Building Wellness Program The Building Wellness Program is a common core-aligned youth health literacy curriculum that encourages and empowers children to seek, question, process and integrate health information in order to obtain the highest standards of health. The curriculum was designed with the generosity of the Eugene M. Lang Foundation and with input from several “I Have A Dream” Foundation Affiliates. Hundreds of children from across the country have increased their health literacy and agency using Building Wellness. The curriculum’s lessons are hands-on, interactive and user friendly. Building Wellness teaches students the skills they need to be active participants in their healthcare. The curriculum features: • • • •
Fifteen lessons for each level (grades 1 – 8) covering hygiene, relationships, communication, nutrition and more Online access with printable lessons and activities Multiple activities in each lesson—choose what you like best Scripts for facilitators—no health expertise needed
Usage of the Building Wellness curriculum is at no cost to Affiliates. The curriculum is specifically designed to be “budget friendly”. All supplies used in lesson delivery are those that would be found in a typical classroom or after school program setting.
