Programming, Data & Evaluation
Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. In the Spring of 2022, an SEL Committee composed of MSW and SEL experts from five affiliates worked together to select two curriculums based on the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) framework for all Affiliates to consider implementing during the school year. There are five competencies that CASEL focuses on: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. The two K-12 online curriculums the SEL committee recommend are: ● WayFinder (which has a per Dreamer cost) ● Overcoming Obstacles (no cost) Additional SEL Resource: Building Wellness Program Curriculum Wayfinder has an annual cost per Dreamer.
