1. Workshop

on

sustainable

development

and

Saudi

universities role.

Hosting the Director General of the General Department of Strategy and Harmonization at the Assistant Agency for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Economy and Planning to hold a workshop entitled (Sustainable Development and the Role of Saudi Universities), in order to discuss the following topics: Introducing the SDGs, clarifying the relationship of the SDGs to the achievement of the Saudi Vision 2030, and the role of Saudi universities in achieving the objectives (workshop report) 



Contribute to spreading awareness of the importance of the SDGs through the number of people registered in the workshop, which exceeded 900 people from different groups of society; such as public universities, private universities, ministries, the sector, and students (Beneficiary Categories Table) Highlighting the effective role of the Agency for Sustainable Development at Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University on its interest in the SDGs and the achievement of the Saudi Vision 2030 (announcement of the workshop is on the MOE's website)

Mawhiba (King Abdulaziz and His Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity)

Companions

Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, in cooperation with King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, hosts the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Summer Program 2021, through which promising students with talent and creativity receive advanced scientific knowledge and expertise that challenges their abilities, develops their skills, and provides them with appropriate support for their development and refinement, with participation of 168 male and female students.

The Agency for Sustainable Development participated in Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Summer Program 2021 through nominating faculty members to participate in the sustainable development awareness

5. Talented Female Students are the Future Enrichment (Ministry of Education) The program consists of a set of training workshops in specialized areas to provide talented students with several tools benefiting them in their academic and professional future in fulfillment of the principle of continuous and sustainable education.



Most prominent goals:

1.

Enriching female students in specialized areas through experts.

2.

Developing female students' personal and thinking skills.

3.

Introduce female students to different disciplines and work areas so that they can choose the areas that are most suitable for their abilities.

4.

Develop and acquire positive attitudes towards innovation, scientific research and self-learning.

Ethra’at Almostaqbal ( 2020) College of

Design

Ethra’at Almostaqbal is a collaboration between Talented Unit at office of Education in Alkhobar and College of design. The program took up to three weeks. During that phase, 11 faculty members from all three departments participated though providing several workshops varied between all Design field. There were 112 intermediate and high school students who registered to attend the workshops.

Design Summer School

Design Summer School is a virtual educational initiative provided by College of Design created during Covid-19. The initiative provided multiple scientific lectures, on Zoom, within the field of design -details in the Photo (1& 2) below- Enabling multiple community segments who are interested to attend for free, fulfilling the concept of sustainable education and embracing the social responsibility sense between all College of Design members and graduates. The lectures were hosted between 2-27 of August 2020. The total registered users were 1000+ and the average number of attendees during a lecture was 110.

‫ً‪ :‬المسابقة الوطنية المعمارية لتصميم حي سمايا‪.‬‬ ‫سابعا‬ ‫برعاية أمير المنطقة الشرقية صاحب السمو الملكي‬ ‫األمير سعود بن نايف بن عبدالعزيز عبر االتصال المرئي‬ ‫المسموع‪ ،‬وبحضور صاحب السمو الملكي األمير أحمد بن‬ ‫فهد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز نائب أمير المنطقة‬ ‫الشرقية تم تدشين المسابقة الوطنية المعمارية لتصميم‬ ‫حي سمايا وذلك يوم األثنين الموافق‪21‬ديسمبر‪2020‬م‪ ،‬وقد‬ ‫تم ذلك بالتعاون مع وزارة اإلسكان بالمنطقة الشرقية‬ ‫ولجنة اإلسكان التطوعي وجامعة االمام عبدالرحمن بن‬ ‫فيصل الشريك االكاديمي ممثلة بعمادة خدمة المجتمع‬ ‫والتنمية المستدامة‪.‬‬ ‫أهداف المسابقة‪:‬‬ ‫‪ -1‬تخطيط وتصميم حي سكني يحقق االستدامة ويؤمن جودة‬ ‫الحياة لساكنيه ويتوافق مع اشتراطات البلدية‬ ‫ووزارة اإلسكان‪.‬‬ ‫‪ -2‬أن يعكس المشروع هوية المنطقة الشرقية بطريقة‬ ‫معاصرة‪.‬‬ ‫‪ -3‬التنويع في أحجام وأشكال الوحدات السكنية لكي‬ ‫تتناسب مع أحجام األسر المستفيدة مع دمج مستفيدي‬ ‫اإلسكان التنموي مع شرائح المجتمع المختلفة في‬ ‫نسيج عمراني متناغم‪.‬‬ ‫‪ -4‬تخصيص جزء من الحي كنشاط استثماري يسهم في‬ ‫ميزانية الصيانة والتشغيل وتأمين فرص للعمل ألسر‬ ‫اإلسكان التنموي‪.‬‬

(Ministry of Housing) Launching the National Architectural Competition for the Design of the Semaya Neighborhood Under the patronage of the Governor of the Eastern Province, HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, in the presence of HRH Prince Ahmed bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, via audio-visual communication, the National Architectural Competition for the Design of the Semaya Neighborhood was launched on Monday, December 21, 2020, in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing in the Eastern Province, the Voluntary Housing Committee and Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, the academic partner, represented by the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development.

Planning and designing a residential neighborhood that achieves sustainability, ensures the quality of life for its residents, and complies with the requirements of the municipality and the Ministry of Housing.

The project should reflect the eastern province identity in a contemporary manner.

Diversifying the sizes and shapes of housing units to suit variant beneficiary families, together with integrating the development housing beneficiaries with the various society categories in a harmonious urban fabric.

Allocating a part of the neighborhood to be an investment activity that would contribute to the maintenance and operation budget and provide job opportunities for development housing families.



Most Notable Accomplishments

1.

Achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 regarding the implementation of professional volunteer work in the area of housing.

2.

Providing an accompanying scientific program that includes a number of scientific lectures in the field of development housing, through a number of volunteering academics specialized in architecture and design.

3.

Attracting a number of Saudi universities, engineering offices and society members specialized in engineering to provide innovative solutions to design a sustainable neighborhood.

Qualifying approximately 35 integrated projects to compete in finals.

Providing designs for sustainable housing projects that serve the beneficiaries of development housing in the Eastern Province.

The scientific lectures accompanying the National Architectural Competition for the Design of the Semaya Neighborhood were launched on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, and ended on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The lectures included the basics of architecture, planning and architectural designs in general.
