WAYS TO BRING LUCK TO OUR HOMES by Salma Elfeqy

Does luck exist? Well, this is a debatable question that we can never find an answer for. However, whether it exists or not, we would all want to grab the sentiment of luck and bring it home. We would want that positive energy to be roaming all around and bring all household members luck. Well, you are lucky today because we will tell you some tricks that are said to bring homes luck. 1. Decorating your home with fresh flowers Fresh flowers help a lot with the mood, as there is some kind of natural positive energy to them. Always replace them when they are getting dryer, because you’d want another batch of fresh positive flowers. 2. Accessorize your home with elephants One universal symbol of luck is elephant, since they are thought to be wise, loyal and caring. The elephant will do the same to your home and to your family members as well. It is said that it will be as caring and loving to your family and home, which will bring your home luck. 3. Having a bowl of fruits We all see this around very often but never really understand that it has any connection with luck. It is said that this bowl of fruits helps you get rid of negative energy in the house and replace it with a positive one. 4. Include horses or horseshoes as part of your decoration You can either add a painting to your living area or have a horseshoe hung up on your front door,

14 IDENTITY

either way it will bring you luck and joy. Horses are known for their lucky charm. You can have the horseshoe look upward so that luck wouldn’t run out or downward so that it would make luck fall onto those who walk under it. 5. Good choice of mirror placement In some cultures it is believed that mirrors are to bring fortune and positive energy to a place. That is why how you place a mirror makes all the difference. Perhaps you need to have the mirror face a good view, a garden or even a nice painting so that it would always reflect positivity. 6. Chamomile Tea Yes when you drink chamomile tea, you suddenly feel its magic working. You feel a little bit better or more relaxed while all the positive energy kicks in. Having chamomile allover your place will help spread that positive energy in the air.

Feeling this positive energy in your home all the time is what will definitely bring you fortune. Keeping your home clean and tidy would help, but remember that your home is your safe zone so keep it as positive as you can.

LOOKS OR POWER

Why Not Both? HUAWEI Launches HUAWEI Nova 3, a Powerful AND Fashionable Superstar

HUAWEI Nova devices have always been gorgeous. Previously, devices in this series earned a warm welcome among female consumers with their Airy Blue colour scheme. Not willing to be outdone by those that came before it, HUAWEI nova 3 comes with a range of trendy hues, namely Airy Blue, Red, Black, Primrose Gold and Iris Purple. Consumers are spoilt for choice. HUAWEI nova 3 sticks closely to the trends, and launches the highly evocative Iris Purple—Huawei’s take on the popular violet-purple hue. As the first gradient colour offered on HUAWEI nova devices, Iris Purple deserves a proper introduction. Gradient colours are some of the hottest device colour schemes on the market. Huawei has also improved upon its 2.5D glass manufacturing technology to create the new and improved 3D glass, where the gradient colour shines through with fascinating vibrancy. Besides colours, the overall design of the HUAWEI nova 3 also saw some changes. The HUAWEI nova 3 features an all-new 6.3-inch notched FullView Display. However, the device dimensions saw little change, remaining at 5.5-inch lengthwise. For the perfect grip, Huawei incorporated ergonomic design features to tailor the shape of the device to the human hand. Huawei shaved 2.35mm off both sides of the back cover. Then, as if demonstrating the strength of the materials used, Huawei designed a mid-frame for the HUAWEI nova 3 that is only 3.55m thick. Every curvature on the chassis of HUAWEI nova 3 is expertly designed to provide the optimal grip and visual impact.

As for the technology, Huawei was among the first to introduce AI photography through its Mate 10 launch in 2017. HUAWEI nova 3 is equipped with the flagship Kirin 970 SoC, providing support for AI to augment other features as scene recognition to ensure a great user experience. The AI features also benefit the front-facing cameras, as opposed to just the rear cameras like the approach that other handset manufacturers take. This is because that Huawei is aware of the frequency that users use the front cameras, and how important it is for them to also feature scene recognition. The front cameras on HUAWEI nova 3 can identify 200 scenarios across eight categories, namely Blue Sky, Beach, Night, Stage, Flower, Indoor, and Snow. Clarity is also important to the quality of the photo. HUAWEI nova 3 features an AI quad camera with 24MP+2MP front-facing cameras. The primary sensor is responsible for capturing images, whilst the secondary depth for beautiful creamy bokeh effects on photos. The front-facing cameras’ photos can be output into a large 300ppi photo, or a 1.5x2m poster (at 72ppi). The experience they provide rivals even that of DSLR cameras. The rear camera module encompasses a 24MP+16MP monochrome and colour sensor, which greatly improves the low light performance of the cameras. This flagship configuration results in clear shots with great details, regardless of lighting condition.

didn’t know what to do in life, but luck found her in Egypt. She would have never thought about pursuing an acting career if she didn’t appear in the movie. With two Oscars and many prestigious awards, Blanchett is one of the most successful actresses today. If you feel you have no luck, career wise, don’t hold back on taking an opportunity that comes along. If you’re lucky, it may be perfect for you. We spend so much time looking for the right thing, but sometimes luck just happens to find us.

When Luck Contributed To Making Great Things Happen by Khadija Mazen

It’s true that great achievements take a lot of effort and talent, but what about luck? There have been many instances where great things happened by simple chance, not because anything was done on purpose - this isn’t meant to discredit anyone’s effort. However, luck plays an important role by creating an opportunity that seems unexpected and wouldn’t have normally existed. And when things unexpectedly fall into the right place at the right time, the outcome could be great. CATE BLANCHETT Cate Blanchett never planned on becoming an actress, it all happened with a bit of luck. After dropping out of university, Blanchett backpacked around the world and found herself in Egypt in 1990. Blanchett was in desperate need of money when she happened to be at the right time and place. She was randomly hired as an Extra on the late Ahmed Zaki’s movie Kaboria. Blanchett is an example of someone who felt lost and didn’t know what she wanted for her future. After not doing well in university, Blanchett felt she

J.K ROWLING J.K. Rowling was living on welfare when she wrote Harry Potter. Of course Rowling put a lot of effort into writing her 90,000 word-long novel, nevertheless, she was rejected from every publisher. Her luck came when a London publisher agreed to publish Harry Potter after the CEO’s daughter loved reading the first chapter. Had the CEO’s daughter not read the first chapter, Rowling would have gotten rejected, yet again. But after getting lucky, Rowling got a publishing deal and the exposure she needed to become the first author billionaire.

