Based on original heritage designs, Metcraft Lighting can complement and enhance even the most sensitive of architectural environments. At the same time, thanks to our use of the very latest technology Metcraft Lighting can ensure optimum energy efficiency whilst still keeping roads and streets well lit and safe; a particularly important point in view of the Governmentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s carbon targets calling for a 12.5% reduction by 2012 and 80% by 2050. For over twenty five years we have worked with local authorities, architects, consultants and contractors throughout the UK and Ireland on a vast range of projects; these include major schemes of both national and historical importance for clients such as the City of Westminster along with numerous other town-centre projects and specialist contracts. With our in-house production facilities and expertise across all disciplines, including engineering, manufacturing, lighting, design and project management, we provide our clients with a total service from a single source. OPTICAL CONTROLS Metcraft have developed optical reflectors to cater for your lighting requirements. We are able to supply, amongst other optical reflectors the Metcraft MPR and MPO along with the long standing Philips SGS 203 pot optic, which is still a favourite for the High Pressure Sodium lamp.

The Metcraft MPO has been developed around the Cosmopolis lamp and due to its size we are able to house two of these units within some of our popular lanterns.

The Metcraft MPR has been developed to work with the Cosmopolis as well as the Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium lamps. With five standard set-ups and the ability to tilt, this reflector caters for area and road lighting projects.

LED AND LENS TECHNOLOGY

INGRESS PROTECTION RATING Throughout the range, we are able to provide lanterns with an IP rating which vastly increases the lifespan of the product as well as reducing the amount of maintenance required. IP ratings are achieved in a number of ways ranging from sealing the whole lantern to just sealing the optical unit. All IP66 rated lanterns hold a 10 year structural guarantee.

Metcraft have developed LED technology to use within our range of lanterns. The new LED unit has been designed with the ability to retro-fit into existing lanterns. Due to developments with LED technology, please refer to the website for the latest information and products available. 7

COLUMN DESIGN Important points to consider at the column design stage Decorative attachments to our lighting designs are becoming increasingly popular. These can range from simple banners to hanging baskets or complex Festive decorations.

We supply a full in-house column design service to make sure that all of these factors are considered.

If you want to have the option of making attachments a feature at some point in the future but not necessarily right away, it is important to take this possibility into account at the column design stage. Should this not happen, it is likely that attachments will not be possible for reasons of safety. Factors to take into account > > > >

Diagram A Column has been designed to accept post top bracket and lantern. Diagram B Column has been designed to accept post top bracket and lantern with the addition of hanging baskets. The column whilst having the same diameters as diagram A has thicker walls thus making it heavy duty. Diagram C Column has been designed to accept post top bracket and lantern with hanging baskets and the addition of a banner. Due to the additional loadings placed on this column, shaft and base diameters have had to be increased thus spreading the load over a wider area.

Our lighting engineers have experience of working on a vast range of schemes. Over the years they have gained an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of all of the factors that have to be taken into account to ensure our solutions deliver optimum energy efficiency whilst meeting the highest environmental and safety standards. COLUMNS, PEDESTALS AND EMBELLISHMENT KITS Metcraft columns, pedestals and embellishments are designed to both complement our luminaires and give a strong traditional appearance. In places rich in architecture, choosing the correct columns and lanterns can further enhance the feel and look of the area. Restoration of Westminster Bridge Lighting Institute of Civil Engineers Merit Award Winner

Refuge lighting column, Liverpool 2020 Liverpool with the help of Metcraft have restored one of the cityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s last remaining refuge columns at the junction of Robson Street and Mere Lane. Originally installed in Victorian times to light small pedestrian islands that provided a refuge for pedestrians crossing the road, these splendidly ornate columns were once found throughout Liverpool. Now only four survive. For the project Metcraft provided new electric lanterns to match the originals and also replaced missing and corroded parts of the column with accurate copies.

Jubilee Clock, Isle of Man The Jubilee Clock is located in the Isle of Man capital of Douglas. It was donated by GW Dumbell in 1887 as a commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria's reign. It is located at the foot of Victoria Street and Loch Promenade. Over a 100 years later Metcraft Lighting where commissioned by the Douglas Corporation to restore the jubilee clock to bring it back to its former glory as part of the townâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Centenary Celebrations. For this project Metcraft dismantled the clock, installed new mechanism and bell, shotblasted the tower and made repairs before putting the newly restored clock back into place and painting it in time for the celebrations.

BESPOKE PROJECTS Whitehall, London This project required us to replicate a column and adapt an existing lantern from within our range.

City of Westminster, London This project combined both our bespoke and refurbishment services. It featured a large and small range of lanterns, brackets and columns that we restored and manufactured to the City of Westminsterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s unique designs.

Avenham Park, Preston This project required us to replicate a column and adapt an existing lantern from within our range.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES

CAD DESIGN We provide a full in-house design service using the latest CAD packages. Lanterns, columns, brackets and plinths can all be designed and manufactured to meet your specific criteria in ways that enhance the surrounding environment. Our bespoke services can also be used to match unique historic designs in need of restoration, refurbishment or replacement, such as those found in the City of Westminster.

PATTERN MAKING Working alongside our bespoke design team is a full pattern-making service. In addition, we have a wide range of standard patterns that can be customised or used in their current form.

VACUUM FORMING To ensure strength, durability and vandal resistance all Metcraft lantern units are available in UV stable polycarbonate. Patterns for large and small quantities can be manufactured for bespoke design lanterns.

SHOT BLASTING Shot blasting can be performed on or off site to suit your individual requirements.
