With all the ‘goings on’ in parliament, Boris Johnson’s resignation and the leadership race for who is going to replace him, and the heatwave during July and August - there were lots of sweaty collars around, that’s for sure...

There was an opportunity for most of us to take a break, relax and unwind. I spent most of this so-called break catching up on jobs in the house that hadn’t been done - but they say a change is as good as a rest - though I have to say I am not convinced!

Anyway, I hope you had a chance to enjoy some down time, spend some time with your loved ones and make the most of the warm weather.

But with crisis in our NHS, strikes for workers to be paid a decent wagewithout having to claim Universal Credit top-ups and the cost-of-living crisis, and spiralling inflation has however hit many people very hard. There are not many people that are not being affected by the cost of fuel, energy and food. In fact, only the very well-off seem to be managing to cope, while most are having to cut back, and some even struggling to eat properly, or pay their bills.

Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings is internationally important as its Main Mill is the world’s first iron-framed building (built 17961797) and is the forerunner to the modern-day skyscraper. The site will open from 10 September 2022 for the public to visit and learn more about its incredible role in the Industrial Revolution and the great contribution Shrewsbury and the Midlands have made to the world as manufacturers and innovators.

With digital and hands-on activities for all ages, visitors can walk the floors where spinning machines whirred, flax flew and barley was processed for beer to brew. The Mill explores the lives and stories of workers, engineers, soldiers and entrepreneurs who played their part in one of the greatest heritage transformations of all time.

The complex, consisting of eight listed buildings, has been closed for the past 35 years. Following redevelopment under Historic England’s ownership four of the listed buildings – the Smithy, Stables, Main Mill and Kiln - are now fully restored, and the Main Mill and Kiln are opening for the first time as a visitor destination and workspace –where people can come to celebrate and explore the site’s

The site was also used as a temporary army barracks during the Second World War.

Now fully restored, the Main Mill and Kiln are opening for the first time as a visitor destination, with a new exhibition, shop and independent café – it’s not so run of the mill.

Located on the ground floor of the huge sawtoothroofed Main Mill building, The Mill exhibition brings to life the story of this iconic landmark of the industrial revolution.

Wellington Town Council hosted a series of family fun days in the Bowring Park over the 6-week summer holidays. Ranging from PJ the showman, Wrekin Forest School, Climate Hub nature festival, and dance performances from local group Tori Arts. Over 700 parents and children enjoyed the free family fun including the Mayor of Wellington Cllr Dorothy LikewiseRoberts!theMarket Square was full of entertainment over the summer. Saturdays in Wellington saw performances from the Wellington Brass band, The Telfordaires, The Shropshire Boatmen, Three in a Bar Jazz band, and the Telford Steel Band. New for this year was a skateboarding skills demonstration from the Chill Out Skate Shop on Market street.

New Street will be packed with scooters of all types and vintage, with riders coming from as far as Cheshire and Staffordshire. All three businesses are hoping their ventures will take off at Wellington Market which is open every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm and the Food Court is now open late until 7pm.

Fabulous Feet has received £2,500 to support its launch and means qualified foot specialist Michelle Perks will return to the empty market stall after the previous foot specialist was forced to close a market stall due to ill Michellehealth. will use the funding to support a specialist chair and podiatry equipment and will meet the demand for a foot specialist in the town by offering a series of foot Creativetreatments.Kate Crafts is based in Wellington Market Annexe and has received a £1,000 grant to help with start-up costs.

Owner Matt Taverner has been awarded £2,120 to help cover the initial rent of the stall and also to fund stock, signage, fixtures and fittings and business cards and leaflets.

New ‘Visit Telford’ digital platform aims to boost tourism

With the launch of the new portal and the roll out of local and national marketing campaigns and promotions, the Visit Telford team are aiming for big growth in the sector, targeting new and existing markets to welcome new visitors to experience Telford 365 days of the year.

Nick Ralls, Chief Executive of The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, said: "It's fantastic to see Telford & Wrekin Council supporting the tourism sector by launching the Visit Telford promotional campaign and helping to boost the regional visitor economy. There are so many fantastic reasons to visit Telford & Wrekin and we are extremely proud that our 10 museum sites, situated in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a major draw for both local people and tourists travelling from further afield.

