The new Emsi office building located in Moscow, Idaho will serve as the company’s world headquarters. Approximately 500 employees will utilize the building at maximum occupancy, providing software development, engineering, data science, economists, and sales. “Twin Falls just got bigger, this is great, construction is beautiful, you have got old and new all put together.” - Miles Daisher, Twin Falls resident

Hummel performed an existing building analysis and determined that the only value in the former furniture store building was its structure. The building was then stripped of its finishes, systems, and hazardous materials. Efficient use of day lighting, energyefficient mechanical systems, as well as LED lighting were all implemented into the facility’s design. Twin Falls City Hall has been awarded LEED Certification. The architectural characteristics of the existing downtown structures influenced the materials selected for the new City Hall.

The design objective was to revitalize the existing 1949 and 1970 concrete block warehouses into a modernday retail store while retaining some of the time-worn warehouse feel. Improvements also include sustainable design elements as well as extensive site improvements.

ICEHAUS BREWERY Location: Bend, Oregon Square Footage: 4,500 SF Schematic Design

Hummel worked with a private client to provide Schematic Design services for a new brewery in Bend, Oregon. Our team worked closely with the client to develop a design that housed new automated brewery technology that brews to perfection based on the data input from the users. With this newer brew concept, the design expresses the new technology in brewing beers.

The design also takes into consideration the use of outdoor space for the winter and summer months in Bend. Utilizing large roll-up garage type doors, the interior and exterior are seamlessly connected. A splash park adjacent to the patio space would enable parents and children to be connected during the summer months.

SILO PUB + CELLAR Location: Moscow, Idaho Square Footage: 3,000 SF Concept Design As part of an overall master plan concept for the Moscow Grain Elevators, Hummel conceptualized a pub and cellar space in the base of a 100-year-old 115’ tall grain elevator located in Moscow Idaho. The concept focused on elevating the historical aspects of the space by preserving and repurposing elements throughout the space while modernizing it through the addition of large storefront glazing and overhead doors at the Pub which allows for natural light and a seamless connection to the exterior patio. Accent lighting is used to highlight the existing board form concrete columns that support the grain above and wood finishes are used to accentuate and contrast the concrete by bringing warmth into the monolithic interior.
