“Kids have been the core of my inspiration and experience. I have worked with international kids' footwear brands based in Europe, the USA, and South America for the last 15 years where I came to understand the ins and out of kids’ footwear.” Says Sanchit Kundra. Last year, Sanchit started a firm ( buying house) Work system and now he is on the way to establishing another one called Freshfeet which is a comfortable leather footwear manufacturing company for children.

As the name suggests, Freshfeet is aiming to keep the kids’ feet healthy and fresh even when they wear shoes for long hours. Sanchit has come up with amazing technologies to achieve this goal.

“We are introducing innovative Fresh1947feet technology in the shoe which is going to change a lot of things having been practiced in a wrong way earlier.”, Sanchit explains his ideology. “The shoes are made of breathable leather (materials like leather, vegan products)which will let the feet have space to breathe and thus they will stay healthy and fresh. Secondly, we have incorporated dual-fit technology also which will allow the same shoe to have 1.5 to 2 sizes extra fit and the kids will be able to wear the same shoe without messing with the shape and comfort of their feet.”

Sanchit derived the inspiration to manufacture kids' footwear imbued with new Fresh1947feet technology from his daughter and she was the very first kid to try on the innovative shoes. It was 2 years back when his now 6-year-old daughter started going to school and wore normal synthetic school shoes for the first time. She complained of uneasiness and discomfort since she wore the shoes for comparatively longer hours. “I came up with this innovative idea and made her wear the first sample.”, Sanchit says. “She never complained of discomfort ever since and happily wears the shoes every day.”

The founder waited for a few months to experiment with his second idea. “Six months later when her feet grew a little, I got to experiment with my second innovation, and fortunately, it worked. She has been wearing the same set of shoes for 2 years now.”

The foundation of the Kundra family’s entrepreneurial journey can be traced back to the time before independence. The family originally belongs to Pakistan and once owned a shoe shop in Pakistan before the partition. Sanchit has inherited his entrepreneurial skills from his grandfather and father.

In 2002, at the young age of 19 years, Sanchit joined the footwear trading business which was then operated by his uncle. “My father left us to the heavenly abode when I was 14 years old. After my graduation, I joined my uncle to learn and gain experience, while continuing my studies alongside.”, he says. Sanchit gained enormous experience while working with his uncle. He got the opportunity to understand and learn innovative ideologies as he dealt with big international brands that helped him broaden his perspective. Although he was handling the business efficiently still, he felt, something was lacking. Since the family business was more into trading shoes, “It was like buying shoes from small manufacturers and selling them across India.”, he says. “My vision was entirely different from what the previous generations were doing. I wanted to invent and create something that would bring revolution to the footwear industry. So I introduced footwear manufacturing in our company.”

Back then, Sanchit’s family business was dominating the domestic market. In 2008 the company started exporting its products to the overseas market. Slowly and steadily, the business started growing and by 2012, 90% of the foot-wears manufactured in the company made its way to the international market while maintaining its strength over the domestic market.

He is the first entrepreneur to introduce this tech in India and next, he will introduce it to the rest of the world. “This technology is brand new. We have applied for the patent and license for the same last year. Hopefully, we will receive the patent in the coming months”, Sanchit says, “Fresh1947feet technology is the USP of the company which will ensure the hygiene, safety, comfort, and growth of kids’ feet at every stage of life”, he adds.

Following his vision to create innovative products, Sanchit is now on the way to launching the exclusive and innovative Fresh1947feet technology which is an amalgamation of antibacterial and antiviral properties, dual-fit features, and breathable material.

Sanchit Kundra is a creative, innovative, and adventurous entrepreneur who has a rich experience of over 20 years in the footwear industry. A commerce graduate from the reputed St. John’s College, Agra, Sanchit had always been a bright student and dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur. He stepped into entrepreneurship when he just entered adolescence and took the mantle to be the breadwinner for his family; to support his mother, and most importantly to follow his childhood ambition. Sanchit is adventurous by heart and loves participating in car-race, tracking, long drives, traveling, and interacting with people.

Sanchit, you were associated with your family company for a long time and now you have launched a firm of your own with an entirely innovative Tech. How are you feeling right now?

Bringing something new is great for everyone and the same is with me. I’m very much excited.

Besides, this product is totally exclusive and innovative so this makes me really proud that I am the flag-holder here. Now we are launching in India only but slowly we will go overseas and it will bring a revolution in the industry. So I feel happy that I’m doing something to make my country proud.

According to statistics, in India, 40 crore kids go to school. We are now starting with just 1% of this figure in the first phase and slowly we will increase the production. We want each Indian kid to have at least one pair of shoes with Fresh1947feet tech.

Such a huge production will require big investments which is our major challenge. We are collaborating with many investors and financial institutions.

Hopefully, everything will be sorted soon.

