Victoria’s Holi celebrations unite communities in a burst of colour

Victoria came alive recently with colour and festivity as diverse communities across the state celebrated Holi, the Indian festival of colours, with great enthusiasm. The celebrations showcased India’s rich cultural heritage, bringing people together through vibrant colours, traditional music, dance, and delicious cuisine.


Consul General of India in Melbourne, Dr Sushil Kumar, joined the festivities alongside prominent dignitaries, including Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan MP, state ministers, Members of Parliament, councillors, and community leaders. The event underscored the values of joy, unity, and harmony, reinforcing the significance of multiculturalism in Australia.



In a special highlight, Dr Kumar participated in Victoria’s firstever 'Colour Run', an initiative held at Wyndham Central College that engaged students in the Holi spirit. The event aimed to foster inclusivity and cultural awareness among young Australians.



Holi, traditionally celebrated to mark the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil, has become a cherished occasion in Australia’s multicultural calendar, strengthening cultural ties and fostering community bonds.
