‘I love Robert Thorogood’s writing’ Peter James ***

It’s been an enjoyable and murder-free time for Judith, Suzie and Becks – AKA the Marlow Murder Club – since the events of last year. The most exciting thing on the horizon is the upcoming wedding of Marlow grandee, Sir Peter Bailey, to his nurse, Jenny Page. Sir Peter is having a party at his grand mansion on the river Thames the day before the wedding, and Judith and Co. are looking forward to a bit of free champagne.

But during the soiree, there’s a crash from inside the house, and when the Marlow Murder Club rush to investigate, they are shocked to find the groom-to-be crushed to death in his study.

The study was locked from the inside, so the police don’t consider the death suspicious. But Judith disagrees. As far as she's concerned, Peter was murdered! And it’s up to the Marlow Murder Club to find the killer before he or she strikes again… ***

How to Kill Men and Get Away With It

Katy Brent

Meet Kitty Collins. FRIEND. LOVER. KILLER.

Have you ever walked home at night, keys in hand, ready to throw a punch in self-defence? That’s how it all started. The killing spree, I mean.

I sort of tripped into this role… Literally. The first one was following me. That guy from the nightclub who wouldn’t leave me alone. I pushed him, he stumbled, and fell onto his own broken wine bottle. Oops. It was such a waste of a good house white.

But now I can’t seem to stop and nor do I want to… I’ve got a taste for revenge and quite frankly, I’m killing it

A deliciously dark, hilariously twisted story about friendship, love, and murder. Fans of My Sister the Serial Killer, How to Kill Your Family and Killing Eve will love this wickedly clever novel!

The Garnett Girls is Georgina’s first novel and is set on the Isle of Wight, where Georgina and her family have a holiday houseboat called Sturdy. Georgina’s main residence is a houseboat in the River Thames, where she lives with her partner, two children and Bomber, the Border Terrier. You can find her as @PublicityBooks on Twitter and @georginamooreauthor on Instagram.

Margo and Richard’s love affair was the stuff legends are made of – forbidden, passionate, allencompassing. But ultimately, doomed.

When Richard walked out, Margo shut herself away from the world, leaving her three daughters, Rachel, Imogen and Sasha, to run wild.

Having finally put the past behind her, the charismatic Margo holds court in her cottage on the Isle of Wight, refusing to ever speak of Richard. But her silence is keeping each of the Garnett girls from finding true happiness.

The eldest, Rachel, is desperate to return to London, but is held hostage by responsibility for Sandcove, their beloved but crumbling family home.

Imogen, the dreamy middle child, feels the pressure to marry her kind, considerate fiancé, even when her life is taking an unexpected turn.

Liz Fenwick is an award-winning novelist born in Massachusetts. She made her first trip to Cornwall in 1989 and lost her heart to the Duchy and to the man who is now her husband. Merry is used to men double-taking when she walks into a room. There aren’t many female geographers in the Naval Intelligence Division, and few mapmakers can match her skill. So when a family crisis calls her back to Cornwall, a landscape she knows well, and she is expected to work with a team running secret flotillas to northern France, Merry is prepared for the comments she gets from her fellow officers.

But, with a war underway, not everything she faces will be as clear and simple as the maps she draws, and Merry soon finds herself facing a situation that will challenge everything she holds dear when she meets an enigmatic, handsome American officer…

As the OG influencer, with over 40 million followers across the social media spectrum, the book will create a frenzy upon publication, appealing to an entire generation of women who came of age in the early 2000s. The name recognition, her decades in the spotlight, and the range of celebs featured in the book and with whom she has connections guarantees to garner a frenzy of attention.

COMPELLING HONESTY: For a generation of young women, Paris is the girl they grew up with. She’s the girl everyone wanted to be. Now at the age of 41, they’ve watched her go from teen to adult, crash and tumble, re-invent herself, launch a successful billion-dollar empire, and get married. Her every move has been documented on the internet and on social media. Now, in Star, that generation of women will hear more than the sound bite, more than the Instagram post. They will hear what it was like to be in the middle of a changing cultural landscape, beloved and reviled at the same time. With the same depth and raw honesty as Jessica Simpson’s Open Book, Star redefines Paris Hilton as she redefined celebrity.

REACH AND RECOGNIZABILITY:

Paris Hilton boasts a massive social media following, one that we will have full access to as we move up to and into publication of her memoir. In 2006, she created Paris Hilton Entertainment, a multi-billion-dollar company consisting of 45 branded stores, 19 product lines and 27 fragrances, which have surpassed over $4 billion in revenue. Because of the success of her brands, we will be able to work with Paris and her team to plug into these relationships with messaging about the book.

