Molina Asthana, Industry Chapter Head for Sports, Art, and Culture at the Australia India Business Council (AIBC), emphasized the need for greater gender equality in sports at an International Women’s Day event in Canberra, recently.

Organized by the Indian High Commission in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Associations of the ACT Inc. (FINACT), the event brought together community leaders and advocates to discuss the role of women in various fields.

Asthana highlighted the importance of increasing women’s participation in sports, particularly those from diverse backgrounds and ethnic communities. She underscored how engagement in sports promotes both physical and mental well-being while fostering inclusivity and representation.

Encouraging women to take up sports at all levels, she called for continued efforts to break barriers and create more opportunities for female athletes across different sporting disciplines.
