Once upon a time, there was a boy called Tom. He was a good child, but he had no brothers or sisters, so sometimes, he felt some what alone.

One day, he was in his bedroom playing alone, when suddenly he heard something strange under his bed.

“What´s that noise?” He wondered.

Then he looked under the bed and saw two little brilliant eyes looking up at him.

“Who are you?” He asked, and then, a small and furry mouse got out from under the bed.

Tom opened his eyes widely, he could not believe it!

The mouse looked at him quietly, he did not seem to be afraid or scared, he was calm.

Then Tom, put his hand next to the mouse, and it jumped into it.

“Do you want to be my friend?” Asked Tom. And the mouse appeared to have a little smile all over its mouth.

Había una vez un niño llamado Tom. Era un buen niño pero no tenía hermanos o hermanas, así que algunas veces se sentía un poco solo.

Un día, estaba en su cuarto jugando solo, cuando de repente, escuchó algo raro debajo de su cama. “¿Qué es ese ruido?” Se preguntó.

Entonces miró debajo de la cama y vio dos pequeños ojos brillantes mirándole. “¿Quién eres tú?” Él preguntó, y de pronto, un pequeño y peludo ratón salió de debajo de su cama.

Tom se quedó con los ojos muy abiertos… ¡no podía creerlo!

El ratón lo miró con calma, no parecía tener miedo o estar asustado, estaba tranquilo.

Entonces Tom, puso su mano al lado del ratón, y pequeño roedor saltó encima. “¿Quieres ser mi amigo? Preguntó Tom. Y el ratón pareció dibujar una pequeña sonrisa en su boca.

Tom was really excited! He did not expect to meet a new friend under his bed.

Then Tom went to the kitchen and took a piece of cheese.

“Are you hungry?” Asked mum.

“Umm…oh, yes mum” Answered Tom. He went back to his bedroom and gave the cheese to the mouse, who ate it in one mouthful.

“Now, you need a place to sleep”, said Tom. He looked into inside his wardrobe and found an old, empty shoe box.

“This will be perfect.” He thought. And put some cotton inside the box so as the mouse was more comfortable.

Then he took his little friend and put it inside the box.

“Good night my friend.” He said, and placed the box under his bed. ¡Tom estaba muy emocionado! Él no esperaba encontrar un nuevo amigo debajo de su cama.

Entonces Tom fue a la cocina y cogió un trozo de queso. “¿Tienes hambre?” Preguntó mamá.

“Umm…sí mamá” Respondió Tom. Él volvió a su habitación y le dio el queso al ratón, que se lo comió de un bocado.

“Ahora, necesitas un sitio para dormir”, dijo Tom. Buscó dentro de su ropero, y encontró una caja de zapatos vieja y vacía. “Ésta será perfecta.” Pensó. Y puso algo de algodón dentro de la caja para que el ratón estuviese más cómodo.

Después, él cogió a su pequeño amigo y lo metió dentro de la caja.

“Buenas noches amigo mío”. Dijo, y dejó la caja debajo de su cama.

Next day, Tom awoke early, he was looking forward to seeing his new friend, he took the box from under his bed, but the mouse was still asleep.

So, he left sleeping his friend and prepared himself to go to school.

“See you later my friend.” He said, leaving some cheese inside the box and went out of his bedroom.

In the afternoon, he went back home, he couldn´t wait to see again his new friend, he entered his bedroom and took the box. But the mouse wasn´t there…

“What has happened?” He asked himself. He looked in the wardrobe, inside all the drawers, under the bed, under the bedside table, but the mouse was now here to be seen...

“Where are you my friend?” He asked himself. He was worried about the mouse, and felt completely sad.

Al día siguiente, Tom se despertó temprano, estaba deseando ver a su nuevo amigo. Cogió la caja de debajo de su cama, pero el ratón estaba dormido.

Así que decidió dejar dormir a su amigo y se preparó para ir al colegio.

“Te veré luego amigo” dijo, dejó algo de queso dentro de la caja y salió de su habitación.

Por la tarde, cuando volvió a casa, no podía esperar para ver de nuevo a su nuevo amigo. Corrió a su habitación y cogió la caja. Pero el ratón no estaba allí…

“Qué ha pasado?” Se preguntó. Miró en su ropero, dentro de todos sus cajones, debajo de la cama, debajo de su mesita de noche…pero el ratón no estaba por ningún sitio… “¿Dónde estás amigo?” Se preguntó…Estaba muy preocupado por el ratón y se sintió completamente triste.

Suddenly, Tom heard a burst of laughter coming from the living room. They were mum and dad, they were enjoying but he didn´t know what with.

“Come here, Tom!” Said mum.

He went to the living room and he was amazed by what he saw…

His little mouse was on the table and mum and dad were laughing while they looked at him!!

“Why didn´t you tell us that you had a mouse Tom?” Asked dad..

“Well…I didn´t know if you would like it.” Tom replied.

“He´s lovely.” Mum said.

“We have to think about a name for him.” Dad said.

“What about Peter?” “Do you like it? Asked Tom “Oh…Yes! Peter will be perfect!” Said mum and dad.

De pronto, Tom escuchó unas carcajadas que venían del salón. Eran mamá y papá, ellos estaban disfrutando con algo, pero Tom no sabía con qué.

“Ven aquí Tom”. Dijo mamá. Él fue al salón y se quedó atónito con lo que vio… ¡¡Su pequeño ratón estaba encima de la mesa, y mamá y papá estaban riéndose mientras lo miraban!! “¿Por qué no nos dijiste que tienes un ratón? Preguntó papá..

“Bueno…Yo no sabía si os gustaría..” Respondió Tom. “Es encantador” dijo mamá.

“Tenemos que pensar un nombre para él” dijo papá. “¿Qué tal Peter? ¿Os gusta?” Preguntó Tom. “¡Oh…sí! ¡Peter será perfecto!” Dijeron mamá y papá.

Then Tom, felt completely relieved and happy.

And that´s how, Tom learned that friendship had no barriers, anyone could be your friend, as long as there is respect, generosity and love.

Entonces Tom, se sintió completamente aliviado y feliz.

Y así es como Tom aprendió que la amistad no tenía barreras, cualquiera puede ser tu amigo si hay respeto, generosidad y amor.
