Work Life Balance for me is a work in progress, I have been allowing myself some downtime, during which I squeeze in my hobbies, vacation and just maintain a little distance from work for a while

Everything that comes your way is an opportunity to learn something new, and if you are not successful at it in the first attempt, it is just another lesson

Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration or mentor in your journey, and how have they influenced your approach to work and leadership?

My parents have been my biggest source of inspiration. I have inherited the qualities of punctuality & humility from my mother and meticulousness & determination from my father. In professional stint my managers, HOD and colleagues have been a great influence in my approach towards work. All my managers have been supportive enough to let me learn things at my pace, especially when I initially started my professional journey, and encouraged me to take bigger responsibilities Our HOD and his team members are the one who introduced the HR Management Trainee Program, through which I was hired and trained to have a smooth transition from campus to corporate. And all my HR colleagues who currently work along with me, and the ones who have worked with me in the past, they all have been a great support.

My ground rule is not to go for the bare minimum to just finish my tasks, but to be better at it with every new opportunity.

Q: What drove you to succeed, and what do you think made you stand out for this award?

I'm deeply honoured to be nominated for the HRAI 30 Under 30 award and incredibly grateful to my mentor, Priya Sunil, for this recognition. My path to HR was unconventional I have an MSc. in Biology from BITS Pilani and no formal HR degree or MBA Yet, my passion for helping people realise their potential and find their place in a competitive job market is what has driven me forward I started as an intern with little knowledge of HR, but a lot of enthusiasm and a strong desire to make a difference What truly shaped my path were the remarkable leaders who looked beyond my qualifications and saw my passion and potential. Their belief in me, despite my limited experience, was a game-changer. To my fellow HR professionals: let’s focus on passion and purpose over pedigree. That’s where real success begins. A significant part of my journey has been collaborating with startup founders and HR mentors who view HR as a strategic partner. They believe in creating a people-first culture that drives meaningful, lasting impact This perspective has been crucial in shaping my approach and success

Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration or mentor in your journey, and how have they influenced your approach to work and leadership?

Growing up in a family that deeply values financial independence and hard work has been a true blessing. The women in my life my mother and sister have been my greatest mentors. They’ve each carved out incredible careers through sheer determination and an unwavering drive to grow. My mother has been teaching for over 30 years as the Head of the English department, touching countless young lives Even as she approaches retirement, her passion for teaching remains unshaken, and she plans to continue her work

beyond retirement. My sister, on the other hand, has built a remarkable career in finance and venture capital over the last decade. Now, she’s poised to channel her extensive experience into creating something entirely her own Their journeys have profoundly shaped mine From them, I’ve learned the value of never letting complacency set in No matter how much you’ve achieved, there’s always more to reach for They’ve instilled in me a deep sense of ownership, accountability, and an unrelenting drive to improve These lessons are the foundation of everything I do.

Q: What advice would you give to other young professionals who aspire to achieve similar success?

To young professionals aspiring for success, my advice is to start by deeply understanding yourself your passions, motivations, and longterm goals. Reflect on questions like: What are your biggest ambitions? How do you see your life unfolding over the next 20 years? What are you willing to invest to achieve a fulfilling life? Answering these will guide you in choosing the right companies and roles that align with your aspirations Ideally, work should feel more like a journey towards your goals rather than just a job Find a role that not only helps you grow but also feels like a natural extension of your personal ambitions. Find a workplace that values the unique strengths you bring, where you don’t have to constantly reshape yourself to fit in. Identify what truly motivates you whether it’s financial reward, a high-growth environment, work-life balance, expertise, or leadership. When you pinpoint your drivers, everything else becomes clearer. This clarity will fuel your passion and purpose, making your journey to success both impactful and fulfilling

Q: How do you balance ambition and personal growth with maintaining a healthy work-life balance?

One rule I live by is that ambition and personal growth should never come at the expense of your mental health. It’s crucial to grasp this early in your career to avoid burnout. The best workplaces recognize that ambitious individuals need room to thrive both inside and outside the office. For instance, if you’re passionate about painting or running marathons, ensure you carve out time for these pursuits they recharge you and keep your creativity flowing Setting boundaries is another key to maintaining a healthy work-life balance This means knowing when to say "no" to additional tasks that stretch you too thin and when to postpone non-urgent requests For example, if you’re consistently asked to work overtime, it’s okay to set limits and prioritise your well-being. Surrounding yourself with mentors who model these healthy boundaries can be invaluable. They can guide you on how to balance ambition with self-care, ensuringyou don’t just succeed but also stay well and fulfilled.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the next few years, and how do you plan to continue growing and making an impact in your field?

