Many artists don’t have a clean space to work on projects. Ignite Fishers allows people of all ages to work and display their art. Located at the Fishers Public Library, it is on the bottom fl oor and has the same opening and closing hours. Ignite provides art kits with various supplies that people can check out with their library card. The kits are made for everyone from amateur to professional levels. Some of the kits available include calligraphy, watercolor, origami, oil pastels and colored pencils. Since kits cannot be taken home, they provide a large makerspace where people can paint, sew, work on ceramics and sketch. Also located in the main space are storage lockers people can check out and an art exhibit space. Near the back of Ignite is an audio visual production lab which includes audio and visual equipment, a mixing console, microphones, lighting equipment, cameras and a green screen. To go along with the production lab there are also four digital media labs equipped with Macs with Adobe Creative Cloud installed. Finally, there is a fabrication lab equipped with 3-D printers, a vinyl cutter and a laser engraver. People should purchase or bring their own materials since they are not provided. Guests need to enroll in a certifi cation class in order to use those equipment pieces. Certifi cation classes happen once a month along with various other events. Story and photos by Kyra Jones.
