Leading regional law firm Harrison Clark recently announced its merger with Herefordshire-based solicitors Shawcross & Co., expanding its geographical presence and legal expertise across the three counties. Following exchange of contracts in March, Harrison Clark, which previously had 181 partners and staff at its Worcester and Cheltenham offices, merged with the Hereford and Ross-on-Wye based firm on 1st July 2011. The expanded firm, continuing to trade as Harrison Clark, now comprises four offices, with a combined total of 24 partners and 182 employees. Shawcross & Co. was established in 1820 and, like Harrison Clark, offers an extensive range of legal services to private and business clients. Shawcross & Co. brings additional private client work to Harrison Clark, as well as further supporting its rural land and business department. With local Herefordshire knowledge and considerable experience, Keith Shawcross joins Harrison Clark as a consultant and Andrew Perrett joins as partner. The merger enhances Harrison Clark’s services to its existing business and private clients across the region, as Jonathan Brew, senior partner at Harrison Clark, explains: “Both Harrison Clark and Shawcross & Co. have a similar ethos of delivering City-quality legal expertise, tailor-made for local people and their businesses. By opening additional offices in Hereford and Ross-on-Wye Harrison Clark are able to provide a more local, yet top quality, service to our Herefordshire clients. Together

“The next step in our strategy to offer the leading legal service in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.” - Rod Thomas we are also able to service existing and new clients across an even wider geographical area, with strengthened capabilities.” Rod Thomas, managing partner and head of business services at Harrison Clark, confirms: “Harrison Clark’s merger with Shawcross & Co. represents the next step in our strategy to offer the leading legal service in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. Merging with Shawcross & Co. represents a significant investment in that strategy, adding valuable breadth and depth to our expertise. We are looking forward to working with Keith, Andrew and their teams as we grow further in the years ahead.” Keith Shawcross, of Shawcross & Co. adds: “Andrew and I are delighted to have merged with Harrison Clark. The expanded firm enables even more clients to access Cityquality, locally located legal expertise across all aspects of law - whether it involves family issues, a company sale or an international business deal. We look forward to developing the business together.” The merger with Shawcross & Co. comes less than two years since Harrison Clark expanded its Worcester practice by merging with Cheltenham-based solicitors Jordans. Since then Harrison Clark has attracted an unprecedented increase in demand for its

strengthened services, and welcomed a number of new partners and staff at both offices. In 2010 the firm also gained both Investors in People (IIP) and the Law Society’s Lexcel accreditation for outstanding customer and staff management. Harrison Clark provides a complete spectrum of City-quality legal services to business and private clients across the south Midlands and beyond. Following the merger with Shawcross & Co. the leading law firm has a total of 206 staff and partners based in Worcester, Cheltenham, Hereford and Ross-onWye. Harrison Clark’s work in all aspects of law is nationally recognised. As well as joining MSI Global Alliance in 2007 - one of the world’s leading international legal and accountancy associations - in 2010 the firm was again recognised for the national quality of its work through a listing in the prestigious Legal 500 and Chamber and Partners lists of the major firms in England and Wales.

United Cast Bar Group

IBP CASTING MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR Like many companies in the last years, United Cast Bar Group has had to adapt their business as a consequence of the global recession, consolidating their manufacturing base from four foundries to two; one in Chesterfield, UK and one in Zaragoza, Spain. By adopting this leaner, more modern approach to business, the company has been able to match production figures of 2007 and continues to enjoy business from across the globe, earning it the title of IBP's Casting Manufacturer of the Year 2011. Established in 1998 after the merger of three of Europe's most prestigious continuous cast iron bar foundries; Eurocast Bar Limited (UK), Starkey's Technicast Limited (UK) and Cast Profil SA (Spain), together with their associated stockists and service centres, United Cast Bar Group manufacture cast iron bars for home, European and Far Eastern markets as well as the USA. As the only wholly concast-iron manufacturer to operate in Europe, United Cast Bar Group is one of the leading manufacturing brands in the world. Despite the consolidation, United Cast Bar Group still enjoys the same production capacity as previous years, with the capability to produce 80,000 plus tonnes of Unibar - the brand of products the company created in 2002. Much of this year's success has come from recent investment in electrical power, enabling the business to melt nearly double the liquid iron as any year prior. Furthermore, investment in a new fume and dust extraction system has enabled the company to boost its product output, whilst reducing their environmental impact and continue to offer the very best service. As the only cast iron manufacturer to boast its very own supply chain network, United Cast Bar Group is able to supply to iron to hydraulic and fluid power control, automotive, oil and gas, defence, general engineering and renewable energy markets across the globe. The business philosophy is to have a global reach but maintain a local presence. The company's aim with Unibar is to establish standards of quality, consistency and customer service that far exceed current market demands and provides the very best technical and

