MAKE IT A SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER

MANAGER'S MESSAGE

With the temperatures and ‘real feel’ in the 90’s, I am more inclined to think that we are in the heart of the summer rather than in the decline, with Fall quickly approaching. Regardless of Mother Nature’s agenda, Father Time still marches on, and so do we here at the Club!

August and September are shaping up to be busy months at the club, with a nearly soldoutLobsterNightattheendofAugust and many great events in September, including the Yappy Hour on September 5th!

I hope that in next month’s we are reporting favorable results from the 77th VSGA Women’s State Team Matches event- in which 6 lady golfers will compete against other clubs from across thestateforthetitle!GoTeam!

Thistimewillalsobebusyasthesearchis underway for our next Head Golf Professional.Toprovideanoverviewofthe process, I will share that 12 resumes were received in consideration for the position.Resumes were received from all over the country, several of which are working or have worked within Virginia. At this point, I have reached out to all 12 candidates to conduct a brief phone interview with the intent to outline the details of the club and the Northern Neck region as well as gauge their interest in IndianCreek.Fromthere,Ihopetonarrow the candidate pool to 5 to 6 to then have a Zoom interview with a Search Committee, madeupofvariousleadersof

COMODORE'S CORNER

DidyouknowthatIndianCreekownssix 420 sailing boats and 10 Optimist (Opti) sailing dinghies?Once these boats are set up next to the Pavilion, they are available for all members of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club to borrow for free for an enjoyable sail on Indian Creek. They typically are set up sometime in mid-May and remain available throughout the summer –although some of the 420’s are usually de-rigged after sailing camp. There are currently two 420’s fully rigged and all tenOptisavailableformemberuse.

These vessels are easy to sail (and easy to right if that gust of wind knocks you over). There is nothingmoremagicalthanhavingonlythepowerofwindtoscootyoualongonabeautifulfall afternoon.I encourage everyone to take advantage of this fantastic perk of being a member of ICYCC. And yes, because these boats are owned by ICYCC, all members, whether part of the YachtClubornot, areabletousethem.Whatcouldbemoreenjoyablethananafternooncruise followed by drinks and dinner on the Willow Oaks Terrace as the sun sets behind you?If you’re interestedinusingoneormoreofthesewonderfulboats, contactourSailingMaster,DebbyHoyt orherableassistant,DanHoyt, toarrangetousethem.

As you’re thinking about boating – remember that every member of the Club can dock their boat at the Club’s marina for free. The marina has several small slips that are perfect for docking your center console motorboat and larger open slips for bigger boats to tie up for the dayorovernight.Infact–everymemberoftheClubisallowed5freenightsdockagepermonth foryourvessel.Sowhenconsideringcomingtotheclubtoplaygolf, grablunch, orthatspecial nightout–whynotcomebyboat?EllenandIhavetakenadvantageofthefreeovernightsand canattesttohowwonderfulaneveningatICYCCiswhendiningwithfriendsintheSkipjackand then taking that leisurely walk back to the docks for an overnight aboard our trawler.I’ve even zipped over in our center console for lunch – it really spices up the visit! MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

BUILDING THE BASE

Over the coming months, the ICYCC crew will be going through a series of training and development classes that will focus on important aspects of your member experience and service. The Membership Committee and I are excited about the areas identified and we are thankful for the handful of members who have graciously accepted to be keynote speakers for us. These speakers will encourage the crew on how important each person is to the success of the club and how the club can help them achieve personal goals.

Thank you in advance to these members, as well as the staff for focusing on our best foot forward and building the base as we go into fall and winter months.

WELCOME!

REFFERAL PROGRAM

WHEN YOU SPONSOR A NEW MEMBER, BOTH YOU AND YOUR NEW MEMBER FRIENDS GET $100 TO USE AROUND THE CLUB. THIS CAN BE USED ON ANY NON-DUES ITEM - IT'S JUST A LITTLE WAY TO SAY THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CLUB THIS SUMMER.