EMMA WATSON Emma Watson was originally signed on to play Emma Stone’s character, Mia, in La La Land, for which Stone won an Oscar for Best Actress. Although a regretful Watson had to drop out, if she chose La La Land, she wouldn’t have been cast to film Beauty and the Beast. Luckily for Watson, Beauty and the Beast became a commercial success and made over $1.2 billion dollars at the box office. This is a perfect example of feeling like you’re not able to achieve the success you want. When you feel frustration or regret over an opportunity that slips away, luck comes in and when one door closes, another one opens.

Luck plays a part in the great things these lucky ladies have done, and considering themselves “lucky” isn’t a career weakness. Think of luck as one step on the ladder to reaching your goals. Hard work and determination mixed with a bit of luck can be the recipe to success. But the luck doesn’t last unless you take that opportunity to your advantage and work hard to succeed.

BEAUTY

Your Ultimate Guide To THE NO MAKEUP LOOK by Aya Aboshady

Caked up, overdone made up faces are so outdated. Right now we roll with the natural makeup, or as beauty bloggers call it “The No makeup makeup look. It makes the face look so fresh and glowy like never before. Two things are key to that natural and simple look.

1. Moisturizing For the face: To be nicely soothed and soft, and to create a nice base for the products to sit on, a really good moisturizer is a must! Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is a super hydrating oil free moisturizer that will leave your skin feeling very soft and will help the creamy products melt together nicely on the skin!

18 IDENTITY

Lip Balm: Hydrated lips are also a necessity when it comes to the fall season, to avoid cracked lips, and leave them looking glossy and moisturized! The Glossier lip balms are long lasting, dry repairing and nourishing for the lips. You could never go wrong with them!

2. Creamy Products Primer: The prime perfection, hydrating, pore minimizing Milani Face Primer, is the one for you. It works great for sensitive and dry skin, and it also has a minty smell; that’s always a plus

Brows: For a little touch of colour and definition. The L’Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Prep & Shape Pro kit is great to go with it!

Base: The Infallible Pro Glow Foundation lasts up to 24 hours on your skin, and gives you the glowiest, most natural finish. It also conceals imperfections, and goes great with the medium coverage Maybelline Fit Me Concealer that matches and evens out all skin.

Lips: The Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipsticks feel just like you’re applying tinted lip balm on your lips. They come in very beautiful and natural shades that enhance your own lip colour!

Highlighter: The Long Wear Baked Highlighter in Moon Pearls is a sheer highlighter, infused with Vitamin E. It gives you this hydrating wet look that makes your face glow in the most natural way! Powder: The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder is great for giving you that no filter soft focus look, and can never look cakey on the skin.

Eyes: The Kylie Jenner Burgundy Palette has all the fall colours you’re looking for; the warmth of the shades will go with just any natural look!

Lashes: The Maybelline Lash Sensational is, hands down, one of the best mascaras in town. It gives you the full fan effect and you can layer it all you want, and it still gives you the wet natural lashes look!

Blush: This Glossier Cream Blush is the easiest and quickest way to apply your blusher yet! It also comes in very natural shades that make you look like you woke up flushed, and it’s very buildable too.

RImmel Concealer: With a light texture, Rimmel concealer wears off in a few hours, so if you’re going for coverage to suffice your outing, Rimmel Concealer is your choice.

HOW DO SHOES BRING LUCK TO LIFE?

Shoespie’s Black Bandage Sandals

by Aya Aboshady

Shoes are one of, if not THE most important component of a woman’s attire. Shoes, sometimes, make the whole outfit, and give it a different touch of style that would steal the show! Some pairs look like they would bring you luck, and some look like they DEFINITELY wouldn’t!

This one is a classic, and a must have in any shoe collection. Who doesn’t need a pair of black heeled sandals that would go with everything? Well, THAT is lucky!

THE ONES THAT COULD MAKE IT Quetzal’s Black Velvet Embroidered Booties: Printed booties have been a trend for a while now, but to find one that speaks to you takes a bit of time, which is why we think this Quetzal one speaks to all women, and will bring them all the luck!

Women’s Adidas Superstar Athletic Shoes The Adidas Superstar just never goes out of style. It’s wearable at all times, and no matter what season you want to slay, these shoes will help you! Also, it’s in rose gold, which is a bonus for all women!

Go Jane’s Sassy Strut Lace Up Faux Suede Booties: If there is one color that screams FALL, then it is Burgundy! How could those booties not attract luck? They look so fabulous, especially with the lace up.

Givenchy’s Embellished Leather Boots:

26 IDENTITY

That Givenchy pair is just stunning; it’s a piece that you add to the outfit to literally make it! Those silver studs and that shade of black, do not just go with everything, they make them better!

Timberland Women’s Joslin 6 inch Boots:

Nike Air Max Thea Trainers in Burnt Orange: That burnt orange though! Fall is about all the warm stylish colors, so those Nikes with that colour had to be one of our luck recommendations for the season.

A classic Timberland had to make it to the list for a little more luck! Those 6 inch black boots will go with everything. Whether it’s a casual outing or a formal night, that pair could be worn with so many items to make you stand out!

THE ONES THAT WILL DEFINITELY BREAK IT: Topshop’s Dreamcatcher Wedges The name might be CATCHY, and sound lucky, but unfortunately, it does NOT look like it! The nude wedges will absolutely push the luck away from you!

H&M’s Women’s Nude Flats Ballet shoes are so out of style by now, so is that nude shade!

Coco Bello H&M’s Isabel Marant Boots

We can’t imagine anyone rocking a lucky outfit with those, especially in that colour!

Those definitely do not look lucky in any way, or even comfy to wear!

ALDO Cirelle Floral Print Stretch Sock Booties

HOW TO DRESS THE ECCENTRIC RUNWAY TRENDS by Neamat Eltouby

When we scan the runway, foreign or local, we come across many pieces that we either feel excited to find or wear, or we just admire from afar. Admiring pieces from afar does not necessarily mean that we shouldn’t be experimenting with them. At times, these experiments turn sour, yet, there are simple but trendy ways to work on that. COLOURFUL SEQUINS Sparkles and sequins are a girl’s all-time favourite – yet the hardest to dress. Dressing in full sequins is truly a challenge, yet pairing it with a plain bright colour works and looks amazing. Dress a full sequined skirt with an unfussy shirt, and minimal accessories. The outfit works for a night out with the girls, or a day that turns into night.

