Cultural – Heritage Tourism in India Group of Monuments at Hampi, Karnataka Traditionally known as Pampakshetra of Kishkindha, Hampi is situated on the southern bank of the river Tungabhadra. Once it was the seat of the mighty Vijayanagara empire. The monuments of Vijayanagara city, also known as Vidyanagara in honour of the sage Vidyaranya were built between AD 1336-1570, from the times of Harihara-I to Sadasiva Raya. A large number of royal buildings were raised by Krishnadeva Raya (AD 1509-30), the greatest ruler of the dynasty. The period witnessed resurgence of Hindu religion, art, architecture in an unprecedented scale. The contemporary chroniclers who came from far off countriessuch as Arabia, Italy, Portugal and Russia visited the empire, have left graphic and glowing accounts of the city. It covers an area of nearly 26 sq km and is stated to be enclosed by seven lines of fortifications. Group of Monuments at Hampi entered the UNESCO world heritage list in 1986.

Madhya Pradesh Gets India's First Smart Cities Control Centre In a major step towards realising the centre's smart city mission (SCM), the Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday launched the country's first Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC) for all seven smart cities of the state in Bhopal. The ICCC, installed in a building in Barkheda area of the state capital, would enable the authorities to monitor the status of various smart civic amenities in real-time through the sensors connected to it. 2. Tea industry records highest ever production, export in FY18 Indian tea industry has recorded the highest ever production as well as exports in FY18. The total tea production was 1325.05 million kgs, an increase of 74.56 million kgs as compared to 2016-17. In percentage terms the increase is around 6%. 3. New technique developed to detect chronic kidney disease Indian researchers have developed a technique which can potentially help in rapid detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is a highly sensitive electro-chemical technique, which can be used to detect different stages of the disease. The technique has been put together by researchers of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)’s New Delhi based Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) and Amity University, Rajasthan. 4. 'Study In India' Aims 2 Lakh Foreign Students By 2023 'Study in India' programme of the HRD Ministry has been launched today by Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. With a vision to promote Indian education to foreign students, the initiative has identified 160 higher education institutes for the purpose. Along with the Minister of External Affairs, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Satyapal Singh and diplomats from over 30 countries attended the launch. The programme aims to promote Indian education to 2 lakh international students by 2023. 55% of the total seats will be available, under fee waiver scheme on merit basis. Meet world's youngest female rider from India who conquered Khardung La on her Royal Enfield The latest feather on India's hat is contributed by the 20-year-old, Riya Yadav, who has become the youngest female bike rider around the world to conquer Khardung La, the highest motorable pass in Ladakh. Meet The Farmer Who Created The Unique ‘Sadabahar’ A country which has 1,500 varieties of mangoes, as a nation, we get excited whenever a new aam or amba variety makes its appearance. We each have a different way of eating, peeling and slicing or making aam ras with milk and jaggery—the luscious and fragrant fruit is summer’s greatest gift. The same is happening with ‘Sadabhar’, a mango which flowers thrice a year. Developed by Shree Kishan Suman, a Kota-based horticulturist and farmer, Sadabahar is a recent entrant on the mango-sphere and has quite a few similarities with Alphonso. Delhi: Mural makeover adds colour to flyovers with anti-pollution coating Arms stretched out, a mace (gada) holding in one hand, the picture of Hanuman Ji flying high over the Indian Ocean greets you as you cross the flyover the old Hanuman Mandir at Yamuna Bazar close to Kashmere Gate. The cleanup and creative reinstatement of the busiest flyover has been accomplished with the mutual attempt of the MCD as well as Delhi Street Art.
