hy fly half way round the world to Australia, when Ibiza has its very own Sidney? The NSW metropolis may be larger but the Cafe Sidney at Marina Botafoch is just as lively and international in its outlook. The ‘downunder’ equivalent is also (slightly) older than Cafe Sidney which celebrates 15 years of trading this July. That alone is an occasion worth celebrating, but it also coincides with proprietor Jörg Schlieckriede’s 55th birthday. He intends to mark this double anniversary with a special party for friends, regulars and business partners on 12th July, commencing at 8pm. By way of a ‘thank you’ to all his loyal customers, a fantastic buffet will be laid on with drinks on the house. Guests will be able to work off some of the calorific intake at the party that follows, dancing the night away to the sound of live music from the Flower Power era performed by a hippy-style band. Here at IBIZA STYLE, we would like offer our own congratulations on this auspicious occasion by presenting our first IBIZA STYLE compilation at this multicultural happening. When you look at photos from 15 years ago showing this corner of the port as a depressing, empty building site and compare it with the palm-shrouded Cafe Sidney of today, you have to concede that Jörg displayed considerable business acumen at the time. Because the location is absolutely unique: practically every skipper has to walk past the Cafe Sidney to board his yacht. He is more than likely to spot a friend or acquaintance sitting outside and will then stop by for a drink himself. And wherever rich yacht owners congregate, you will also find attractive young women. Guests at the es-

ara qué viajar a las antípodas, si en Ibiza ya tenemos un Sidney? Bueno, la ciudad portuaria australiana es sin duda «algo» más grande, pero el Café Sidney de la ibicenca Marina Botafoch no tiene nada que envidiarle en cuanto a vitalidad y sabor internacional. Cierto, faltaríamos a la verdad si no dijéramos que la ciudad australiana también le lleva un par de añitos de ventaja al Café Sidney, que este mes de julio celebra sus 15 años de existencia. Esto sería por sí solo motivo suficiente de celebración, pero además Jörg Schlieckriede, el dueño, celebra también sus 55 años de juventud, lo que supone un motivo por partida doble para no faltar a la cita el 12 de julio a las 20.00 y festejarlo junto con amigos, clientes habituales y personas afines al local. En agradecimiento a la fidelidad de los clientes, se ofrece un magnífico buffet y barra libre de cerveza. Las calorías de más recién adquiridas podrán quemarse a continuación bailando al ritmo de la música en directo de un grupo hippie y en la posterior fiesta estilo flower power. IBIZA STYLE desea felicitar de todo corazón a los dos «cumpleañeros» con la presentación de su primera Recopilación IBIZA STYLE en el marco de este evento multicultural. Cuando se miran fotos de hace 15 años y se ve el aspecto que tenía de aquella este rincón del puerto, no se puede sino reconocerle a Jörg su excelente intuición, ya que en la actual ubicación del Café Sidney bajo las palmeras había por aquel entonces un edificio vacío más que desolador. Lo cierto es que su situación es única, ya que todo navegante que se dirija a su embarcación debe pasar sí o sí por delante del Café Sidney. Allí siempre aparecen un par de amigos o conocidos, por lo que no es de extrañar que hagan una parada técnica en el local para tomarse –como mínimo– una copa. Y, «suma sumando», por donde hay

Zwar ist die australische Hafenstadt Sidney etwas größer, aber im Cafe Sidney auf Ibiza in der Marina Botafoch ist es sicherlich nicht weniger lebhaft und genauso international. Auch ist die australische Stadt ein paar Jährchen älter als das Cafe Sidney, das diesen Juli sein 15-jähriges Bestehen feiert. Das wäre ja eigentlich schon Grund genug um zu feiern, aber da Inhaber Jörg Schlieckriede gerade junge 55 Jahre wird, ist das für ihn ein doppelter Grund um am 12.Juli ab 20 Uhr gemeinsam mit Freunden, Stammgästen und Geschäftsfreunden hierauf anzustoßen. Als Dankeschön an die treuen Kunden gibt es ein tolles Buffet und Freibier. Zu Life-Musik einer Hippie-Band kann man sich auf der anschließenden Party im Flower Power Stil tanzend der gerade zugelegten überflüssigen Kalorien entledigen. IBIZA STYLE gratuliert ganz herzlich zu diesem Doppelgeburtstag mit der Präsentation seiner ersten IBIZA STYLE Compilation auf diesem multikulturellen Happening. Wenn man sich die Fotos anschaut, wie die Ecke des Hafens vor 15 Jahren aussah – dort wo sich jetzt unter Palmen das Cafe Sidney befindet stand ein trostloser leerer Bau - muss man Jörg zugestehen, dass er damals einen guten Riecher hatte. Denn die Lage ist so einmalig, dass praktisch jeder Skipper auf dem Weg zu seiner Yacht am Cafe Sidney vorbei muss. Da sitzen fast immer ein paar Freunde und Bekannte und so bleibt es nicht aus, dass sie auf – mindestens – einen Drink hier Stopp machen. Und wo sich die reichen Bootsbesitzer aufhalten,
