PERA HIGH GROWTH COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD

Nick worked with Pyrotect Ltd to help develop the business and boost its marketing appeal. As a specialist fire protection, fire stopping, acoustic and air-sealing company, the company is competing in a difficult market but Nick's vision and knowledge of business has enabled the company to emerge as a leader in its field. Through working with staff at the company and identifying opportunities for enterprise and growth, Nick has not only helped increase worker loyalty at the company, but has also helped Pyrotect Ltd add acoustic separation as one of its

specialist areas of expertise for buildings, together with its core of fire protection systems. Furthermore, since working with Nick, Pyrotect Ltd has also begun to target specific like-minded customers that could benefit from its services, as opposed to canvassing mass numbers of businesses. By working with clients at a pre-tender stage to advise on cost and program implications for different methods of passive fire protection, Pyrotect Ltd already had the raw ingredients for success before Nick's coaching. However, the company had stagnated in terms of turnover, partly due to market conditions, and needed Nick's knowledge and innovative thinking to move it forward. After 13 years in business the company has plans to expand its regional client base to include work in Wales, Western England and further afield, in order to meet demand. With Nick continuing to work with the company on a consultancy basis, there is no limit to the heights that Pyrotect Ltd can reach in the coming months. David Harris, Managing Director of Pyrotect Ltd said of Nick: "He was a really switched on guy and we benefited greatly from his help. He thoroughly deserves his High Growth award for he really helped us move forward as a company and boosted staff morale. We look forward to working with him in the future and enjoying even more progression as a business." For more information contact Pyrotect Ltd on:

Matthew Roe has been working for La Rock's parent company G4 Inns for five years after originally joining as a kitchen hand and has since moved his way up the ranks to be appointed on the management team of this new venture. of the flow of traffic across the town as well as improving the environmental aspects of the Town Centre. Not only has this reduced congestion but has also made journey times through the town quicker. An improvement to Waterside and surrounding roads leading up to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, complements the new RSC Theatre redevelopment and is a great improvement to the area and will contribute to ensuring that Stratford continues to attract tourists to the locality. . During this summer there is an extensive programme of surface dressing existing roads, this is a process that seals the road from ingress of water and provides improved skid resistance. This enhances the performance of the road, makes it

safer and reduces the likelihood of potholes appearing in the future. Furthermore, Warwickshire County Council has been granted capital spends in order to deal with the increasing problem of potholes in the area. Harsh winters have increased the amount of potholes in Warwickshire's roads but the council has already secured an additional ÂŁ1 million to tackle the issue and will be working closely with local businesses and the public to make Warwickshire's roads easier to travel on.

JAMES & OWEN LTD ROOTS DATING AS FAR BACK AS 1892 Very few stationers can claim 85 years as a limited company but then very few offer the same kind of personal and friendly service that has helped Stroud-based James & Owen Ltd remain at the forefront of their market for so long. The family business has roots dating as far back as 1892 but it was not until 1958 that it set up shop in its current location on the London Road. Current manager Peter Withey only got involved in running the business in 1982 by chance after agreeing to take over for two weeks while his father was in hospital. Fast forward 29 years and Peter is still stocking a diverse range of stationery products for businesses and the general public, at the heart of James & Owen Ltd. With a team of six full-time and one part-time staff, the company's store is approximately 850 square feet - 650 of which is occupied solely by stationery products for sale. Many brand names can be found within the store, including Parker, Uniball, Durable and Pentel, and James & Owen Ltd will also source a lower price alternative wherever possible. Just by recommending the Parker range to customers, James & Owen recently won a long weekend in New York form the brand. Parker ran a mystery shopper activity for all key pen specialists, rewarding those that recommended the brand with a Parker Duofold, one of the most prestigious products in the Parker family range. James & Owen Ltd were then entered along with other stores that recommended Parker, into a prize draw to win a long weekend in New York, which the company won out of over 300 entrants. Copy work has always been rich in the company's service history but only recently has James & Owen Ltd been able to work from a dedicated copy shop. After

extending the shop floor four years ago, the company now has its own copy shop in-house, able to offer scanning, copy and fax facilities as well as binding and laminating in bulk or single form. Such a commodity has enabled James & Owen to work even more closely with many of its top clients on a more regular basis. Staff and customers have stuck by James & Owen for many years throughout the history of the business, regularly returning for repeat business. Such loyalty has enabled the company to build a reputation as a business that offers exceptional customer service, understanding its clients' needs and outlasting competition from a number of bigger-name stationery chains. Peter Withey is a member of buying group The Office Club, meaning that the company benefits from their consultancy services as well as support from Exaclair (formerly Tollit and Harvey) , helping them to highlight where they can make improvements in store. You can always be sure that you are receiving the very best service and products from James & Owen Ltd, helping them to achieve even more years as one of the region's best stationers.

ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY SET TO TRAVEL The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is set to travel across the Atlantic, from its traditional home in Stratford-Upon-Avon to the bright lights of New York. The expert logistics services of freight forwarder, Embassy Freight Services (Midlands), based in Sutton Coldfield, have been enlisted, to transport the RSC’s flat-packed theatre all the way to The Amory, on Park Avenue, in New York. After the first containers left Liverpool Port last week, the first shipment is currently halfway through its journey, and is expected to arrive next week (1st June). The entire shipment will have arrived at the Amory by 17th June. Once assembled in its temporary home, the RSC will perform a series of classic plays, before the theatre is dismantled for Embassy to transport home again, after its 13-week stay. The RSC have been working tirelessly to build the 900-seat replica of the Courtyard Theatre, in Warwickshire, to be housed in the Amory. Crowds of Americans are expected to flock to the site on Park Avenue, to experience worldfamous performances, including Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It and King Lear. Delivering such a large, complex consignment, is a first for Embassy Freight Services (Midlands), but the team are relishing the opportunity to deliver the staging. Paul Wright, Operations Director explains: “This is the first time we’ve shipped such a large auditorium. We’re shipping the whole stage, from the structure, through to the lighting, the seating and the props.” The whole process has been planned to the last detail. Mr Wright continued: “In fourteen months of planning with the RSC, we have developed a thorough logistics

plan, with details on the ten to eleven-day transit across the Atlantic, through to the storage and delivery for re-construction at the Amory. “This is all being completed within a two-week window. We will track the consignment right down to the nuts and bolts”, he added. The story of the RSC making the journey overseas to the ‘Big Apple’ has already been making headlines on BBC Midlands Today, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire radio and other West Midlands press. It is hoped that the continued success of this unique voyage will be celebrated long into the summer shows. Paul Wright added: “The RSC have been a pleasure to work with.” This major project is a testament to the resilience of a West Midlands logistics firm who, now in their 10th year, remain triumphant in the face of challenging economic times.