commercial support. It is a prophecy that has helped the company retain its key clients throughout 13 years as the United Cast Bar Group. In fact, even when partner companies move their workforce to such developing countries as China, they tend to move the UNIBAR product with them to ensure that they continue to receive the same consistent and high quality product and service for all their concast iron applications. Unibar is produced in a wide range of sizes and grades to both international standards and customer's specific requirements. Produced in round, square and rectangular shapes with special shapes (profiles) available if required, Unibar is available in a wide range of finishes making it a durable and effective product for most manufacturing industries. United Cast Bar Group (Service) centres offer a range of various machining capabilities from sawn cut lengths to six side milling, their flexibility enabling them to meet the needs of every individual customer. What makes United Cast Bar Group unique is its dedication not just to overseas clients and large industries but also to the smaller, bespoke manufacturers and subcontractors who have irregular requirement for concast iron. UCB is the only cast iron manufacturer

to have its very own distribution/service centres, where all clients can simply walk in and purchase the product there and then. The company understands that it is not just large manufacturing firms that require its products but that some items are often needed immediately. To say that United Cast Bar Group is not as formidable a force within the manufacturing industry would be a stark inaccuracy. More than 270 people work for the company across the business, with each one experienced and highly professional in every job they do. The company continues to dominate European and domestic markets and harbors the ambition to conquer many more corners of the Far and Middle East in years to come, as well as developing its trade with America currently their goods are distributed

through strategic partners in the US. As the business sector becomes more and difficult to achieve success in, companies like United Cast Bar Group continue to defy all the odds and come out fighting, which is why the business is our official Casting Manufacturer of the Year. SHP Engineering Ltd

IBP ENGINEERING COMPANY OF THE YEAR Excel in the unusual

The last 12 months has seen Cambridgeshire-based SHP Engineering Ltd continue to enjoy major business wins and experience new areas of market domination. As well as continuing to supply racing vehicles to such established brands as the Pickup Truck

Championship, the firm has also extended its partnership with popular BBC motor show Top Gear, supplying the series with a number of vehicles for its MPH Live tour, including two Porsches, two Mustangs and a prototype supercar. Furthermore, the company has

continued to work with all of its national clients, adding new business partnerships all the time, without making a song and dance about its success and service. SHP Engineering Ltd is not a company to brag or show off about its overwhelming success in the

auto car market, instead preferring to continue its hard work and make further ground with new and existing clients, earning it the title of In Business Publishing's Engineering Company of the Year. Continued on pages 6 &7

IBP ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 2011

Currently available is the race spec space frame RSR MkI Escort, which has featured in several publications such as Retroford Magazine where it adorned the front cover as well as receiving 10 pages of coverage inside the magazine. Production is also underway for a short wheel based version of the Mazda RX8 due to be available later this year. All vehicles produced by SHP can be purchased as a turn key vehicle or as a rolling kit with everything available for the customer to self build. SHP Engineering Ltd offers advice, technical assistance, project planning and bespoke engineering solutions to a wide range of businesses. Although the roots of the company was set in race build and preparation during the early 1980s, the firm's skills now extend beyond motor sport and from the basic engineering to the outlandish and extreme.

Working in close partnership with M & D Body Shop, which is situated just down the road from SHP's main workshop, the company specialises in making the impossible possible. SHP is pursued every week by clients to produce new vehicles, projects or components or work on existing vehicles that need a new lease of life.

IBP ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 2011 Engineering Ltd is a large company; the size of the business is dictated by its global reputation, its awardwinning products and services as well as its popular demand. However, the company takes great pride in continuing to implement the values and traditions that helped the company establish itself thirty years ago. This is why to this day the business offers a personal, friendly and reliable service to all its clients. With a total of just seven staff, SHP Engineering Ltd has the necessary skills and workmanship to accommodate large jobs whilst also offering a unique service where each client is treated as a friend to the business as opposed to just another number - an approach that has seen the company retain its impressive client base year after year.

