Icro Maremmani was born in Pietrasanta (province of Lucca, Tuscany) on 18th May 1951. He worked as a psychiatrist, and lectures in Addiction Medicine at the University of Pisa, Italy. Since 2021 is retired.

He is president of a number of scientific societies and has published books and academic papers in Italian and in international journals in the field of psychiatry and in that of addiction medicine. He is married and has two children. Throughout his life he has lived in Pietrasanta, in the Maremmani family home. His passion for photography began when he was 18.

The journey continues, and the eyes are never tired of observing. I had always considered visiting the legendary Livigno, a paradise for novice skiers or those eager for adventure. I found white expanses of thoughts mixed with snow and shrunken by the cold, but I got lost in them. The rented attic told me about the happy poverty of the rich on vacation. The Apennines then hosted us at the lovers’ festival, now a bit out of time. Long walks on our beach made us rediscover unusual thoughts, chased over parts of Italy now forgotten despite the history. But Cadiz was a joyful blast from the past, far from the crowded summers and ready to be savoured during the beloved work. The sunflowers submerged us to find ourselves again in Seville, enchanted in the water to the sound of its flamenco. Summer pushed us into the forgotten Sardinia in search of friends from the past, perhaps found again, and then again, the bizarre Marrakech came to meet us, fresh from the earthquake but not tamed. Finally, in search of the last car, to find the past and anticipate a tired nativity scene, to end up along the beach of our lives, you and me again.... Still.