PLAID OR CHECKERED Plaid has been prominent in the runway for the past few years. It’s always been an important - shall we call it – neutral print. This fall, however, Versace and Givenchy are mixing it up a little, and making it their centre fall colour. Dressing a plaid piece with a plain piece keeps the print prominent, and the outfit understated and stylish. Checkered prints are in this season. The plain piece rule applies, yet, with checkers, one whole checkered piece will do just fine. Find a checkered print jumpsuit or dress, pair it with neutral colour boots, and possibly a belt, and flaunt a classy, sleek look, perfect for anything.

COLOURS Fall and winter are known to revolve around dark, bleak colours that match the weather and the mood of the season. This season, though, bright and pastel colours are dominating the runway. Thought yellow was just here for the summer? Turns out, 2018 is the lemon year. Pastel blues and pinks are also playing a huge role, as you could match them with anything, as Bottega Veneta and Palmer Harding are teaching us. Dress in a one coloured pantsuit with neutral coloured pumps, or black block boots, keeping you cosy, classy, and gorgeous.

ANIMAL PRINT Animal print is back from the 90’s, as Victoria Beckham would like to display. Spaghetti strap animal print dresses, and animal print skirts are out, but overcoats are most definitely back in. White leopard prints or beige leopard prints, paired with a plain outfit and statement shoes are definitely the way to go.

ALL BLACK, ALL LEATHER During the winter, all black is our all-time favourite. Whether it’s a just a black t-shirt, black jeans, and black shoes, or a full jumpsuit, all black has proven to be the cosiest, most lazy but stylish looking outfit for winter. Pair leather jackets with leather boots, opt for your favourite pair or leather black pants, and add as many metallic accessories you like. However, stay true to the shade of black.

Who is good and who is evil? Who determines what’s right and what’s wrong? What’s a truth and what’s a lie? It is all subjective, and will always remain the main conflict of life which is exactly what Torab El Mas is all about. . In a story packed to the brim with mysterious events, complex characters, vicious choices, you will find yourself questioning your definition of morality and immorality. Torab El Mas is a dramatic, passionate and dark tale of power that has taken the film industry by storm.Based on the novel by the talented Ahmed Mourad; Torab El Mas is brought to the big screen by the skilled director Marwan Hamed, and played by an exquisite cast. Who better to delve into the world of Torab El Mas with, than its two equally talented and astounding lead actors, Asser Yassin and Menna Shalaby? It’s is not the first time for this duo to collaborate in a movie together; where they starred in the romcom Bibo & Beshir, and the chemistry between the two stars on screen couldn’t be missed. Their chemistry made it their interaction throughout the film look effortless. During our interview with the stars, we learned that their work experience was as effortless as it translates on the big screen. “She is a very professional actress, and I truly enjoy working with Menna,” said Asser. “I would love to work with her again, and I think she is one of the best out there – if not the best to be honest.” The feeling was mutual from Menna as well, where she expressed her admiration of Asser. “What I love about Asser is how he changes from one role to another. He is very diversified in his choices of roles; that’s one of the things we have in common that made us click together and which made Torab El Mas an even more enjoyable experience.” For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of watching the movie or reading the novel, the story follows Taha, played by Asser Yassin, who is a simple guy, leading a simple –close to boring – life. This boring life of his took a wild turn when his father’s diaries, along with a wicked weapon known as “diamond dust” fell into Taha’s hands. Through Taha’s battle against corruption, you will wonder whether evil

is an unavoidable route to good, and how much violence is necessary in this fight. “It’s a very multilayered character, and it has a lot of depth,” Asser indicated. “My approach to the character, if we are talking animalism; is someone who thinks he is a rat, but in reality he is a falcon. Once his life was threatened, he turned into a killer. When he realized he was living in a jungle world, all the weakness he thought he had, turned out to be anger, and despite his peaceful nature, he had to set the beast inside him free.” Taha is a foil to the traditional hero archetype, but that doesn’t go against the fact that character is extremely captivating and interesting, so it would only make sense that such character falls for another interesting and distinctive character such as Sarah. Sarah, played by Menna Shalaby, is Taha’s neighbor who is a journalist, blogger and protester; a character that makes an impact with viewers as soon as she appears. “Sarah doesn’t fall into the typical Egyptian girl’s category” explained Menna. “She doesn’t let society dictate her life; she has a mind of her own. I found her a very challenging and complex character; which intrigued me even more to play her.” Despite the worldwide belief that novels are always better than their adapted movies, the reviews of the movie are quite positive and favorable so far. “Novels and movies are completely different mediums – like sculpting and painting, you can appreciate both, even if they have the same theme, or title.” Asser added. “Yes, sometime the novel can have more success than its adapted movie, sometime it’s the other way around. Sometimes both can be great, as well. I hope our case is the latter, especially since Ahmed Mourad wrote both the novel and the script, keeping both the novel and the movie with the same vision.” The vision was, however, completed with the input of director Marwan Hamed. “In order for a dark political crime novel, such as Torab El Mas, to get translated into the big screen, you will need the skillful eyes of an expert such as Marawan Hamed.” Menna added; which was the validation we wanted to hear all about the two stars’ experiences working under the brilliant, Hamed. “Working with Marwan is such a joy.” Menna, who had worked with Hamed before in El Asleyin, told us. “Witnessing his unequalled love and dedication toward his work and his movies is a marvelous experience. role of Taha; asking if it was really worth the pain and effort?

“He is a real professional film maker.” Asser added. “What he creates is solely for the film, no deviation, it’s not to appeal for audience, but for the film. With him, I know we are doing it right.” The first time Asser worked with Hamed was in the beginnings of Asser’s journey, in Omaret Yacoubian, so we were eager to know what this director developed in Asser as an actor.

“Definitely its very exhausting!” he admitted. “When you’re planning for a role, you’re living as well; you have a family, friends, and a social life to take care of. The price of focusing on a role must affect some other aspects of your life. It’s a trip only those close to you get to witness, yet the audiences get to see the end result. Thankfully, the majority of my movies aren’t seasonal films, but ones that will stand the test of time. They have a good foundation, and they are there for life. Having my blood, sweat, and tears documented in a movie, for me, is appreciated and makes it definitely worth it.”

