“The developments the city has been making have been positive,” Weber said. “There are multiple different things the city has been improving upon or adding to, and the city doesn’t show any sign of relaxing anytime soon.” Citizen feedback is not the only way Fishers residents can voice their opinions on what is happening in the community. Ideas shared by either personally talking with Fadness or online, helps determine what Fishers could look like in the years to come. It is important for residents of Fishers to know what is happening around the Fishers area. “Residents can provide their comments and what they think about Fishers and what it should like in the years to come,” Fadness said. “Then we incorporate these ideas in the pitch to the council”. The benefits of these developments are what keeps Fadness and council pushing for these changes to happen. Benefits such as a more physically sustainable environment and an increase in revenue to pay police and firefighters are what keeps the city of Fishers moving in a positive direction. A more resident based benefit would be that with new developments such dynamic restaurants with a culinary sense and more entertainment places will lead to more younger generations to move to Fishers. It is important for the culture of Fishers to attract younger generations because without these new

attractions, there is no room for Fishers to evolve and continue to become better than before. With all these benefits for the developments planned for 2020, the Fishers community should not expect the developments to slow down or come to a complete stop. Developments not only in the things that are in Fishers, but as well as in the attitude of the citizens in Fishers will continue to be pushed for. In fact, a goal of Fadness is when he leaves office he hopes that he is leaving behind a community who welcomes change and embraces it fully. This way future ideas for the community of Fishers will be welcomed by all citizens. “When I leave office, I hope I would’ve helped develop a culture and an environment where change isn’t viewed as a scary word,” Fadness said. “[In 2030] I think you see a very dynamic city that is constantly changing and evolving.” The community of Fishers will continue to push for change and that is something that will continue to be a main value for the community of Fishers. Story by Emily Crousore and Danielle Wetzel.
