Located in Newport, Melbourne, the Museum of Childhood Memories celebrates the working-class identity and industrial heritage of the city’s western suburbs. Spread across a series of themed buildings, interactive exhibits invite parents and grandparents to reflect on and share their childhood stories, while children engage with the area's history through play - creating new memories and intergenerational connections.

A new heart of Newport
The proposal revitalises Newport’s Activity Centre around The Substation. Strengthened pedestrian links across the Eastern and Western side of the suburb supports the Museum of Childhood Memories as a new cultural anchor - merging play and learning to engage the community.
Its massing respects the residential suburb’s fine-grain scale, reimagining industrial forms through a child’s lens to create a playful, narrative-driven experience.
