Creo que todas estas cosas reflejan aspectos de mi personalidad. I’ve had fantasies of being a film editor, a yoga instructor, a chef, or a doctor. I think all those things reflect aspects of my personality. Como revista con sede en Madrid, nos emociona mucho que eres fan de Pedro Almodóvar. (¡Nosotros también lo somos!) ¿Qué es de sus películas que te gusta? // As a Madrid-based magazine, we were excited to read that you’re a Pedro Almodóvar fan. (We are, too!) What is it about his films that you like? A parte de la magnifica fotografía, Almodóvar no tiene miedo a arriesgarse. No rellena todos los huecos para los espectadores, en cambio nos deja usar nuestra propia experiencia e inteligencia para completar la escena. Las historias tienen una riqueza de humor, pasión, emoción y drama real, y mientras mantiene una naturalidad, una calidad de la vida normal. Tiene una sensibilidad única. Besides the beautiful cinematography, Almodovar is unafraid to take risks. He doesn’t fill in all the blanks for his viewers, instead, he allows us to use our own experience and intelligence to “complete” the scene. The stories are rich with humor, passion, excitement, and real drama, while maintaining a naturalness, an average-life kind of quality. He has a unique sensibility. ¿Has estado una vez en España? Antonio López García, Sorolla, Goya y Velázquez han sido todos gran influencias e inspiraciones para mí. I have not been to Spain! It’s on my short list once I have some time to travel. Voy a participar en una exposición en Los Ángeles en la Galería Corpo que se llama “Dark Waters”, (“Aguas Oscuras”) que empieza en noviembre. Hay planes también para una exposición de tres mujeres en la Galería Eden Rock en St. Bart esta primavera con Natalie Frank y Kim McCarty. Tengo muchas ganas a empezar a pintar una nueva serie de obras este otoño y invierno. I will be in a group show in LA at Corpo Gallery called “Dark Waters” that will open in November. There are also plans for a three-woman show at Eden Rock Gallery in St. Bart’s this spring with Natalie Frank and Kim McCarty. I am really looking forward to painting a new series of work this fall and winter.
