Introduction This paper has been prepared as a prompt to discussion and a background resource for an AEI supported International Education Research‐Policy Symposium to be held in Melbourne on 8 April 2011. The paper is not a definitive summary or analysis of research on international education. It will need to be refined and validated to provide a longer term resource to researchers, policy makers and others interested in sustained development of international education in Australia.