What kind of challenges are you facing right now when you are establishing a new firm on your own?

I have planned to launch the footwear in big volume on pan-India level, which we will do in two phases.

Such a big launch needs huge investment, infrastructure, manpower, machinery, etc. We are facing challenges in terms of everything that I mentioned.

That experience is my core value. I parted my ways from the family company because I had an entirely different vision but while working there, I have had the best experience of my life. I have worked with many big brands like Hush Puppies, Bata, Penguin, and Ben Sherman. As the work demanded, I used to travel a lot before Covid started. I got to see different things in developed countries like the UK, the USA, etc. I got to know and understand their perspective, I made several discoveries and conceived innovative ideas. That was an extremely rich experience and now I am incorporating everything I have learned and experienced so far in my new venture along with fresh ideas.

Sanchit, please explain what is Fresh1947feet technology?

Fresh1947feet is entirely an innovative project and the intermediary of our main company. We are introducing this feature in our shoes for the first time in the entire country.

School-going children do a lot of activities during the entire day. Their feet must stay protected all the time. Suppose, they kick a football or run or do anything, their feet take a lot of tolls. Moreover, kids grow super fast. Our elegant leather shoes are designed employing Fresh1947Feet™ Technology which provides extra comfort and extra protection. It comes with antibacterial and anti-viral properties that keep the feet fresh and healthy. The dual-fitting feature provides accurate fitting and enables the kids to wear the same shoe for a comparatively longer tenure.

How did you conceive the idea of the dualfit/multi-fit technology and incorporate the same in the shoes?

I have worked with many clients and several brands based in the UK. I have seen the shoes manufactured by these companies. As every person has a different type of feet width, the shoes manufactured by UK-based companies (for example) are designed to accommodate different types of feet. My parents used to buy bigger-sized shoes for me when I was a kid and I am sure every parent does the same. But, very few, actually know that the loosely fitted shoe can cause a lot of

damage to the soft feet of kids. Last year, during covid, I came up with the term dual-fit and also with the idea to experiment with the length of the shoe and planned to design shoes to accommodate the fast-growing length of kids’ feet. We would be able to accommodate at least half to one size more. I thought that if this idea works out, it can be very beneficial for the kids who are at the growing stage and save the parents from the expensive ordeal of buying shoes every six months.

How does this Technology work? Is it the material of the shoes that expand/stretchable?

Or is it an entirely different thing?

We use regular material which is mainly leather.

Certain technical changes have been made to the standard shoe last mold. Besides, the fussbett is designed in such a way that when you remove the first fussbett it adds a little extra length to the shoes.

These two modifications help accommodate the growing feet. I would like to add here that even if we remove the fussbett, there is an extra layer of memory foam so we are not compromising anywhere with the comfort ratio of the shoe.

What type of material is used in the shoes that come with Fresh1947feet technology?

For the kids’ school shoes, we are using LWGtagged leather because LWG-certified leather manufacturers don’t use any harmful substances or chemicals which may be hazardous for the feet.

Another reason for using this material is that it is breathable. It doesn’t allow sweat to accumulate in the child’s feet and the feet will remain healthy. This will protect the skin also. We mainly use LWGtagged leather because it’s eco-friendly. It’s made from by-products instead of animal skin. So no animal is harmed to manufacture the leather. By using LWG-tagged leather we are helping the environment, we are protecting the animals, and we are keeping kids’ feet safe at the same time.

How long will it take for the products to be available on the website?

Right now, we have crossed the development stage.

We are going to start with the school shoes in the first phase, which will probably take three months.

Then, in the next phase, we are going to add the fashion category along with different sports sneakers. I hope we will be able to display the school shoes on our website in a couple of months, though a few samples are already available, and the other categories will follow shortly.

Where do you procure the raw material from?

We procure leather from the Southern part of India which is one of the best places to source the raw material. The working conditions are really great there and some of the oldest leather manufacturing firms are located in South India. There are many other materials which we get from the north part of India, mainly from Agra. 99% of the materials are ‘made in India’ and is procured from India so we can say that our product is truly Indian.

Where can the customers buy the products from?

In the first phase, we will be launching the footwear on the official website www.freshfeet.in five major ecomm portals Amazon, Flipkart, Nyka, Mantra, and First. During the second phase, we be going for the hypermarkets like reliance, etc. so that our shoes would be available offline in the major stores. We are trying to connect with some schools also so that the parents of the school-going kids can approach us easily and get the footwear at the best nominal prices.

What are your expectations from this new innovative tech?

This is an exclusive Tech and Freshfeet is the only company launching it in India for the first time. I have worked for over 20 years in the footwear industry and have never seen or heard of these features in a single shoe be it of any famous brand.

