THE HURON ADVANTAGE Huron is a unique institution in the post-secondary landscape. We are older than Canada itself. Throughout our 150-year history, we’ve prepared leaders in education, the church, law, business, medicine — every aspect of civil society. They have gone on to make significant contributions to Canada and the world beyond. We are intentionally small because we believe this is the environment that best encourages active learning and achievement. Our class sizes are small, our students are on a first-name basis with each other and their teachers.

At Huron, we support one another to be our best.

OUR VISION Our world today is complex, buffeted by geo-political upheavals, economic uncertainties, environmental turmoil and ethical ambiguities. People are motivated to do good but feel disconnected and unsure. There is a hunger for leaders with intellectual vision, disciplined thinking and principled judgment who are capable of making the necessary creative leaps to deliver on a common purpose. Many of Canada’s post-secondary institutions — charged with educating the next generation of leaders —

OUR STRENGTHS Lib e ra l A rts There are those today who say the study of liberal arts is impractical. Huron knows that liberal arts are essential. It hones the capacity to synthesize disparate ideas, perspectives and experiences to reach new levels of understanding. Liberal arts programs at Huron provide students with a mastery of ingenuity, adaptability and resiliency — all essential to thrive in today’s constantly shifting world.

All are whip smart, motivated and creative, but not all have the same backgrounds and opportunities. To realize our vision to be an elite yet accessible school, Huron is raising the bar to attract more high-academic achievers. And we are opening doors to others with the potential to soar — non-traditional learners, First Nations students, those with special needs and economic challenges. Recruitment, academic awards and bursaries will focus on attracting and retaining a diversity of students, both academically inclined and community minded.