I’ve always believed that real success in an organisation comes from understanding the bigger picture. That’s why I’m committed to exploring every part of HR not just Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partnering, but also HR Operations, Engagement, and L&D so I can grow into a well-rounded People Success Leader. For me, growth means understanding the full picture driving business outcomes while supporting the people who make it happen Pursuing an MA in Human Resources and Labour Management at TISS feels like the perfect next step, as it aligns with my vision of creating peoplecentered, impactful leadership

Let’s focus on passion and purpose over pedigree. That’s where real success begins.

He further went on to pursue his Post-Graduation from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in ‘Training and Development’. Being a millennial himself, he loves mentoring and interacting with the young minds and has won recognition and accolades for his work and contribution around Freshers Training Program at Mastek. His passion for training is deeply rooted in his family's teaching background. He is a firm believer of Henry Ford's quote: "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young."

Q: What drove you to succeed, and what do you think made you stand out for this award?

I attribute this award to my varied experience into sub-domains of Learning and Development (L&D) function, whilst specialized focus on Freshers training into L&D, that’s always being open to opportunities coming my way though some might not be directly inclined to my role In the process, my constant effort is also on achieving the defined output, rather than just outcome This helps in clearly measuring the success achieved, sometimes through measurable matrix This also helps me to highlight the statistics and compare it competitively with the industry.

Apart from this, I have been quite open to investing in upskilling myself to keep up in the VUCA world. As the saying goes –‘Investment in learning always gives the best returns!’

Additionally, I firmly believe that taking complete Ownership and Accountability of one’s role will always help to climb the ladder much faster

Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration or mentor in your journey, and how have they influenced your approach to work and leadership?

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to encounter many people who significantly shaped my journey and facilitated my learning at every step

In my personal life, my biggest inspiration is my parents, who have steadfastly supported me in all my decisions

Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of

working with several leaders on strategic initiatives, but I want to highlight my current manager, Mrs. Madhavi Juttiyavar, and my former manager, Mr. Sanjay Talreja. They have been the backbone of my career; achieving what I have would have been impossible without their guidance. Their transparency and willingness to help their function grow, their passion and determination towards their work, their trust and empowerment to their team members are some of their noteworthy management styles which I admire and strive to emulate I can truly say they transformed me from a clueless beginner into a rising star in the corporate world!

Q: What advice would you give to other young professionals who aspire to achieve similar success?

I encourage young professionals to:

- Embrace opportunities with enthusiasm and passion

- Take full ownership with accountability

- Approach your work with unwavering determination

- Seek collaboration and support from mentors, leaders, and teammates

- Identify at least one role model in your field to inspire and guide you.

In today's VUCA world, HR/L&D professionals must be agile and proficient with tools like Power BI, HRIS, and LMS to streamline daily tasks. The era of HR roles as mere data operators is over; the Gen-AI landscape requires more skills. Young professionals have a unique opportunity to adapt before it’s too late it's survival of the fittest!

For those whose degrees are not in HR/L&D, it’s important to take time to consider if this is the right career for you Reflect before making

a decision and once you commit, stay focused juggling two paths can hinder your progress

At an early career stage, it’s equally crucial to interact with peers and colleagues in person After the end of global pandemic, while some organizations require in-office work and others offer flexibility, I believe young professionals should prioritize in-person interactions. This not only boosts engagement but also provides extensive insight into how the organization operates on the ground.

Q: How do you balance ambition and personal growth with maintaining a healthy work-life balance?

I believe setting boundaries at work is crucial for maintaining personal life, family, and friendships. This requires effective planning, time management, prioritization, and overcoming procrastination. While I’m still mastering these skills, they should always be a priority.

For me, discovering and engaging in painting and sketching has been a wonderful escape from work Many people find it difficult to occupy their free time, which can lead to overthinking or extended hours at the office By pursuing my interests outside of work, I’ve created a healthier balance and become less reliant on others to fill my downtime I’ve also noticed that on most Mondays, I feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle the week ahead, rather than stressed about returning to work.

