Hummel is assisting Boise State in exploring potential renovations and additions to Albertsons Stadium. The upgrades will bring improvements to the fan experience on the lower East portion of the stadium.

Hinged screens puncture the otherwise CMU wall to create depth, movement, color and visual interest front the outside, while still creating a connection between the fans in the stadium and the tailgaters. A widened concourse, along with new and improved concession and restroom facilities, new student-athlete academic facilities, and a new premium seating area. The project allows for two types of seating: 300 club seats in the lower bowl, and 36 loge boxes added above with an indoor club space with food and beverage options.

EMSI HEADQUARTERS + MASTER PLAN CLIENT : EMSI/STRATA EDUCATION NETWORK LOCATION : MOSCOW, IDAHO SQUARE FOOTAGE: 67,000 SF PROGRAM: COMMERCIAL OFFICE The new Emsi office building located in Moscow, Idaho will serve as the company’s world headquarters. 500 employees will utilize the building, providing software development, engineering, data science, economists, and sales.

The project was delivered using an accelerated schedule that included a multi package delivery of construction documents.

This process helped shave months off design and construction and allowed work to begin before the final interior design was complete.

Our team worked closely with a CMGC throughout early design and continuously made value engineering decisions to help align the building with Emsi’s budget.With eyes set on the future, Emsi asked the Hummel team to provide a campus plan to fit their growing employment needs. A master plan was developed that includes the addition of two similar sized buildings, public plaza, and a parking garage.

The new Treasure Valley Classical Academy draws elements from the existing elementary school as well as classical principles in architecture i.e. order, hierarchy, rythm and symmetry. The design strives to help elevate and activate Fruitlands downtown.

The design ultimately seeks to create a vibrant middle school that the people can care about, appreciate and cherish as a community.

ST.LUKE’S 27TH STREET DEVELOPMENT CLIENT: ST. LUKE’S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM LOCATION: BOISE, IDAHO SQUARE FOOTAGE: 223,000 SF PROGRAM: HEALTHCARE

The proposed St. Luke’s 27th Street Development Project will be composed of two wings, housing the Hospital and Medical Office Building. It will be accompanied by a separate five-story parking garage structure.

Campus site improvements will include: ongrade parking, patient drop-off and patient pick-up drives, drop-off entry canopies, an outdoor rehab therapy yard, multiple bicycle rack parking elements, screened receiving lot and entrance, and a screened utility and trash yard. The primary patient vehicle entrance to the site will be from 27th Street and service entry to the site will come from 25th Street.

CARNEGIE LIBRARY R E N OVAT I O N CLIENT: SWANBY INVESTMENTS LOCATION: BOISE, IDAHO SQUARE FOOTAGE: 12,300 SF PROGRAM: OFFICE & EVENT SPACE The Carnegie Library is a treasured landmark in downtown Boise. The original building was built in 1904 and an addition was added in 1914, for a total square footage of 10,983 SF. This project is a renovation of the historic library as well as the building’s associated site.

The library was placed on the National Historic Register in 1974. A specific goal of the project is restoration of the original reading rooms and stage area with its associated murals.

The original building use as a Library with large reading rooms, lecture rooms melds very well and serves as a guide for the building’s intended new use. The values of conveying knowledge, a vibrant arts culture and a community gathering place carry into the new building program of Event Space, Training and Lecture Rooms, and Art Gallery.

UNIVERSITY BUILDING SQUARE FOOTAGE: 40,000 SF PROGRAM: HIGHER EDUCATION

Hummel Architects was selected to perform a feasibility study looking at a new building addition located on the east of the existing Liberal Arts Building. The study examined ways to provide updated spaces to the existing building, remove the lower building to the east and create a new building with a central plaza.

Through an iterative charrette process, our team developed the final concept for the 40,000 SF four story addition set apart from the existing Liberal Arts building with a tiered central plaza between the two. The central plaza is a place for social gathering between the two buildings while allowing more daylight into the spaces above. A series of enclosed and open-air bridges span between the existing building and addition reaching across the courtyard.

SPORTS ARENA PROGRAM: SPORTS & RECREATION

Hummel Architects was hired to provide a concept and feasibility study to update a university arena performance floor as well as lobby, front entrance, additional restrooms and concessions. The arena is currently used for collegiate basketball games and gymnastics programs, concerts, university and community commencements and other events.

LOCATION: BOISE, IDAHO PROGRAM: RESIDENTIAL + MIXED USE

The London is a 19-story mixed use tower on a compact .55-acre site in the heart of downtown Boise. Live work units, an entry lobby with building services, and automated parking lifts occupy the ground level. V-shaped structural members that are expressed on the interior and exterior of the building as they support the lantern like parking cube above.

The massing steps back at the 7th floor amenity deck and the 44-unit condo tower is clad in composite skin and curtain wall in an alternating pattern to create texture and variation in each facade.

A ribbon of composite panel and curtainwall wrap around the parking cube on the Front and Broad street facades capped with heavily landscaped cascading steps that lead down from the amenity deck to the roof of the live work units.

Idaho Fine Arts Academy will relocate its school to a new campus adjacent to Renaissance High School within the West Ada School District, doubling its student capacity. IFAA offers middle school and high school students basic core classes with a focus on dance, instrumental music, vocal music, theater, and visual arts.

Hummel has developed a Conceptual Master Plan exploring the possible adaptive reuse of a series of grain elevators in Moscow, Idaho.

Conceptual programs include a pub and cellar area, indoor/outdoor rock climbing wall, exterior events space, residential units and a large interior events space.