The website www.visittelford.co.uk marks the start of an exciting UK wide ‘Visit Telford’ campaign to support the growth of the visitor and culture sector in Telford and beyond. It has been developed by the council’s Tourism team and provides the ultimate one stop portal for UK and international visitors as well as a hive of information about what to do, where to stay, where to eat and what’s on. 8 Core the centre of the cupcakes and ﬁll with the Picota cherry compote ﬁlling. Pipe on the buttercream and top each cupcake with some extra compote and the juice, a whole Picota cherry, some chocolate and toasted almonds/coconut.

INGREDIENTS

1 Preheat the oven to 160Fan/180*C and line a muﬃn/cupcake tray with 10 cases.

1 tbsp lemon juice

6 Meanwhile, make the ﬁlling: add the Picota Cherries to a saucepan with the rest of the ingredients and bring to a bubble. Allow to bubble away over a high heat for 8 minutes, until sticky and there’s a thick syrup. Pour into a bowl and cool fully (you can place them in the fridge, too).

80ml sunflower or olive oil

7 When ready, prepare the buttercream: add the softened butter to a bowl or freestanding mixer and beat till smooth. Gradually beat in the vanilla essence, almond essence, icing sugar and plant-based milk till fully incorporated then beat for a further 1-2 minutes till ﬂuﬀy. Place in a piping bag with a star-shaped nozzle.

4 Scoop the batter into the cases, ﬁlling 2/3 full. Bake in the centre of the oven for 18-20 minutes, until risen and springy and an inserted skewer comes out clean.

3 Now sift in the flour, cocoa powder, coffee, and bicarbonate of soda. Whisk to a smooth batter with no specks of flour.

120g vegan butter, softened

2. To a large mixing bowl, add the milk, lemon juice, sugar, sunﬂower oil, vanilla essence, and almond essence. Whisk till smooth.

1 cup medjool dates

4 tbsp agave/maple syrup

2. Blend all cashew filling ingredients together for at least 8 minutes, until super smooth and silky. Pour into a bowl and rinse out the blender.

Jackets played a big part in the '90s, and we see a return of not only the classic moto, or biker, jacket but the bomber jacket too. There's going to be one item that is going to go viral this season, and that is the humble white vest. As we go into the winter months, this surprisingly simple, and quite summery item will be on the majority of fashion people's wish lists.

A legacy of the pandemic is comfortable footwear. We have got used to slippers, trainers and sliders and the thought of putting on a pair of heels fills most of us with dread. The Big Debate: Round or Rectangular?

He continues, "A round shape will tend to be wider than a rectangular table, our Island Breeze round table starts at 120cm across, whereas a standard rectangular table is around 90cm. This gives you loads of extra space for serving dishes and platters, and the seating plan is really flexible as well, with the legs tucked nicely in from the edge. In a smaller or narrower space, where the extra width of a round or oval table may be a problem, stick to a rectangular table, it's the most space efficient way of seating a given number of guests".

Once you have settled on the shape, the next consideration is likely to be what size to get. This is influenced by the size of the space available, not such a problem in an open plan layout but it still needs to look right proportionately for the room. "I always advise customers to avoid buying a dining table that may be too large for their space, not only will it look terrible but you will be forever bumping into it and getting frustrated. We have a wide range of tables in sizes from 122cm to 183cm long, and if there isn't a standard size which is exactly right we can even build a dining table to your exact measurements", says Adam.

A new scientific paper published in the Foods[1] Journal has evaluated the nutritional composition and health benefits of ‘red’ fruits, focusing in on red berries – including strawberries and raspberries.

This means you can ride the range with your eyes on the horizon and not on the battery charge level. You get nearly 50 mpg from the punchy combination. A hefty total system output of 222 bhp ensures that the RAV4 copes with all demands from towing trailers to attacking off-road trails to high speed runs up to about 112mph. The Intelligent-all-wheeldrive system adapts to all conditions without fuss in unison with the seamless automatic transmission.
