Grants to boost support for sports clubs Brisbane, December 15 (Australia India News Newsdesk) Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has awarded more than $2 million to help sports and community clubs improve their facilities. Cr Schrinner said the funding boost will help 19 clubs deliver projects critical to their ongoing success amid rising construction costs. “Brisbane’s sports and community groups are the lifeblood of our suburbs and I’m committed to supporting them,” Cr Schrinner said. “We’ve seen the cost of construction skyrocket and this funding allows clubs to undertake improvements that keep services running. “Roof repairs, irrigation works, upgraded field lighting and new netball hard courts are just some of the projects being funded. “Investing in local sports clubs helps ensure they can continue to be great places where people of all ages can stay active and connect with other residents.” Cr Schrinner said clubs right across Brisbane had benefitted from the grants. “From Aspley to Windsor and Sunnybank to Forest Lake, we’re providing a helping hand right across Brisbane,” he said. “As our suburbs continue to grow, our sports and community groups need to grow with them. “At Forest Lake Junior Rugby League Club, the existing field lighting will be upgraded so night-
