Pillar Falls Elementary School was among two new elementary schools built within Twin Falls School District in 2016. Within the 650-student two-story elementary school, grades are configured in pods to focus on the current teaching/educational needs as well as safety and security requirements. Outside of the classroom pods is a new gymnasium which opens (via retractable wall) into the cafeteria space allowing flexible spaces for larger or smaller group activities. The learning stair provides for student gatherings, commons, and informal student performances while still serving as a means of egress from the second to first floor. Exterior design reflects the need for low maintenance, durable, and cost effectiveness, and sustainable materials. The interior was designed with thoughtful placement of fun and inspirational graphics which also serve as the school’s wayfinding.

The staircase gathering area functions like auditorium seating.
