EDITOR’S LETTER September & October 2020 We have all been waiting for things to start to return to some sort of normality, and lots of businesses are ready to get back to work. It has been an exceptionally tough year for many businesses, and they are going to need our support now more than ever. Students are set to return to school and college, and for many students and parents it will be a worrying time. Is it safe? Will the children be able to catch up on the work that they have missed out on? What if there is an outbreak and the school has to lockdown? It is not going to be an easy time - but I am sure that there are lots of kids, and parents who can’t wait to get back in the classroom, and that includes mine!
I really can’t believe it is September already, where has the year gone? Mind you, I for one will not be sorry to see the back of 2020! What a year it has been so far, with floods back at the beginning of the year and lockdown since March - it has been a very tough time for so many. Now we are seeing glimmers of hope, with the easing of restrictions. People are able to venture out to the shops, eat out to help out and you are even able to pop to the pub for a pint again! Lot’s of our local facilities, and services are open again after months of being closed. Gyms and libraries are reopening, as well as swimming pools and play parks - which is greats news.
As we move in to autumn, I think we are all going to be watching carefully to see how things go. There is talk of second waves and the added worry of seasonal flu on top, which could see more people falling ill and even ending up in hospital. I think it is really important that we remain cautious, take care to follow the guidelines and stay safe and alert. Wear a mask when you can, socially distance as much as possible and keep the infection rates down - the last thing we want is for Telford to end up in local lockdown! Take care, and be kind to each other...