“Attitude reflects leadership, and he is the leader of the film. Yes, I have the leading role, but the director is the one who is orchestrating everything. When he orchestrates everything perfectly, I have to be perfect as well” said Asser. “ I had to loose weight or to learn drums for two years in order to portray Taha’s character perfectly, because I was keen to truly be this character. I was keen because I know the director was. We all compliment each other’s effort. He is the heart of the film, so to me working with Marawan is a great experience and of course I would love to repeat it.” By just watching the trailer, you can tell Asser went through some major physical transformation. As the audience, we always see the transformation go from point A to B, without really thinking of what the actors go through, and what happens in between. Lucky for us, we got to ask Asser, who lost an enormous amount of weight and muscles for the

We couldn’t let the two stars go without getting a bit darker with them, and ask them what would they do if they possessed Torab El Mas. While Menna confessed that she would burn it right away, stating that she hates no one, and that such a weapon would only bring troubles, Asser had an even darker, question to ask us. “What would you do if you live with someone, and you both know that there is this bottle there, and each one of you had used it on other people, but not on each others? That’s the scary question.” Chatting with the two stars was definitely exciting and awe-inspiring, we wish them both the best on luck for their next projects, and we wish for more great movies to come.

Meet Accomplished Egyptian Entrepreneurs in London by Amina Elghandour

Nothing challenges oneself more than change. Living and working independently abroad can be a scary experience, hence those who manage to navigate their way through unfamiliar waters and manage to find their haven, are worthy of admiration. Learn the stories of accomplished Egyptian entrepreneurs abroad.

AHMED MANSOUR: CAPE 66° Setting up a business can be an exciting venture that comes with many challenges. Cape 66° was created just for that – to build a community that can help independent business owners support each other. For the past decade Ahmed Mansour has been an explorer in his own realm. He travelled between London, Cairo and Dubai, studied marketing, did research in entrepreneurship and worked for different advertising agencies until he set up his own advertising company in London in 2010. But something still felt incomplete. His journey working and studying in different countries was an eye opener to the challenges of building a business especially in an unfamiliar place – where you have no social capital to fall back on for guidance and advice. However, he realized that where social capital lacked, it can be built; and in a world of advanced technology it can even be built across boundaries. Hence in 2015 Ahmed created Cape 66°, a platform for independent business owners from different parts of the world to support each other in the face of challenges.

42 IDENTITY

What’s special about Cape 66°? Our community is built on the principle of paying it forward. We all know that a budding business is full of challenges and setbacks are just a natural part of the process, hence having support along the way makes a tremendous difference. We enjoy helping fellow entrepreneurs on their journeys and value building relationships on goodwill. Cape 66° has no ads and no clutter, the only way a member can promote their business is simply by helping a fellow member. We interview our members and monitor their activity to ensure that they are there to give as much as find support for themselves. While business for decades has been measured by material value and competition, we believe you can give to grow. Today the Cape 66° community is growing more than ever, providing a bigger support network with its members spreading across 27 countries. It aims to spread values as it continues to grow in numbers. There is much potential for many out there and Cape 66 wants to help harness it. Visit their website and learn more.

PRIVACY Vs. SECRECY... There Is a Difference by Marwa Rakha

A mutual respect for each other’s privacy is essential in maintaining a happy healthy relationship. But being involved romantically with a partner also means sharing and revealing personal and private information about ourselves. So we reached out to Identity’s Relationships Expert Marwa Rakha, to help us understand more about the issue. How can we differentiate between privacy and keeping secrets in a relationship? Where does privacy end and secrecy begin? Privacy and trust grow, or decline, with the growth or decline of the relationship itself. It is common knowledge that trust is earned not given. In the beginning of a relationship, it is natural to assume that your partner is a good decent person, but that does not mean trusting that person automatically. JUST MET • Do not talk about your ex/exes. • Do not talk about your horrible relationship with your parents/siblings/ boss/colleagues. • Do not share your income.

44 IDENTITY

• Do not talk about being dumped or cheated on. • Do not talk about dumping or cheating on others. • Do not talk about the assets you have – or do not have. • Do not say “I love you”. • Do not offer to give, or ask for, email and social media passwords. • Do not lie about your relationship status. • Do not play with words. Do not say, for example, that you are separated, if you still live in the same house and are not in the actual process of getting a divorce. • Do not lie about what you do for a living. • Do not pretend to be someone else. • Be positive, take it slow, get to know the person, have no expectations, and go with the flow – for the first couple of months.

AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS If you feel secure, comfortable, and confident:

• B oth of you are sharing, and discussing, your expectations of one another, and of the relationship.

• Share information about your past relationships, but always be respectful. • Talk about your childhood, but do not overwhelm your partner with negative traumatizing information. • Do not share your income. • Talk openly about how your previous relationships ended and the lessons you have learned. • If the conversation allowed, talk about your assets. You are not bragging; you are simply sharing conversation-relevant information. • Do not say “I love you”. • Do not offer to give, or ask for, email and social media passwords. • Do not pretend to be someone else. • Be positive and sincere and continue to get to know the person. • If you are beginning to have expectations, curb yourself. Slow down. You are still getting to know one another.

Whether you are married or not, it is inappropriate to: • Give, or ask for, email and social media passwords. • Hack your partner’s accounts. • Check your partner’s calls. • Follow/stalk your partner. •Track your partner’s income (in a healthy relationship, you should both be open about your incomes)

SIX MONTHS INTO THE RELATIONSHIP If the relationship is going steady, no sudden disappearances, nothing suspicious, and no red flags: • Open up about your fears and insecurities, and their reasons, if you know them. • Share intimate information about yourself, childhood. • Do not share private information about your family. • It is okay to share your income. • Say “I love you”, if you feel it. • Do not offer to give, or ask for, email and social media passwords. • Do not pretend to be someone else. • Make sure that your partner is as open and sharing just as much as you are. • If you are beginning to have expectations, talk about them. • Make sure your partner is on the same page; you are officially dating, you are both exclusive, you are both comfortable, both your families and friends know, and you are making plans slowly but surely. AFTER ONE YEAR If the relationship is still going steady and no red flags, whether you are engaged to be married, or not: • You can both speak your minds without selfcensorship. • You can both argue and still be civil and decent. • You can both disagree and manage to find compromises. • You are not judging one another. • You can confidently share private information about your family. • You give and receive affection - and feel satisfied. • Do not offer to give, or ask for, email and social media passwords. • Do not pretend to be someone else.