We will be launching this tech in school shoes as well as in formal-wear and casual-wear also. The shoes are designed keeping in mind the health, growth, safety, and comfort of kid’s feet. I assure all the buyers that they will not feel cheated and will like to buy shoes again and again from our company only. People will have a lot of variety to choose from at very affordable prices.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have received so far regarding this company?

Being in this industry for over 20 years and working internationally, I have a very good network overseas. Initially, I planned to launch this technology in the international market because of my network.

My friends who have been very supportive to me advised me to launch it in India first and then go for the international market. I am happy that I followed their advice and am proud to serve my country.

Who has been the pillar of strength throughout your life?

My mom has always supported and guided me throughout my life. I lost my father when I was a teenager. My mom kept herself strong for the sake of her children. She didn’t marry again and focussed on us entirely. She sacrificed her life, worked hard to raise us, and provided us with the best. Despite all the hardships she went through, she always managed to keep herself calm, composed, and positive and always finds ways to give us the best guidance.

What would be your message for the people who wish to be an entrepreneur ?

As an entrepreneur, I would tell them that life is about ‘taking risk’ and ‘taking the next step’ and so is entrepreneurship. This journey is full of challenges. You will come across several issues and dead-ends everyday. Be optimistic and keep moving forward because there is nothing to lose in the next step. You will gain some experience, learn something new, and grow in different ways.

The footwear industry is like a deep ocean and you will have to dive-in to understand and explore. You will learn from the experiences of several people you will meet which will help you beet the hurdles. So, it’s advisable to take calculated risks and keep on moving because the risk is everywhere in life, you don’t have to be afraid, just keep moving.

‘We connected with more local farmers to procure varieties of tea and tried creating different blends.’, he said.

‘The concept of curating value-added teas using local herbs and spices was a unique and risk-taking decision as this market was a niche market and not well explored.’, the founding Director, Mr. Baruah narrates the startup story. ‘We were convinced that consistency in quality and a good tea would always be appreciated by the customers. We moved ahead with this belief and made 5 blends initially.’

His personal experience of tea-tasting, the various processes of tea production, Ranjit’s Hotel Management degree, and his experience of 20 years of working in the hotel industry became the perfect blend while establishing Aromica Tea which came in handy during the process and hence the company was founded and has been steadily serving it’s customers ever since.

The conviction of the founders and the excellence of the tea was captivating for the customers.

The initial positive response from the customers encouraged the venture to come up with more exclusive blends.

Who doesn’t love ladoos? From kids to adults to senior citizens, everyone loves ladoos and wants to eat them to their heart's content. A higher percentage of carbs and fat from Sugar and ghee in the ladoos makes them really unhealthy. Eating ghee, in moderate quantity though, is often recommended by health specialists and considered good for joints. Here are some ladoo recipes with moderate ghee content and replacing sugar jaggery making them super healthy yet tasty.

Dry Fruit Ladoo INGREDIENTS Cashews - 50 Grams Almonds - 50 Grams Pistachios - 50 Grams Walnuts - 50 Grams Raisins - 70 Grams Dates - 70 Grams Cardamom powder - 1 Tsp PROCESS Dry roast the cashews, almonds, pistachios, and walnuts until they turn aromatic and pinkish brown.

Keep stirring to avoid burning them. Coarsely grind them in a blender. Next, dry roast raisins and dates and grind them into a coarse powder.

Mix the prepared dry-fruits mixture and add cardamom powder. The oil from the dry fruits is just enough to bind them together. If it feels dry, add 1-2 tbsp ghee Scoop out a small amount of mixture and roll them in round balls. Store the ladoos in an airtight container and enjoy healthy ladoos.

Coconut Mawa Ladoo INGREDIENTS

Desiccated coconut – 1 cup Ghee - 1 tbsp Almonds - 1 tbsp Pistachios - 1 tbsp 20

PROCESS Dry roast the desiccated coconut for 5 - 7 minutes.

Next, dry roast the dry fruits and grind them into a coarse powder. Take out 1tbsp and set aside for garnishing the ladoos. Roast the mawa until it is slightly pink. Cooldown everything until they are a little warm to touch. Mix toasted coconut, dry fruits mixture, roasted mawa, and powdered jaggery, cardamom powder together. Scoop out a little mixture at a time and bind them in round balls. Coat the ladoos in desiccated coconut and sprinkle the dry-fruit mixture on top. Refrigerate them and enjoy.

Oats, Sesame, and Besan Ladoo INGREDIENTS INGREDIENTS Ghee – 4 tsp Oats- ½ cup White Sesame- 2Tbsp Gram flour – 1cup Jaggery powder- 1 and ½ cup Cardamom powder - 1 tsp Raisin – 1tsp, chopped Almonds- 1tsp Cashew- 1 tsp Milk- 1/4th cup

PROCESS Dry roast oats in a pan for 5-7 minutes on medium flame. Grind them into fine powder after cooling down and set aside. Roast sesame seeds until aromatic and churn them in a grinder for 1-2 pulses.

