Endangered frog found in the Murrumbidgee catchment for the first time on record In mid-November, Murrumbidgee MER team member Dr Damian Michael along with three Honours students were conducting systematic surveys for nocturnal snakes and frogs in the Junction Wetlands region west of Balranald when they found an adult Painted Burrowing Frog. The PBF is endangered in NSW and only known from a handful of sightings at two locations, Scotia Sanctuary and Pooncarie. This new record represents a third region, a first for the Murrumbidgee catchment. More on page 11
Research Impact/ Influence Many of our members’ research projects and engagement activities were showcased in the University’s inaugural 2020 Sustainability Development Goals Report, which again demonstrates the significant impact/influence of our members’ research. Other examples this issue include research on sloane’s froglet, red pandas in Bhutan, and innovative nest boxes now being produced commercially. Read more page 16.
