The pleasure of business in historical contexts

iSud “The willingness and the power to express the Southern lands and people’s potentials” I-Sud is not only a virtual multifunctional platform; it is a collecting device through which the subjects who operate in it (among them, many young people and global exponents of the cultural and entrepreneurial environment) can contribute to give new power to Southern cultural, social and business activities. We cannot omit the basic scope of iSud, that aims to be an underlying structure for enterprises, movements, cultures and people in the Mediterranean area. Our mission consists in generating wealth in rich high-potential lands, recovering a sustainabilitybased economic model that gives value to handmade craftsmanship, agricultural and food production, tourism and technological innovation within the sectors of energy, agro-energy, organic farming and high technology; we offer turnkey business packets so as to attract investments in Southern Italy’s area and to catalyse business and trade internationalization. For these reasons, and in the specific instance on the occasion of the EXPO that will take place in Milan, we want to seize this opportunity to create a “Mediterranean Hub” that can follow in the event’s wake, so as not to define it geographically only in Northern areas. Our proposal is a complete and interactive tour for foreign visitors who want to open themselves to powerful, non-overstocked markets, such as the southern excellence and uniqueness.

In order to keep the old tastes alive, the “Gisoldo” cheese factory only uses its expert touch, a tasty mix of milk, rennet and salt, and the priceless experience of the Master cheese-maker, who is the founder and the protagonist of a unique reality on this territory, together with his son Fabio.

Towns to visit Rocchetta Sant’Antonio

It is a small country village near Foggia, in the north of Apulia. The town is located in a strategic point where Apulia, Campania and Basilicata (three wonderful Southern Italian regions) meet together. The first citadel, dating back more or less to 1000 A.D., probably has Norman origins. The first castle dates back to 1050, but there is only a tower now. But the real symbol of Rocchetta Sant’Antonio is the sixteenth-century castle wanted by Ladislao II d’Aquino, and inaugurated in 1507. Another work of art is the Mother Church built in 1754 where many works of art are collected.

Melfi

A middle-Age city, it is located on the volcanic territory, on the northern slopes of the mount Vulture. Melfi has been inhabited since Neolithic and it was influenced by Roman presence, as it is confirmed by the existence of some ruins of a Roman villa with mosaics. Guglielmo d’Altavilla ordered to built a castle there, which probably is the most famous of the region. Later, the Castle was enlarged by the Swabians and then by the Angevins; Frederick II promulgated the Costitutiones Augustales there, in 1231. That was the first organic body of written laws of the Middle Age, whose contents were both penal and civil.

Ascoli Satriano

A town of saints and civilization. Ascoli Satriano is considered the Apulian Pompei because of its many archaeological traces, as the Collina Serpente or the Faragola’s Villa, and also the excavations of Giarnera and Boschetto. The middle-age area is impressive too, with its castle and the Cathedral dedicated to its Saint Martyr, the first italian one, Potito da Ausculum. Both the Daunia Archaelogical Park and the Museum of Santa Maria degli Angeli are really interesting, in particular the sections dedicated to archaeology and the diocesan museum. You can find also the polychromatic marbles that make the Trapezophoros’ frame.

The gems This old unfinished church is one of the most interesting and complex monuments of Southern Italy; it was built during the early Christian era on a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Imene, protectress of wedding, and it has been enlarged from the last quarter of the eleventh century with the new church, that remained unfinished. A porticoed entrance, with two lions side by side, opens on the facade, the forth in chronological order.

“L’incompiuta” (the unfinished church) Venosa

Candela

The town is located on two hills called San Rocco and San Tommaso, that are part of the southern subapenine orographic system of Daunia. A trading citadel from time immemorial, Candela has a wonderful historical centre, a Mother Church and many little chapels that frame sumptuous buildings and picturesque alleys. The local gastronomy is represented by high-level restaurants and internationally acclaimed chefs.

Venosa

Venosa (Basilicata) is one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. It is the city of Horace, the Carpe Diem poet, and of the madrigalist Carlo Gesualdo. There are the impressive archaeological site of the Incompiuta, and the Frederick II’s Castle. Horace’s town keeps a mix of history, costume and traditions, paying great attention to the preservation of its patrimony. Venosa is made unforgettable also by its various cathedrals and churches, which we recommend to visit.

Bovino

Bovino is famous for its 800 stone portals. The village is located in the hill and mountain country of the Daunian subapenine area. The territory is covered by century-old woods, with an underwood full of herbs and wild fruits. The historical centre contains impressive monuments, like the Cathedral or the Ducal Castle. Bovino is also an important place of worship for its Sanctuary of the Madonna of Valle Verde, inside the woods on the borders of the town.

Matera

Provincial capital of Basilicata, Matera has more or less 60.000 inhabitants. It is located on a ravine, in a dry territory eroded by the Matera and Picciano’s ravine, in the east of the Bradano, on the plateau of Matera’s Murge. It is the oldest town of the world, and one of the most fascinating because of its architectonical composition, commonly known as the City of the Sassi. Matera has recently been declared the 2019 European Capital of Culture.

Bagagli Smarriti, or Lost Baggage, is a way to enjoy your arrival and stay and wonderful scenary offered by the iSud packages without any of the frequent risks and preoccupations linked to luggage loss. For such reason, we advice the subscription of the following luggage insurance formula for your China-to-Milan flight. A simple intuition Bagagli Smarriti, or Lost Baggage, came about by chance during one particularly disastrous journey. One spring, a lawyer accompanies his wife’s handball team to an important away game. As they arrive at their destination, the unfortunate ladies wait and wait, but their bags don’t come round the conveyor belt in the baggage collection hall. Suitcases, gym bags, rucksacks, all of them had disappeared. They report the loss to the airline’s help desk, but the assistance they receive is far from satisfactory. On returning home, the lawyer decides to get to work to seek just compensation for the team, who had been forced to spend huge amounts of money to rebuy all the equipment they needed for the game and essentials for their stay. Yet merely establishing a contact with the airline turned out to be the first hurdle in the case. Phone numbers charging extortionate rates that rang and rang with no answer, uninformed employees trying to dissuade them from taking action, faxes to send, forms to fill in… the airline didn’t exactly make it easy for them. So, with a group of other lawyers, he took the time to look up the regulations and laws in place in Italy and Europe pertaining to air transportation and studied the rights of passengers. This is how Bagagli Smarriti was born, and above all how it developed the ability to understand the users and guide them towards a quick and simple resolution for their claim. We were the first to realise that somebody needed to expose this organisational lapse and stand up for the rights of travellers. Who are we? Bagagli Smarriti S.r.l. was founded to help handle and settle litigations that can arise between the traveller and the transport company, mainly airlines, when: baggage goes missing, is damaged, is delivered late; when there are long delays, when boarding is refused, or when chartered flights are cancelled. At certain times of the year in particular, due to the exponential increase in the number of travellers, the already stretched airport management companies and airlines are simply unable to cope and guarantee adequate standards of quality. The services offered passengers are regularly lacking, and in these cases, it is almost impossible to avoid unpleasant inconveniences. Although the EU has set specific regulations within the European Community that sanction the fundamental rights of travellers, often the exercising of these rights is hindered by bungling bureaucracy on the part of the sector operators. The dedicated department of our legal studio consists of a team of professionals specialised in the air transportation sector. The many satisfied clients we have dealt with so far are testament to our effectiveness.