Is it okay to invade that privacy in case one of the partners is suspecting that the other one is cheating, but don’t have physical proof? If you suspect that your partner is cheating, pay closer attention to his/her attitude until you find proof, but do not invade another person’s privacy to find out. If you have to check his/her phone, ask first, and talk about your doubts and the reasons for having such doubts. If your partner agrees, check the phone in front of him/her, and then talk further until the issue is resolved either way. How to overcome a situation where one partner craves openness while the other feels suffocated and needs boundaries? Can too much sharing damage a good relationship? The level of privacy in a relationship is determined by the level of intimacy and trust. If you are too open in the beginning, then this openness would damage a sprouting relationship. If you are “withholding” information in a relationship that should be mature, then this relationship is not as solid as it seems. If you start keeping secrets because you feel that your partner would be upset, would use that information against you, or would leave you, then you are simply being dishonest in a relationship that is wrong for you. If you feel that your partner is not as open, or is not sharing, as you are, talk about it. People are different in setting and protecting their boundaries. Usually, by time and positive experience, even the most protective ones, would feel comfortable opening up and sharing. Remember, always, that you cannot force a person to let you into their lives. You cannot force anyone to open up and share. It is always up to you to decide how you feel about a person’s level of openness. If you feel that you are doing all the talking and sharing, stop. Just like anything in a relationship, the sense of privacy is something to explore together until you both find a comfortable middle ground.

DOES

“LUCKY IN LOVE

REALLY EXIST by Rana Ramez

T

he vast majority of us have their own share of broken hearts, disappointing dates and toxic relationships, which is a natural outcome of our continuous pursuit of love. But there are a few whom we can safely call “Lucky in Love”. They are those fortunate couples that you see and can’t help but think to yourself: “Oh, they are so lucky! I wish I have what they have.” Is it true that some people are just luckier than others when it comes to love, or are there other factors that control the whole affair?

Truth is that there is abundance of luck and good fortune for everyone to live their own fairytales and to find the love of their lives. Joining the ‘Lucky in Love” Club, and winning one of the greatest prizes that life has to offer, is what we’re going to unveil to you next. 46 IDENTITY

?

1. BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS Having a rigid idea of what we want in a partner; the way they look, their personality traits, their behaviour, etc. represents a huge obstacle in the way of being fortunate in love. The main reason behind it is that most of us don’t even know for sure what will really make us happy. Perfect fits don’t mean that you and your partner share the same interests and goals, but rather accept their differences and don’t use them against each other. Stop searching for your duplicated version in the other gender, because guess what? In case you find them, which is nearly impossible, your life will be boring as hell. Your partner being different from you is not a deal breaker, that’s why you need to let go of your preconceptions to not miss out on someone who may turn out to be perfect for you.

2. PARADOX OF OPTIONS “MORE IS LESS” What sabotages many relationships is that people keep thinking about other possibilities; what if there is a better fit for me out there? What if I can be happier with someone else? Psychology speaking, having more options makes us miserable. Though we think that the more options we have, the happier we become, the truth is that it imprisons us in a state of permanent dissatisfaction. If you’re in a relationship but are still looking for the best, you’re never going to put in the time and effort necessary to make what you have the best. Choose to invest in your relationship’s growth and it may turn out to be what you’ve always dreamed about. Acknowledge that all choices are trade-offs and stop thinking about the “what ifs”; they will blow your chances of a happily ever after. 3. DIG OUT THE FEELINGS OF LUCKINESS Positive and active efforts of partners to recognize and express the fact of being lucky to have each other will actually upgrade their relationship and make it more satisfying. This can be described in two words: appreciation and gratitude. It is the magical foundation of every happy satisfying relationship. By showing your partner appreciation, you push them subconsciously to have positive relationship behaviours, and by expressing gratitude, you’re increasing their connection and sense of responsibility. Bring out your gratitude by noticing the supportive positive behaviours of your partner and the efforts they do to make you happy. As a result, you’ll start to value them and treasure what you have with them. Make sure to show them your appreciation in return and do something nice, which will encourage them to do similar desirable behaviours in the future. 4. LOVE IS HARD WORK One thing we always tend to ignore or overlook about relationships is that they require such hard work to be successful. “Luck in Love” is not made the day you meet your significant other, it’s rather created day by day for the whole lifetime of a relationship. Do you actually think that lucky people rely on fate to keep them connected to their soul mates? Are you really convinced that it’s a matter of

people born lucky and others doomed to failure? If yes, then you will perceive every bump on your road as an indication that this relationship wasn’t meant to be. As long as you’re maintaining this mindset, you’ll never get to experience the love luck. Being lucky in love depends on how much you and your partner are willing to compromise for each other and how much you two are ready to work on your issues and conflicts. It means knowing and accepting that it won’t always be rainbows and butterflies. Real love and deep connections never happen overnight; it is two people who found each other and chose not to give up on each other, thus turning what they have into something desired by everyone. 5. CONTROL THE LEVEL OF YOUR EXPECTATIONS “Expectation is the root of all heartache” – William Shakespeare. It’s a human thing to expect good things from the ones we love; it’s a reflection of how greatly we think of them. The problem appears when the expectations are unrealistic, idealistic and way too high. Some forget that their partners are also humans, and start to think of them as superheroes who will provide for every emotional need, be the answer to every problem and save them from misery. Having this kind of expectations can and will lead to pain, bitterness and disappointment. This is not translated into settling for less though; it only means that having realistic expectations and clear visions about your partner’s human flows and imperfections will pay off big time in how lucky you can get in love. So instead of perceiving the partner as a saviour, you have to accept their imperfections and start working as a team who sets goals together and work hand in hand to achieve them.

Finally, as cliché as it sounds, you need to love yourself first, because how you see yourself is directly reflected on how others will see you. Forget about the nonsense of how lovers complete each other. In fact, you are a whole on your own. Love and respect yourself and before you know it you’ll find someone who will do it the same way you desire it. Each and every one can be lucky in love and now you know it. So go out there and start creating your own luck. IDENTITY 47

THE SCIENCE OF SUCCESS by Neamat Eltouby

Blaming luck and fate could substantially suck up an immense amount of effort, more so of what is used to physically understand, accept and change that luck we dread so much. In many cases, after encountering a minor inconvenience, many of us begin to form a negative idea about our luck and fates. Many believe that the core of their problems and drawbacks are results of bad luck and misfortune, however, some fail to overturn their beliefs in order to overturn their circumstances. But, what if we could not only change the luck we blame, but build it all together? Alter Your Perception When we encounter inconveniences, we immediately divert to the theory that we are unlucky, fate isn’t in our favour, and the universe hates us. It takes time