Add ghee in a pan and roast gram flour on lowmedium flame until aromatic. Add the oats powder and sesame and roast for another 4-5 minutes. Cool down the mixture until it is slightly warm to the touch. Add powdered jaggery, cardamom powder, roasted and powdered dry fruits. Mix everything.

Next, add warm milk and combine well. Scoop out little mixture and bind them in the shape of ladoos.

Refrigerate them and enjoy

Mawa Sesame Ladoos INGREDIENTS White Sesame – ½ cup Ghee - 1 tbsp Almonds - 1 tbsp Pistachios - 1 tbsp Cashews - 1 tbsp Pistachios-1 tbsp Mawa- 1 cup Powdered Jaggery- ½ cup Cardamom powder - 1/8 teaspoon

Nitin's first big project was to design and build a gaming truck for Mountain View. "It was one of a kind build. We had to install 13 gaming rigs on a TATA XENON which was a tough challenge.", he explains. "Our design team came up with many renditions and the client selected one of the ideas.

Speaking about the initial challenges that he faced while establishing the firm, Nitin said that the journey was full of many expected and a few unexpected challenges. "It is not easy to set up a new venture.

There were some known challenges, and to my surprise, there were also many hidden challenges.", he says. He further added that when one starts a new enterprise, mainly financial, infrastructure, staffing, resourcing, etc., are a few ones to name.

The main challenges started after the completion of the first outlet. "We had no idea how to attract customers to avail our services." The market was competitive, but team AutoNation's consistency and zeal to excel resulted in several 'beyond expectations' achievements.

Despite several challenges, AutoNation has attracted many faithful customers who would love to get their cars customized again and get expert services. Every challenge had been an experience for Nitin. "It has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride but I enjoyed every bit of it. Every day I get to learn something new. This journey has taught me patience and no matter how big or small one should love what they do.", he says and advises the same to others. "Just love your work, focus, and do your best, rest all will fall in line sooner or later.", he concludes.

Just after 8 months into the business, the company had to go through the toughest phase as the world was affected by Covid-19. “It was really difficult for us to establish in the market because we were just starting when pandemic knocked on the door. We had zero orders in hand when we came back to the office after the first lockdown was lifted. All the clients either canceled the orders they gave before the lockdown or put them on hold. Everyone was struggling as the market saw the worst time.”, says Kuldeep.

“We didn’t give up. We had to keep running our factory for the survival of the workers. We connected to the bigger brands in Agra and started producing shoes for them.” The period during the lockdowns gave the partners some time to come up with

The footwear is made of fine quality leather which is generally procured from Chennai and nearby places in Chennai. Some of the raw materials like soles, grinderies, and chemicals are procured locally from Agra. “The main material is usually leather which we buy from good leather producers. During the entire process, we get the opportunity to support small-scale units in terms of arranging some raw materials as well as giving them the job work for their upliftment.”, says Kuldeep.

The selective range of products includes casual shoes, formal shoes, and sneakers for the domestic and international market. The company also manufactures women's footwear for export. “Our major production is Men’s high fashions shoes.

However, we are also making casual sneakers for Men as well as shoes and boots for ladies for the International market.”, says Kuldeep. Currently, the company is supplying shoes in 8 states in India and exporting to some companies in Australia, South Africa, and Dubai.

Kuldeep and his partners are planning to expand Aragorn’s roots in the coming future.‘Our first target is to enhance our business in overseas market. he fashion industry is increasing more rapidly and becoming more interchangeable than ever. For the last five years, the fashion industry is challenging gender stereotypes. A piece of fabric, textile, or a garment has no gender; then why fashion should be gender-biased?

In the 17th century, King Louis XIV of France wore a beautiful pair of heels. In ancient times, males wore ornaments, headgears, and many things. The first systematic segregation of clothes happened during the industrial revolution of Europe. The men’s clothing became more comfortable and women’s clothing became more decorative and suffocating than ever before. In India’s long history, we have seen Kurta’s and Angarakha as the main elements of gender fluidity.

Indian weddings have seen gender-neutral clothing since a long time ago. Dhotis, salwar, accessories, odhnis, juttis, florals, and light colours have been trendy features for men’s wedding fashion. “The demand for comfortable clothes is very high in men’s and gender-neutral fashion offers that,” says the director of Kalki Fashions. To adopt gendered dressing, the easiest way is to adopt anti-fits.

Genderless fashion is all about setting the imagination free while choosing clothes. Genderless fashion is not only for the LGBTQIA+ community but all those who want to embrace it.

In 2018, the Council of Fashion Designers launched a new category of ‘Unisex/Non-binary’ fashion.

New York fashion week featured gender-neutral brands such as Vaquera and Telfar. It embraced a future of fashion of genderless fashion.