Behind Paris Hilton’s meteoric rise from Upper West Side club kid to household name lies her self-proclaimed 'superpower' of ADHD and a hidden history that traumatized and defined her. Shocking, funny and surprisingly profound, Paris is the deeply personal memoir of the ultimate It Girl and a stunning inside view of a pop culture phenomenon.

Until, in a revealing documentary, she disclosed that her childhood was shattered by two years of strip searches, isolation, beatings, restraint, and brainwashing within the now infamous 'troubled teen industry', Paris Hilton was simply the billionaire heiress America had watched grow up on television, on the internet, and in tabloids. But there was always more to Paris Hilton than met the eye. Yes, she is the media personality, DJ, entrepreneur, model, singer, actress and icon beloved all over the globe. And yet . . .

Paris is the story people have always wanted Paris Hilton to tell – the story of who she really is. In this revealing and thought-provoking book, Paris will separate the creation from the creator, the brand from the ambassador, and show the woman who grew up with incredible privilege, but who was also trapped in a world of unreasonable expectation at a moment when young women were humiliated for sport in a gossip economy on steroids. Paris recounts her perilous journey through pre-#METOO sexual politics with grace, generosity, and plenty of fun, rising above a series of heart-wrenching challenges to find healing, lasting love and a life of meaning and purpose.

The parallel story arcs in Paris’ braided narrative come to full bloom as a watershed portrait of the Noughties, challenging each of us to question our role in her story and her role in ours. The result is an intimate and unexpected memoir about persona and personification, the price of being young and disobedient, and the complexity of manifesting your dreams after watching part of yourself disappear.

Biography and autobiography

Soho House’s editorial director and former award-winning style director for GQ and style director for British Esquire, Teo van den Broeke, is an expert on style. Teo is also a contributing writer at the Financial Times, a brand consultant, as well as an awardwinning podcaster.

The Closet

Teo van den Broeke

For readers of quality memoir and anyone interested in the LGBTQ+ experience and fashion.

We would look to harness Teo’s connections to build noise around publication, including the likes of Dolly Alderton, Graham Norton, Andrew Scott, Russel Davies, Munroe Bergdorf and more.

•Teo has written for a number of national and international titles including The Times, Guardian, Telegraph, Observer, Evening Standard and Wallpaper.

•Teo has nearly 40k followers on Instagram and as the Style Director for GQ, is well connected in the media.

•Andrew Scott (of Fleabag fame) will be reading the audiobook.

· The Closet could be a good contender for prizes, including the Polari Prize.

Throughout his life, clothes have provided an outlet through which journalist Teo van den Broeke understands both himself and the world around him.

From the blue princess dress he coveted as a child, that first led him to question whether he was ‘normal’, through to the Nike cap and Gucci loafers he wore to impress the men he first desired, fabric has long enveloped and shaped his formative moments.

Using the wardrobe of his past as a lens through which to explore the myriad trials and tribulations of adolescence, The Closet charts Teo’s growth from uncertainty to self-acceptance. Courageously recounting his sexual awakening, the all too familiar hesitancy around his adult future – and his many, often tumultuous, relationships with family and friends – Teo learns that it is only in celebrating our differences that we can learn to fully embrace the brilliance within ourselves.

Biography and autobiography

Kate Lucey is an experienced digital journalist, public speaker, and panel mediator and has worked with brands from Cosmopolitan to The Sunday Times Style to advise on how to effectively talk to millennials. She regularly writes about mental health for a range of publications and is currently living in Paris. Get a Grip, Love is her first book.

Get a Grip, Love

Kate Lucey

•We have never been in more need of mental health help. Prescriptions for anti-depressants are at an all time high, and 1 in 4 people in the UK alone will experience a mental health problem each year.

•Since 2013 millennials have seen a 47% increase in depression diagnoses, with 7 in 10 now reporting to having experienced a mental health issue. This generation is also changing the narrative on depression, being more willing to speak about mental health issues and therapy than any before. This is a book for those people.

•This is the first book to address the accusations that are made about ‘entitled millennials ruining everything’ who are also struggling with mental health problems. GET A GRIP, LOVE will allow its readers to feel the way they do, and give them responses to others telling them to ‘get a grip, love’.

•Mental health writing continues to be a trend. The enduring popularity of Bryony Gordon, Matt Haig, Dolly Alderton and others shows an appetite for relatable stories around this subject.

•Kate Lucey is a well-connected journalist. She was ex-editor of Sugarscape.com and Cosmo.co.uk, and is now a freelance editor writing for, among others, Sunday Times Magazine, XXX, and has a regular column as the mental health writer on the Metro.