48 IDENTITY

and effort to believe otherwise, and to do so, we must shift our belief system. We must believe that everything happens for a reason, and that things will work out for the best – even if it does not seem so now. It takes time and effort to accept failure, yet

more time and effort to alter the way you feel about that failure. Accepting that this inconvenience has probably happened for you to get a better one, a better circumstance, or just to get you through a rite of passage to prepare you for something bigger and better will surely help you build your own luck platform. Set Your Goal and Visualize Success No matter how many times you are brought down, always envision your success. Imagining yourself standing tall, achieving everything you’ve been wanting to achieve, your stepping stones will begin to form. Not only do you unintentionally build yourself a steady goal, but you are also motivated to reach that goal faster, and more efficiently. Your stepping stones are your path, the path that you set for yourself that pushed you harder and faster towards your goal. Accept the Setbacks Considering the fact that we are human, it is very common to fail or encounter a discouragement. Feeling down is something we’re used to, however, accepting the failure is truly the challenge. Contradictory to what we’re used to doing, moaning and complaining over the issue we’re encountering, accepting it and working on it is the best option. Understanding the setback, accepting it, and exerting effort to change it could honestly be a setback itself, yet, as we mentioned before, it’s easier, and healthier to believe that everything happens for a reason. Focus on the Moment Centering your life on the moment and what is going on in the present is a must if you want to change your perception and make your own luck. Abandon the past; nothing is going to change it. Dwelling on what you’ve been through before will not change that it happened, it will only depress you. Although focusing on the future and your goal is also a majorly helpful task, but looking too far into the future creates worry and unwanted nervousness rather than anticipation. With focusing on what you’re doing now and what you’re doing to achieve your future goal, you will build your stones, see your success, and pass on the setbacks that will lead you to keep working harder. Be the Rising Tide Heard the saying “A rising tide floats all boats”? To be a rising tide is to spread good fortune, meaning, do good things, and good things will happen to you.

It is known as karma in cultures, or as “what goes around comes around” in others. Be the rising tide, do good things; spread good fortune among people and you will receive the equivalent. Putting aside the fact that doing good things is spiritually beneficial, and obviously benefits others, but believe that when you become virtuous, pleasant and plainly smile at those around you, your world will smile back. Do what you Love Although easier said than done, doing what you love attracts good fortune. In many cases, we must agree that you are not always given the chance to do exactly what you love, yet, as mentioned before, accepting your circumstances will facilitate the process. When you accept what you thought you wouldn’t accept, you will get used to the circumstance, and eventually enjoy it. On the other hand, doing what you love could have a different context. Enjoy yourself, avoid letting your issues or what bothers you get in the way of doing what you love, take a risk, and take advantage of your time, your effort, and all means that contribute to having a good day, and eventually a good life. Eat the foods that make you happy, go to the places that you enjoy, spend more time with people that make you laugh. Purge the Negativity Again, it’s 100% easier said than it is done. Cutting people out of your life isn’t easy, but once you figure out that their presence causes more pain than it does happiness, cut them off. Channel your negative thoughts and feelings into something healthy. Whether it’s exercise, work, or even just a little shopping; find something better to do than mope. Stay away from anyone that gives you negative vibes, or anywhere that makes you uncomfortable. One fairly easy way to do so is to meditate. Meditating, clearing your mind, and spending time in absolute serenity, drives your thoughts away from negativity. It calms down your nerves, reduces stress, and blanks your mind from all of what keeps it running.

Blaming fate and luck is common, yet thinking about changing it, or even making it is not. Making your luck and building your life is a lot easier than dreading and sulking over the misfortune you face. In a few simple steps; understanding, accepting, and fixing, we can guarantee a healthier mentality, and brighter look on life, AND personal luck.

LUCKIEST

LANDMARKS ON EARTH by Rana Ramez

Is this your travel day? Then it’s no doubt your lucky day. Any day of travelling is considered a pretty lucky one, for all the adventures you’re about to take, the new places you’re about to visit and the fresh experiences you’re about to live. For maximizing your benefits and packing an extra dose of prosperity from your upcoming trip, know that some locations may be luckier than others. Identity has compiled a list of the world’s most fortuitous places on earth. Legend has it that these landmarks might just turn your luck around and guarantee you a lifetime of good fortune.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S TOMB IN ILLINOIS, USA In Springfield, many statues can be found at 16th American president’s tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitors who search for good luck give an extra attention to the large bronze bust in front of the tombsiting on a granite pedestal that is based on a sculpture by Gutzon Borglum of Mount Rushmore fame. By rubbing Lincoln’s nose for luck, thousands of hands keep the statue’s nose shiny. IL PORCELLINO IN FLORENCE, ITALY Il Porcellino (piglet) statue situated on the south of the Mercato Nuovo is one of the main attractions known for their good luck charms. Putting a coin in the mouth of the boar’s bronze statue and rubbing his snout is known to ensure a return to Florence alongside with good luck.

50 IDENTITY

HOOVER DAM IN CALIFORNIA, USA The iconic Hoover Dam on the Nevada side holds a good luck status famous under the name of the Winged Figures of the Republic. It consists of two huge 30 feet high seated winged statues overlooking the canyon. Requesters of good luck touch the toes of the statues – the only part within the reach of visitors – in hopes of catching the good fortune. SCHÖNER BRUNNEN FOUNTAIN IN NUREMBURG, GERMANY Situated in Nuremburg’s central market square in the historic center of the city, the 14th century Schöner Brunnen Fountain with the shape of an elegant gothic sire is another destination of luck seekers. The reputation of the fountain came from the existence of two rings embedded in the grate around the fountain and it’s believed they bring good luck to those who spin them.

THE WEEPING COLUMN IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY For health boost searchers, Istanbul is your destination. Located inside Hagia Sophia – used to be a Greek Orthodox basilica, an imperial mosque and now is a museum – people seek good health by visiting the weeping column. Also known as Column of St. George, it’s said that the column weeps holy water capable of granting miracles and curing afflictions, by inserting your thumbs in a hole in the column. EVERARD T’SERCLAES STATUE IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM Leading the efforts and succeeding to reclaim Brussels after the Flemish attack in 1356, Everard t’Serclaes – a Brussels resident – has a monument with his likeness on the street near the Grand Place. For good luck, fertility and wishes to come back to Brussels, tourists touch and rub the statue with Serclaes’ body, an angel’s face, a dog’s face, and a shield. THE GRAVE OF VICTOR NOIR IN PARIS, FRANCE Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris is the final resting place of many famous people such as Oscar Wilds, Jim Morrison and Edith Piaf. But for visitors, and especially women, Victor Noir’s grave – a French journalist – is the main attraction. It’s said that kissing the statue of Noir that is marking his grave and placing a flower in his upturned hat boosts fertility, and in other versions ensures finding a husband in a year. FUSHIMI INARI TAISHA IN JAPAN This one is especially for the business-oriented people searching for some business luck. The 8th century Kyoto shrine was initially dedicated to the god of rice and sake, but has been known as the go-to location for entrepreneurs. For a remarkable success in business, it’s said that you have to make your way to the sub-shrines at the top of the summit.

