AIBC Melbourne event boosts ‘Make in India’ investment opportunities

The Australia India Business Council (AIBC), with the support of the Indian Consulate, recently hosted a high-profile business event in Melbourne to promote investment under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The event focused on key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and critical minerals, drawing participation from industry leaders, government officials, and business executives.

Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar attended the event, which was attended by around 80 participants, including AIBC National Chair Deepak Raj Gupta, CEO of the Centre for Australia India Relations Tim Thomas, DFAT Director Amb. Tim Kane, and Vish Viswanathan, Industry Chapter Head for Make with India. Other notable attendees included Louise McGrath from the Australia Industry Group, Professor Veena Sahajwala of UNSW’s SMaRT Centre, Professor Mohan Yellishetty from the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub, Chris Bevan of Metallicum Minerals Corporation, Neel Harkishin Bhatia from Invest India, and AIBC Victoria Chapter President Radhika Kanhai.


The event provided an excellent platform for business networking, facilitating discussions on expanding trade ties and investment opportunities between Australia and India. Industry experts highlighted the potential for collaboration in emerging sectors, reinforcing the growing economic partnership between the two nations.