I would like to also highlight that it is utmost important to keep healthy work-life balance, failing which it’s easier to get burnout which only leads to decreased productivity and each day seems like a ‘Monday Blue’

By pursuing my interests outside of work, I’ve created a healthier balance and become less reliant on others to fill my downtime.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the next few years, and how do you plan to continue growing and making an impact in your field?

As I continue to develop my skills and knowledge in the Learning and Development (L&D) function, I am eager to delve into the integration of new technologies within this field. I particularly aim to explore how to effectively leverage Generative AI alongside existing HRIS and LMS tools. By focusing on automation of routine tasks, I want to free up valuable time to concentrate on strategic planning and execution

My goal is to enhance overall effectiveness and drive impactful results in L&D initiatives Embracing these innovations will not only improve operational efficiency but also enrich the learning experiences we offer, ultimately contributing to a more dynamic and responsive organization.

My ability to adapt HR strategies to diverse cultural contexts and my commitment to fostering a sense of community and belonging through initiatives like Employee Resource Groups have been particularly impactful.

Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration or mentor in your journey, and how have they influenced your approach to work and leadership?

Throughout my professional journey, I have been fortunate to have several mentors who have guided and supported me at crucial moments. Three individuals, in particular, have played a significant role in shaping my approach to work and leadership.

First, Bob Philip, who recognized my potential early on, trusted me with opportunities that allowed me to explore various aspects of HR He encouraged me to enroll in a leadership

development program at a very early stage of my career. This experience was pivotal in helping me visualize and plan both my professional and personal journeys.

Second, my husband, Ragul, has been a constant source of support and wisdom He always knows exactly what I need to hear at the right moment, keeping me focused, humble, and grounded Ragul’s belief in my abilities has been instrumental in building my confidence and ensuring that I stay on track to achieve my goals without becoming overwhelmed.

To young professionals aspiring to achieve similar success, my advice is be grounded in patience, consistency, and balance First and foremost, stay loyal to your knowledge and skills, but also trust the process and the company you are part of Not everything will fall into place as quickly as you might hope; be patient and allow time for growth and opportunities to unfold.

Consistency and responsibility are key. Be diligent and committed to every project you handle, delivering your best effort while learning from each experience. Hard work is crucial, but it’s equally important to set boundaries During your working hours, give your tasks your full attention, but once you log

out, make time for yourself and your family Balancing work with personal time helps maintain a positive mindset and prevents burnout. Stay focused on your goals, but also remember to enjoy the journey. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and continuously seek to evolve. With dedication and a balanced approach, you’ll find success while maintaining your well-being and enjoying the process.

Q: How do you balance ambition and personal growth with maintaining a healthy work-life balance?

Balancing ambition and personal growth with a healthy work-life balance is a constant process that requires careful planning and support.

I prioritize my work using the Kanban method, which helps me stay organized and ensure that tasks are completed ahead of deadlines.

This approach, combined with the unwavering support of my team, has been instrumental in managing my responsibilities effectively

Returning from maternity leave was a significant challenge, but I am ever grateful to my company, Biocon Biologics, for providing flexible options that allowed me to transition smoothly back into my career.

My husband, my greatest cheerleader, ensures I succeed by offering the support I need, while my mother-in-law takes care of our 1-year-old baby, allowing me to focus on my passion.

The drive and passion I bring to my work stems from my mother, who always encourages me to challenge myself and evolve rather than stay comfortable

With this strong foundation of support and careful planning, I am able to pursue my ambitions while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the next few years, and how do you plan to continue growing and making an impact in your field?

In the coming years, my primary focus will be on advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), with particular emphasis on hiring more candidates with special abilities and supporting mental health for employees facing microaggressions I aim to deepen the integration of equity and inclusion into our organizational culture by expanding Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to address diverse needs and fostering inclusive leadership programs

Tailoring global DEI strategies to be culturally relevant across regions is key to creating environments where diversity is celebrated, and all employees feel valued.

In terms of employee experience, I plan to leverage digital transformation to enhance the employee journey, personalizing experiences and refining engagement strategies through AIdriven tools and data analytics. Additionally, I will implement new well-being programs that address mental, physical, and financial health, with a strong focus on supporting those affected by microaggressions

Continuous feedback mechanisms will be strengthened to ensure that employee voices shape workplace culture in real-time.

My bother-in-law, a guiding figure since my school days, has been a constant source of inspiration, always believing in my potential, even when I faced academic struggles