THE TREVI FOUNTAIN IN ROME, ITALY The tradition of wishing on a coin and throwing it with your right hand backward over your left shoulder into the fountain is relatively new. Though the fountain actually dates back to the 1700s, this tradition of good fortune is traced back to the 1954 Academy Award winning movie “Three Coins in the Fountain”. Every night, the workers sweep the fountain to keep the thrown coins from building up. STATUE OF ST. JOHN OF NEPOMUK IN PRAGUE St. John of Nepomukis the saint of Bohemia, who was drowned in the Vltava River. His statue is one of 30 to line the Charles Bridge of Prague and it is said that the statue stands in the exact same spot where he has been thrown into the river and killed in 1383. It’s a common belief that touching the statue ensures good luck and a safe return to Prague. BLARNEY CASTLE IN IRELAND If you have an argument to win, go kiss the Blarney Stone. Blarney Castle is the home to the splendid rock set “Blarney Stone” found in the castle’s battlements. Kissing the Blarney Stone should guarantee the kisser good fortune and eloquence in whatever issues related to persuasion. Some said that it’s lined to the Stone of Scone used for centuries in the coronations of English and Scottish monarchs. LINGYIN TEMPLE IN HANGZHOU, CHINA It’s a believed that rubbing the belly of a laughing Buddha brings wealth, prosperity and good fortune. The source of this tradition comes from one of China’s largest monasteries, the Lingyin Temple located in the southeast of the country. From the “Peak That Flew Hither” set of rock carvings outside of the temple entrance, the Buddha figure is recognized as the origin of this superstition.

At last, now you can plan a trip to a lucky destination that will make you as fortunate as ever. Nothing is promised though; to be granted every wish you have is hard, but at the very least, you’ll get the chance not only to visit mesmerizing places but also to try out quirky rituals traced back to thousands of years. FOODS FOR GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HEALTH by Khadija Mazen

Good food is not just tasty, but it can also be a way to get yourself a little bit luckier. According to many old cultures from around the globe, there are a number of foods that are known to turn your life around, of course to the better. It is definitely worth trying because apart from them being lucky charms, most of them are healthy too. We’ve gathered a list of the 10 most popular lucky foods to help you attract more luck to you.

NOODLES (CHINA, JAPAN) In many Asian countries, noodles are believed to bring luck to its eater. If you slurp the whole noodle without breaking it, you’ll live a long life. Supposedly, the length of the noodle symbolizes the longevity of life. Unfortunately, most noodles today are processed carbs or stirfried in Chinese style. Eating noodles doesn’t seem like the healthiest way to lengthen your life. However, the Japanese tradition says Soba noodles specifically bring you luck in life. Soba noodles are high in protein and vitamin. They also contain fewer calories than regular pasta and are just as filling.

52 IDENTITY

LENTILS (ITALY) In Italy, lentils are considered a healthy food because they are shaped like coins. The more lentils on your plate, the more money you make! Lentils are high in fiber, which is good for your digestion. They are also high in protein if you’re vegetarian or vegan. They help lower your cholesterol level and aid in weight loss. Luckily, lentils are a popular item in Egyptian food. Koshary, lentil salad and lentil soup are some options for a healthy meal. KALE & CABBAGE (EUROPE, SOUTH AMERICA) Kale and cabbage are super-healthy vegetables that happen to be the colour green, the colour of money. Green is traditionally a symbol of wealth and good health. Of course, eating greens is very healthy, as kale and cabbage are full of antioxidants and Vitamins K and C. You can either mix them in a salad, or add them to smoothies, soups and a number of warm dishes. They’re a filling option when avoiding heavy carbs and fatty dishes. FISH (EASTERN EUROPE, SCANDINAVIA AND CHINA) No wonder fish is considered to be a symbol of luck. This luck charm contains omega-3, which improves your hair, nails and skin. It is high in vitamin D, which many Egyptians are deficient in. Other benefits are for your heart, sleep quality and risk of diabetes. Herrings’ golden skin is thought to bring you wealth. Salmon signifies progress because of how they swim forward. And the more fish you catch, the luckier you get. TAMALES (MEXICO, SOUTH AMERICA) A traditional Latin American dish dating 3000 years BC, Tamales are known for bringing luck and fortune. Tamales are made of cornbread, and can be filled with meat or beans. The cornbread brings luck if fried to a golden colour, symbolizing wealth and gold. But Tamales are fried, full of fat and cholesterol.

GRAPES (SPAIN, MEXICO) In Spain, eating exactly 12 grapes before midnight on New Year’s Eve promises you good luck for the next year. The tradition continues to this day as everyone in Spain, and Spanish speaking countries like Mexico, follows this tradition before the stroke of midnight. Grapes are full of antioxidants and are great for your skin. If you are looking for a healthy snack then this should be on top of your list. POMEGRANATE (TURKEY/GREECE) In these countries, the red colour of pomegranates represents the heart and blood of the human body. It’s a Greek tradition to smash pomegranates on the floor; the more seeds fall out, the more wealth! It’s said that eating pomegranates gives you prosperity, symbolizing the continuation of life and fertility. That’s why on engagement and wedding parties, the couple is served pomegranates to wish them luck in their marriage and family life. We don’t know about increasing fertility chances, but pomegranates are known to lower risk of cancers, improve bone health and anemia. Pomegranates are great to have as juice, snack or in salads. KING CAKE (GREECE, FRANCE, EASTERN EUROPE) Originally served by Christians on St. Basil’s day, the luck of the king’s cake has spread to many cultures in Europe like Mardi Gras. Before the king cake is baked, a coin is randomly placed in the mixture. Once done, family members are each served a slice. Whoever finds the coin in their slice will be lucky for the next year. Families take this tradition so seriously that fights break out when the coin is split in the middle of two slices. The recipe of sugar, flour, milk and butter isn’t exactly healthy but it’s quick and simple. Kids get excited to find the coin and a party is a perfect occasion for this cake. We say one slice won’t hurt. RING-SHAPED CAKE (US, EUROPE) You’ll notice a trend by now of circular foods. That’s because round shapes represent life’s fullness and coming together. Ring shaped cakes are eaten all around the world on special occasions to bring luck and stability to your life. Doughnuts and pancakes are especially popular in the US for luck. It seems like a good excuse to eat doughnuts and cakes, so you’re welcome. But we, of course, urge you to choose healthier options over these.