This encompasses everything from the mechanics of the vehicle right down to the paintwork and tyres. With a total of four dedicated workshop professionals, specialising in reverse engineering, SHP boasts the ability to produce whatever is required in the time it would normally take another company to simply draw up a plan of the work. With over 20 years experience producing tubular chassis used for circuits and off road racing, SHP designs, develops and produces roll cages to suit customer requirements, also providing assistance to small companies by offering roll cage kits that can be self-assembled. With ongoing support included in all the company's products, it is not surprising that SHP Engineering Ltd beat off tens of rival companies to be named the IBP Engineering Company of the Year! It is the kind of professionalism and outstanding skill that the company has shown in its thirty-year history that has helped it enjoy long lasting partnerships with some of the largest racing associations and brand names in the UK. Utilising its three decades of experience, the company is involved in short and long track oval racing, sharing its views on how to make motor sport in the UK a profitable and exciting enterprise generating new growth and enthusiasm for future generations of drivers, mechanics, motor racing officials and staff. Many applications have been produced at the SHP workshop; some bear the company's recognised name and some do not but they all share one thing in common - revolutionary design and outstanding performance. Such performance is recognisable on every bit of work the company carries out whether it be on suspension components, axle and transmission conversions, or smaller servicing and repair jobs. Its not just in auto car racing where SHP Engineering Ltd have excelled over the past 12 months and even beyond that. For the company has

THE PERA COACHING FOR HIGH GROWTH AWARDS

Kennedy-Little Associates RUNNER UP PERA COACH OF THE YEAR 2011 Improved customer service satisfaction, increased sales, 12 new clients, a reduction in staff turnover and improvement in team morale are just some of the many benefits that Derbybased Office Care Ltd enjoyed after working with PERA Business Coach Anne Kennedy. In fact, so effective Anne was in bringing results to Office Care and improving the business, that they nominated her for the award of PERA Coach of the Year 2011, which she has recently been announced the runner-up for. Anne, who runs Kennedy-Little Associates, a strategic development and mentoring business, has been working as a PERA Coach since November 2008 and spent eight months working with Office Care Ltd. Her aims upon being assigned to the company after they applied to PERA for business coaching, were to help the business develop its business plan with clear goals, involve staff in the business

planning process, review management resources, support the development of a strategic marketing plan and advise on setting up an appraisal process - all of which she achieved with effective results. In fact, Anne proved such an asset to Office Care Ltd that they are already in talks to extend their working relationship even further after the summer. The partnership was all arranged after Office Care, a family-run company providing office and commercial cleaning services to business within the Derbyshire area, applied to take part in the Coaching For High Growth scheme. The programme aims to help ambitious businesses in the East Midlands to expand their bottom line through a tailored package of intensive coaching. The initiative is majority funded by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) and the European Development Fund (ERDF) and run by Melton-Mowbray-based innovation and

support organisation PERA. It is no surprise that Anne did so well as a Business Development Coach with PERA, for the work required echoes the services offered by her current business, Kennedy-Little Associates Ltd. Established in 1999 under the name Business Development Services, Anne's company has grown to work with such businesses as Pattonair and Zibrant in Derby, Nottingham County Council and the University of Birmingham as well as other SMEs in a broad range of sectors. With the Conservative government

pledging funding for a new programme in 2012 to aid job creation, economic and business growth there has never been a better time to hire Anne and take advantage of her skills. For more information contact KennedyLittle Associates Ltd on:

Mobex Ltd

IBP EXHIBITION COMPANY OF THE YEAR The last 12 months have been highly successful for exhibition and roadshow specialists Mobex Ltd. Despite difficulties facing all businesses due to the economic recession, Mobex has been able to significantly increase its market share in the general exhibition trailer hire business and seen increases in both trailer build and indoor stage design and build order intake. The business has supplied exhibition units to nearly 1000 events for clients, an uptake of last year's figure of 600 and remains the one brand associated with all large and small scale trade exhibitions, earning it the title of IBP's official Exhibitions Company of the Year 2011. Established nearly 50 years ago as part of a haulage company becoming a limited company in 1996, Mobex started by providing trailers for Agricultural and County shows. Today, Mobex is involved in all sorts of different exhibitions and runs a global operation, having recently started working with a Dutch agency installing their stands in the UK. Mobex has regular clients from Germany, Austria, France and Eire and has had interest for both trailer builds and road shows from prospective clients in USA, Greece and India, proving there are no limits to Mobex's aspirations.

The issue every company faces is where to spend the limited resource it has on marketing. Mobex gives business owners and managers the ability to take their products or services directly to

their chosen market place. They are directly able to associate the cost of this type of marketing spend with the outcome. It is cost effective and enables face to face selling time with