Be a Grown-Up

We’re all talking about mental health a lot more now than we were ten years ago, which is great . . . isn’t it?

Kate Lucey has been ‘officially’ depressed (as in, diagnosed) for six years. In that time she’s experienced everything from bad therapy, knock-out meds, and friends-with-too-many-opinions, to good therapy, medication, and solutions that actually work.

This book recognises that getting help is not as easy as ‘just telling someone’ or ‘taking some pills’. It weaves real peoples’ experiences of depression with the opinions of actual qualified experts and facts from scientific studies to create a no-nonsense guide to mental health.

Funny, irreverent, and relatable, Get a Grip, Love also tells you what to say to those mates who fancy themselves as amateur psychologists, and speaks honestly about how it feels to live with a mental health disorder.

Crucially, as well as poking fun at mental illness and all its absurdities (because what are we without laughter, hey?), Kate reminds you that it’s fine not to feel ok. That you can go back to crying at any time. And that you do not need to get a grip.

'Clever, kind, funny and wise, this book is an uplifting and useful addition to your self help library. Kate's voice is such a big, positive part of the evolving mental health conversation. This book made me feel like I could actually survive 2020. It's brilliant.' Daisy Buchanan, How to Be a Grown-Up

‘In her wittily titled no-nonsense guide to mental health, [Kate] writes about her experiences of depression with insight, honesty and even humour.’ Independent

‘A quirky, candid memoir … This will have huge appeal to anyone who feels they’re at rock bottom; it will also enlighten their friends.’ Evening Standard

‘A raw, honest, necessarily uncomfortable and funny insight into depression.’ Jo Usmar, This Book Will Make You Happy

‘Ridiculously addictive to read. Wildly creative and wickedly funny’ Laurie Elizabeth Flynn, author of The Girls Are All So Nice Here

Robin and Ellie have been best friends since childhood. They’ve been through everything together, from Robin coming out to the death of Ellie’s dad. But when Ellie asks Robin to be her maid of honour, Robin is reluctant.

It’s not that Robin isn’t happy for Ellie, she just hates everything about weddings and marriage – plus the guy Ellie’s engaged to. There’s also the matter of the crazy (not to mention dangerous) wedding rituals that couples are resorting to in the hope of securing a lifetime of happiness.

Despite her misgivings, Robin finally says yes. But as the wedding day approaches, she gets the feeling that everyone in the bridal party is out to get her. And it seems Ellie is willing to do anything for the perfect day. After all, marriage is about sacrifice…

Readers are saying ‘I do’ to So Happy For You!

‘I was utterly ADDICTED to this book! Honestly one of the craziest and most unique books I’ve read in a long time, like straight out of a Black Mirror episode!’

‘A wild ride of party buses, queer identity politics and attempted murder that actually says a lot about the intense, sensual and sometimes BS-crazy world of female friendship’

Well written with a dark and compelling plot and well developed characters all wrapped up in a chilly envelope . . . I couldn't put it down’

‘Brilliantly witty and entertaining’ Sarah Stovell, author of Other Parents

‘Hilarious . . . Laskey is a magician, combining the important social commentary this genre needs with a knock-out page-turning narrative that will leave you guessing to the last page.’ Chelsea Bieker, author of Godshot and Heartbroke

‘So Happy for You skewers the wedding-industrial complex with uproarious bitterness and gleeful fury, and a spiraling absurdism that will leave you wondering whether it's all that absurd after all. If you've ever gritted your teeth through a nightmare wedding, this one's for you. A firecracker of a book’ Micah Nemerever, author of These Violent Delights

‘Magnificent. Celia Laskey has masterfully crafted the tense, messy, big-hearted, and deeply original queer love story we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for, as much full of human characters as incisive social commentary. I can’t wait to see what Laskey gives us next.’ Peter Kispert, author of I Know You Know Who I Am

"Celia Laskey's sly thriller completely transfixed me from beginning to end. Tart and playful, this tale of a wedding weekend gone fatally wrong is part psychological game, part societal inquest, and part best friend break-up from hell. I loved this trim and thrashing read.’ Amy Jo Burns, author of Shiner

•Offers a fascinating insight into Sylheti culture and community.

•Backdrop of the family-run Indian restaurant enhances the storytelling with mouth-watering descriptions of food and cooking.