May you find luck in every corner while enjoying these amazing foods. IDENTITY 53

REVIEW

THE SHORTEST WAY HOME: Taking That Leap of Faith by Amina Moustapha

When American poet Robert Frost published his ambiguous poem “The Road Not Taken”, one line in the poem made almost every reader pause; “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.” The poem, particularly this line, makes you think about your choices in life; whether to go mainstream or go alone. If life is a journey, this poem highlights those times in life when a decision has to be made. Which way will you go?

2. A leap of faith requires courage and fear

In her debut novel, Miriam Parker decided to pause at this question, and find the perfect answer for it, which was also in her opinion, the shortest way home.

3. Finding your true self is a step toward finding true love

‘The Shortest Way Home’ is a novel sizzling with hilarity, heart, and courage. Miriam Parker follows one woman’s journey from Iowa to New York City to California, and in this wandering she unveils what being true to oneself really means. So let’s take you on a journey on what we loved and learned from this fascinating novel, and why it is a must read? 1. It teaches you that things shouldn’t always go as planned After suffering from a rollercoaster of a childhood, Hannah is on the verge of leading the perfect life, the one she dreamed and worked toward for years. A stable life. With a high-paying job, an apartment in Manhattan, and a boyfriend about to propose, stability was a few inches away from her. When she takes a romantic weekend trip to Sonoma with her boyfriend, Hannah is spontaneously offered a marketing job at the first (and apparently financially unstable) winery they visit! For a girl who was always on the search for security, who follows the road of rationality, and was a few steps away from achieving that, there was no way she would take the job, but surprisingly, Hannah did. She impulsively did the unthinkable--she turned down her job in New York and decided to stay in California.

54 IDENTITY

As we witness Hannah’s decision, we learn what a leap of faith actually means. People who take risks without fear are brave, but far braver are those who take risks despite their fear. In the face of her fear and insecurities, we watch Hannah following her gut, hushing down the doubting voices inside her head, and moving toward a life she never chased, but oddly felt that she belong to it. She didn’t ignore or try to erase her fears, she acknowledged them, gave them a seat at the table, and kept on going.

Hannah’s quest to find herself, and what is important to her, was an eye-opening journey for her. Even though the life she was seeking was supposedly her dream life, when she realized that she wasn’t loving or caring for herself, due to her persistence to reach this life, she figured that even her feelings for her boyfriend, were questionable. Only when she found her true self, when she fell for herself, she paved the way to her falling in love but not the obvious one, the love of people from her past as well as people who will be part of her future and beautiful Sonoma, California. 4. The past can’t be changed; it can only be accepted The mission to rescue the failing winery becomes a mission to rescue Hannah from the image of herself she thought she wanted, and also a chance for her to banish the ghosts from her past that haunted her. The young girl who ached to escape Iowa and leave her past behind for a glamorous life is now given the chance to come to terms with the upbringing that made her who she is. She made peace with all the scars that marked her past, so that she can have a peaceful future, not one packed with constant battles. 5. It’s hard to not follow the crowd Even though we saw how fast Hannah made up her mind about staying in California, we watched

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

how self-doubt and what-ifs started to form cracks in her solid wall. We watch how hard it gets to not look back, to not wonder and to not question her decision. It’s hard when you don’t go with the mainstream. When you defy what everyone, including yourself, expects from you things get scary. So as Hannah did, she slowly started to stop dwelling on the what-ifs and began dealing with her new life, her new self.

When we approach a choice as a fork in a path, it becomes clear that we must choose one direction or another, but not both. Just like Hannah. New York or California. So when you pick a direction, there is no guarantee or indicators, at least not instantly, that this was the right or wrong decision. The right or wrong road. Nonetheless, that is the way you are going now; and the place you end up, for better or worse, was the result of your decision.

6. The road not taken shall not haunt us

The novel advocates embracing your freedom, learning from your mistakes and moving forward, because that is how you find the shortest way to your home.

The central message, Miriam Parker infused in the story is that, in life, we are often presented with choices, which requires making a decision.

SIGNS

Virgo

August 23 –

September 22

Strengths Organized, logical, Modest, Responsible, Devoted, Altruistic Weaknesses Critical, Timid, Perfectionist Most Compatible With Taurus and Capricorn Love Virgo is the perfectionist of the zodiac; meaning it’s hard for anyone to measure up to their standards. Perceived as picky, people born under this sign are in a continuous pursuit of the perfect love. However, being protective of their hearts, once they find the “One”, they’ll give everything.

LOVE COMPATIBILITY ARIES Though it’s a tough match, it’s never boring. The relationship’s success depends on their ability to relax, have fun together and find middle ground. TAURUS This is an excellent match! While Taurus teaches Virgo about love and tenderness with their clear heart, Virgo gives Taurus intellectual views with their clear mind. GEMINI Communication is what this couple masters. Though rational thinking is their common trait, the downside lies in their tendency to live in their own minds. CANCER They share a wonderful connection which may lead to having an inspiring relationship. They complement each other in a balanced way. LEO As logical signs, they have a strong mental connection. Both of them seek a perfect romantic relationship with a perfect partner. VIRGO Two Virgos know how to have a stable relationship while enjoying the pursuits of mind. They need to let go a bit of their rationality and embrace their emotions.

68 IDENTITY

LIBRA A satisfying intellectual bond is what characterizes this match. Problems are found in their emotional understanding. But if they are willing to make it work, compromising is easily achieved. SCORPIO This relationship can be extremely deep and exciting, in case they can value each other and develop a sense of gratitude. However, sentimental Scorpio might feel distant sometimes from the logical Virgo. SAGITTARIUS A lot of work is needed in this match to reach emotional understanding. Still, they could share a happy relation in case they reveal their emotions and discover that they complement each other. CAPRICORN They perfectly follow each other’s pace since they belong to the element of Earth. Balance is easily found here based on their calm and logical nature and their mutual respect and love. AQUARIUS Though this relationship is all about honesty and merging minds, they represent the polar opposites. Aquarius is spontaneous, unpredictable and a risktaker while Virgo is practical and analytical. PISCES A visualization of “opposites attract”; what pushes them together is their differences. Virgo will bring dreamy Pisces to earth and Pisces will teach logical Virgo how to connect to emotions.
