specific interests, similar to how hashtags work on other platforms.
Bluesky moderates misinformation, hate speech, and discrimination. Users can also remove inappropriate replies to their posts and block topics.
How does Bluesky work?
A post on Bluesky is called a “skeet,” a blend of “sky” and “tweet.” It can contain up to 300 characters. Users select a username to use Bluesky, displayed as “@username.bsky.social.” Through the “Feeds” option in the menu, users can set up the feeds they want to follow. The app is available on iOS and Android.
What do critics say?
Not everyone is fond of Bluesky. If users can customize their own content feeds and moderation policies, so-called echo chambers can emerge. In these, users only interact with like-minded individuals, reducing their exposure to diverse perspectives.
Should you join Bluesky?
Bluesky is definitely worth exploring, especially if you’re looking for a platform that feels like Twitter.

Humor in Cartoons: De Kunst van de Striptekening in Magazines en Kranten
Cartoons in kranten en magazines hebben een unieke plek in onze dagelijkse routine. Of het nu een politieke spotprent is, een humoristische kijk op het gezinsleven, of een absurdistische grap over de samenleving, deze kleine kunstwerkjes weten vaak in een paar beeldjes en een paar woorden een glimlach of zelfs een hardop gelach te ontlokken. Maar wat maakt deze vorm van humor zo effectief en tijdloos? Laten we eens kijken naar de verschillende aspecten van humor in strips en cartoons die we in printmedia tegenkomen.
De Eenvoud van de Strip: Less is More Een van de grootste krachten van cartoons in kranten en magazines is hun eenvoud. Met slechts een paar beeldjes en vaak maar een handvol woorden weet een cartoonist een complete boodschap over te brengen. Deze beperking in ruimte en tijd dwingt de tekenaar tot creativiteit en precisie. Elke lijn, elk woord en elke uitdrukking moet ertoe doen. Dit resulteert vaak in humor die direct en pakkend is.
Neem bijvoorbeeld de klassieke strip Calvin and Hobbes van Bill Watterson. Met eenvoudige lijnen en een beperkt aantal frames weet Watterson diepzinnige humor te creëren over het leven, de fantasie van een kind en de absurditeit van de volwassen wereld. De eenvoud van de strip maakt hem toegankelijk, terwijl de inhoud vaak verrassend complex is.
Politieke en Maatschappelijke Satire: De Spiegel van de Samenleving
Politieke cartoons zijn een belangrijk onderdeel van de journalistiek. Ze gebruiken humor en overdrijving om maatschappelijke en politieke kwesties aan de kaak te stellen. Een goede politieke cartoonist weet complexe onderwerpen te versimpelen tot een enkel, krachtig beeld dat direct begrepen wordt. Denk aan de iconische cartoons van bijvoorbeeld Joep Bertrams in Nederland, die vaak scherpe commentaren leveren op actuele gebeurtenissen.
De kracht van deze cartoons ligt in hun vermogen om serieuze onderwerpen bespreekbaar te maken door er humor aan toe te voegen. Ze prikkelen de lezer om na te denken, terwijl ze tegelijkertijd een glimlach opwekken. Het is een delicate balans tussen spot en respect, tussen humor en ernst.
Herkenbaarheid: Humor uit het Dagelijks Leven Veel cartoons in magazines en kranten putten hun humor uit herkenbare situaties uit het dagelijks leven. Strips zoals Hagar de Verschrikkelijke van Chris Browne of Fokke & Sukke van Reid, Geleijnse en Van Tol spelen in op universele ervaringen: de strijd tussen man en vrouw, de absurditeit van bureaucratie, of de frustraties van het moderne leven. Door deze herkenbaarheid voelen lezers zich direct verbonden met de humor.
De kracht van deze strips ligt in hun vermogen om alledaagse frustraties om te zetten in iets waar we om kunnen lachen. Het is een manier om even te relativeren en te beseffen dat we niet de enigen zijn die met bepaalde problemen worstelen.
Absurdisme en Fantasie: De Grenzeloze Wereld van de Cartoon
Naast herkenbare humor zijn er ook cartoons die de absurditeit omarmen. Strips zoals The Far Side van Gary Larson of Roald Dahl's Dirty Beasts in stripvorm gaan volledig de fantasie in, met bizarre situaties en personages die niets met de realiteit te maken hebben. Deze vorm van humor werkt omdat het de lezer verrast en uitdaagt om buiten de gebaande paden te denken.
Absurdistische cartoons zijn vaak visueel gedreven en vertrouwen op de kracht van het beeld om de grap over te brengen. Ze laten zien dat humor niet altijd gebonden is aan logica of realiteit, maar dat het soms juist in het onverwachte en onmogelijke zit.
Conclusie: De Tijdloze Aantrekkingskracht van de Cartoon
Cartoons in kranten en magazines zijn meer dan alleen een leuk tijdverdrijf. Ze zijn een spiegel van de samenleving, een bron van herkenning, en een uitlaatklep voor frustraties en zorgen. Door humor te gebruiken om serieuze onderwerpen aan te snijden, maken ze complexe kwesties toegankelijk en bespreekbaar.
Of het nu gaat om een politieke spotprent, een herkenbare familiefoto, of een absurde fantasie, cartoons hebben een unieke manier om ons aan het lachen te maken – en soms zelfs aan het denken te zetten. In een wereld die vaak overweldigend kan zijn, zijn deze kleine kunstwerkjes een welkome herinnering aan het belang van humor en relativering. Een man zegt tegen zijn vrouw: “Schat, laten we er eens een mooi weekend van maken.” “Wat een leuk idee!”, antwoordt zij. Waarop de man zegt: “Prima, dan zien we elkaar maandag weer!”
3 mannen komen God tegen in de hemel. God zegt: “Jullie krijgen alle 3 een vervoermiddel gebaseerd op hoe je omgaat met je vrouw.” De eerste man komt en zegt: “Ik ben nooit vreemdgegaan met mijn vrouw.”
Dan zegt God:” Jij krijgt een Tesla!” De tweede man komt en zegt: “Ik ben een beetje vreemd gegaan met mijn vrouw.” Dan antwoordt God: “Hmm, jij krijgt een motor.” De derde man komt en zegt: “Ik ben heel erg vreemd gegaan met mijn vrouw.” Dan zegt God: “Jij krijgt skates!” De eerste man begint te huilen. De tweede en derde mannen zeggen: “Waarom huil je?
Je hebt het beste vervoersmiddel van ons allemaal!”
Dan antwoordt de eerste man: “Ik zag mijn vrouw net op skates!!”
Er lopen 2 zandkorrels in de woestijn. Zegt de een tegen de ander: Ik denk dat we achtervolgd worden…
Twee verliefde tieners zitten op een bankje. Het meisje vraagt aan de jongen: “Wil je zien waar ik aan mijn blindedarm ben geopereerd?” “Ja, graag!”, antwoordt de jongen enthousiast. “Daar, in dat grote gebouw met al die ramen…”
A man says to his wife: “Honey, let’s make it a nice weekend.” “What a nice idea!”, she replies. To which the man says: “Fine, then we’ll see each other again on Monday!”
3 men meet God in heaven. God says, “All 3 of you will be given a means of transportation based on how you treat your wife.” The first man comes and says: “I have never cheated with my wife.” Then God says: “You get a Tesla!” The second man comes and says: “I cheated a bit with my wife.” Then God answers: “Hmm, you get a motorcycle.” The third man comes and says: “I cheated very badly with my wife.” Then God says: “You get skates!” The first man starts crying. The second and third men say: “Why are you crying? You have the best means of transport of all of us!” Then the first man answers: “I just saw my wife on skates!!”
