User Content?

Exhibition opening night

LawTech Collider, Legal Innovation Centre and Belfast School of Art

This exhibition explores the individual’s relationship with their data. What does it mean to tick ‘I Agree’ to the T&Cs of apps or web services? Colliding creative practice with insights from law and tech, the exhibition interrogates the power imbalance between individual data subjects and giant corporate data users. User Content? probes what this relationship means to us as individuals and asks how content we are with it.

This interdisciplinary collaboration between creative practice and legal tech is the first cocreation of LawTech Collider, a project at the Legal Innovation Centre of Ulster University, which promotes creative practice as a means to explore law’s ability to control digital technological processes for society’s good.

Future

As almost 50% of the global population will vote in 2024, what are some of the lessons we can learn from past elections and democratic upheavals. Is voter misinformation a new phenomenon? What will elections look like a decade from now? How can the lessons of the past inform our understanding of our democratic future? And how has the rise of social media changed the way people engage with parties and policies?

If you have an interest in history, politics or anything in between, join us for this lively discussion where our panel of economic historians, chaired by a stand-up comedian, debate threats to democracy old and new.

It is less common for parents to be actively involved in developing guidance which will be of benefit to them and other carers of young children. Join us as we share some findings from our recent research in this area and we ask parents/carers to explore the questions they most want answers to.