David Koepp is a celebrated American screenwriter who’s written more than two dozen feature films in a wide variety of genres, including the first two Jurassic Park films, Death Becomes Her, Carlito’s Way, The Paper, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, Panic Room, War of the Worlds, Angels and Demons, and Inferno. Some of the films he’s both written and directed are Stir of Echoes, Secret Window, Ghost Town, and Premium Rush, the latter two co-written with John Kamps. Koepp is also the author of the novel Cold Storage. He lives in Santa Barbara.

David Koepp

• A riveting, eerily plausible thriller about a worldwide blackout and the lengths one family go to stay alive.

• Aurora is an inspired mix of a high concept premise and a small-town setting, with wonderful, complex characters, reminiscent of Stephen King.

• The premise – a worldwide blackout that lasts for years – is very much based on fact. A previous storm (the so-called Carrington Event) occurred in the 1850s, and the next one is long overdue.

• This is the perfect read for fans of films like Greenland, and books like The World We Leave Behind and The End of Men.

• David Koepp is one of the most successful screenwriters working today, known for his work with Steven Spielberg and Brian DePalma.

• Cold Storage was greeted by a raft of acclaim from writers like Blake Crouch, Douglas Preston, and Stephen King.

• Shortlisted for the CWA Steel Dagger Award for Best Thriller of the Year, Cold Storage has now sold nearly 50,000 copies in the UK.

Soon to be a film from Netflix and Oscar-winning director of The Hurt Locker Kathryn Bigelow.

‘Fantastic story, a real page-turner. Impossible to put down’ Stephen King

When the lights go out no one is safe…

A planet without power.

When a solar storm hits the earth, the lights go out across the planet. But this time the blackout won’t be over soon – it could last for years. Aubrey and her stepson now face the biggest challenge of their lives.

A society without rules. Soon they hear rumours of riots, the struggle for food becomes real, and even within their small communities, the rule of law is collapsing. Wendy is lonely but coping. All nineteen-year-old Wendy wants is to drive the 255 bus around Uddingston with her regulars on board, remember to buy milk when it runs out and just to be okay. After her mum died, there’s nobody to remind her to eat and what to do each day.

And Wendy is ready to step out of her comfort zone. Each week she shows her social worker the progress she’s made, like the coasters she bought to spruce up the place, even if she forgets to make tea. And she even joins a writers’ group to share the stories she writes, like the one about a bullied boy who goes to Mars.

But everything changes when Wendy meets Ginger. A teenager with flaming orange hair, Ginger’s so brave she’s wearing a coat that isn’t even waterproof. For the first time, Wendy has a real best friend. But as they begin the summer of their lives, Wendy wonders if things were simpler before. And that’s before she realizes just how much trouble Ginger is about to get them in…

An unforgettable debut novel from the winner of the Primadonna Prize 2019 which will stay with you long after the last page.

You can choose your house. Not your neighbours.

WELCOME TO YOUR DREAM HOME…

Salma Khatun is extremely hopeful about Blenheim, the safe suburban development to which she, her husband and their son have just moved. Their family is in desperate need of a fresh start, and Blenheim feels like the place to make that happen.

MEET YOUR NEW NEIGHBOURS…

Not long after they move in, Salma spots her neighbour, Tom Hutton, ripping out the anti-racist banner her son put in their front garden. She chooses not to confront Tom because she wants to fit in. It's a small thing, really. No need to make a fuss. So Salma takes the banner inside and puts it in her window instead. But the next morning she wakes up to find her window smeared with paint.

AND PREPARE FOR THE NIGHTMARE TO BEGIN…

This time she does confront Tom, and the battle lines between the two families are drawn. As things begin to escalate and the stakes become higher, it's clear that a reckoning is coming… And someone is going to get hurt.

A gripping thriller about nightmare neighbours, Those People Next Door explores the loss of innocence and how far we’re prepared to go to defend ourselves and the people we love.

Under the Cretan sun, in the summer of 1936, two young people fall in love…

Eleni has been coming to Crete her entire life, swapping her English home for cherished sun-baked summers with her grandfather in his idyllic shoreside villa. When she arrives in 1936, she believes the long, hot weeks ahead will be no different to so many that have gone before.

But someone else is visiting the island that year too: a young German man called Otto. And so begins a summer of innocence lost, and love discovered; one that is finite, but not the end.

When, in 1941, the island falls to a Nazi invasion, Eleni and Otto meet there once more. But this time Eleni has returned to fight for her home, and Otto to occupy it. They are enemies, and their love is not only treacherous, but also dangerous. But will it destroy them, or prove strong enough to overcome the ravages of war?

An epic tale of secrets, love, loyalty, family and how far you’d go to keep those you love safe, The Echoes of Love is an exquisite and deeply moving love letter to Crete – one that will move every reader to tears.
