Orphanhood around the world Statistics show that each day thousands of children are made orphans by wars, natural disasters, economic hardships and health problems. There are millions of orphan children waiting to be noticed in the world, where each year 2.5 million children are kidnapped and sold, and 300,000 children are forced into battlefield with arms longer than their height hanging from their necks. About five million children were made orphan by the American occupation of Iraq, while the number of orphan and homeless children around the globe is estimated to be around 200 million. It is the responsibility of the entire humanity and particularly Muslims to save these children who are the target of human traffickers, organ and prostitution mafias, missionary organizations, and poverty.

Orphan Solidarity Days As IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation we organize certain events in this long and arduous journey in order to make good deeds permanent and to create awareness of orphans in people’s hearts and minds. We gratify orphan, motherless, abandoned and disabled children entrusted to the humanity through dozens of events in five continents. One of the most important events organized annually by IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation is Orphan Solidarity Days, marked each year between 16-31 March.

ABOUT REGION: In Somalia, which has lacked a central government for long years due to civil war, there are serious problems with even basic services such as infrastructure, education, and health.
