PONTOON & DECK BOAT STAFF

CAPTAIN’S CHAIR

“I wasn’t able to even drive a car, much less ride on a boat. In a lot of ways it felt like I was on home arrest, minus the felony.”

MY BUMMER OF A SUMMER ENDS WELL

“It is not how you start the race or where you are during the race – it is how you cross the finish line that will matter.” This quote from Robert D. Hales took on a different meaning for me after my summer was unexpectedly hijacked. I had such high hopes back in the spring as we headed towards boating season and warmer temperatures.

In April I took delivery on a brand-new M24 demo boat from Bennington Marine and was about to purchase a season pass to our nearby launch ramp when my plans drastically changed. This beautiful boat was on loan for the summer and I was looking forward to putting the throttle down on the Yamaha 250hp outboard, but life had a different plan.

Despite my best attempts to downplay the numbness in my hands, my grip strength was getting weaker with each passing day to the point where I could no longer ignore my symptoms. After multiple doctor visits for second and third opinions, it became painfully clear cervical spine surgery was in my future. I finally conceded to orthopedic surgeon Rob Johnson that I needed to have two deteriorating discs replaced in my neck. Admitting I needed surgery was a big step for me, but it was the timing that was the real sacrifice. I suggested to my doctor that October would be a good month to do it. You know, after boating

season seemed like a good time frame to plan for.

I’ll never forget the look he gave me, which quickly followed with a stern warning that delaying the surgery even a month could lead to permanent nerve damage. He didn’t care that I had a pontoon that hadn’t been in the water yet; he was determined to fit me into his busy schedule the second he had an opening.

On May 8, I went under the knife after decades of avoiding overnight hospital stays. Not too shabby of a way to kick off my first surgery, right? What followed was 13 weeks of sleeping in a recliner while wearing a full neck brace 24/7. I wasn’t able to even drive a car, much less ride on a boat. In a lot of ways it felt like I was on home arrest, minus the felony. It quickly became known internally as my “bummer of a summer” and mentally it was much more difficult than I could ever have imagined to put my life (and boating) on hold to give my body a chance to recover.

I was finally cleared to get back to living a more normal life the first week in August, with of course plenty of restrictions. They say not to ask a question you don’t really want to know the answer to, so I just assumed Dr. Johnson was good with me going boating after giving me the thumbs up to start driving my truck again. I did wear my neck brace on the boat the first time out as a precaution since lakes can get choppy, but I

had no issues or setbacks; it just felt therapeutic to be back on the water again. Lesson learned: I will never take for granted how important boating is to me.

I spent the rest of August trying to make up for lost time by hitting the lake as many times as I could, but it wasn’t until Labor Day weekend that I truly felt normal again. As I was out on the boat and surrounded by my family, the same quote–that it’s not the way we start that matters, but how we end–took on a new meaning. Yes, my summer didn’t start as I had anticipated, but as we anchored in a cove during the three-day weekend my boating season was ending perfectly. I had quickly made up for lost time as I went out boating as often as I could in August. Over Labor Day weekend as I floated in the water, watching my kids and nieces jump off the LilliPad Diving Board over and over, I realized I no longer felt sorry for myself for having a shortened boating season. I’ve since made a full recovery, the strength in my hands has returned and other than a minimal scar on my neck, most people would never know about my bummer of a summer. I couldn’t have reached this point without the support of my dear wife, my children and my close friends and extended family who sacrificed as well this summer to help me recover. Labor Day wasn’t the finish line to my boating season, but it did feel like I had crossed some type of line that weekend. Nothing brings friends and family together like boating, and I understand that better now than ever. After 25 plus years in this industry, boating is more that just a career path. Being out on the water is my passion, my therapy, as well as my greatest resource for my wife and me to keep close and connected to our children. The season has now wrapped up for me, but is it bad that I’m already looking forward to the next summer?

BETTER BOATER

READY TO TUCK YOUR BOAT IN FOR THE SEASON?

EASY STEPS TO PREP YOUR BOAT FOR WINTER

Before I became a boat owner, my winterizing routine included topping off my van’s windshield wiper fluid and tearing out the spent pumpkin vines from the garden. Now that I’ve added a pontoon boat to my list of happy possessions, things are a bit more complicated. But still doable!

Here’s a simple checklist on how to prepare your boat for winter storage, whether you’re keeping it on your towing trailer or taking it out of the marina for the first time since your spring launch.

CLEAN & DRY EVERYTHING

Ironically, the thing that can cause the most damage to your boat is water. So wherever you’re choosing to overwinter your boat, make sure your boat is fully cleaned, dried, and winterized before temperatures drop. Drain the bilge, water tanks, head, and livewells, as well as anything else that may hold water, such as a misting system. Thoroughly clean the interior and exterior of the boat to prevent mold and mildew. Empty storage compartments, remove all trash, vacuum up the sand, and don’t forget those moldy old beach towels. Spray off the hull with an acid-based cleaner if needed and consider polishing the pontoons and giving painted surfaces a coat of wax.

PREP THE ENGINE

Flush both the engine and the coolant system with fresh water to remove existing salt, dirt and corrosion. Make sure to drain all water. See your owner’s manual for specific instructions and complete fogging if needed. Depending on the type of engine and cooling system, you may need to add antifreeze. Change the oil in the engine and add an oil stabilizer especially for marine engines. This will give an added layer of protection from dry starts and excess friction when you first launch in the spring.

STABILIZE THE FUEL SYSTEM

During your last fill up, add a fuel stabilizer to preserve both the fuel and the fuel tank for the upcoming months. Fuel stabilizers will clean and lubricate fuel pumps, carburetors, injectors and compression rings. Fill your gas tank to 90 percent capacity, which will prevent excess water condensation building up during storage. Run the engine, checking the timing and basic operations. This will also help distribute the fuel stabilizer throughout the fuel system.

REMOVE BATTERY & ELECTRONICS

Extreme cold can lead to cracked or drained marine batteries, so store them in a warm, dry place along with any removable electronics. This will protect them from the elements and extend their lives.

COVER YOUR VESSEL

Protect your boat from animals, debris, and the weather with a good cover. Cheap tarps can often do more harm than good, often tearing under the weight of snow or causing wear on surfaces with their abrasive filaments. If your boat came with a cover, make sure it’s adequate

for your area and will protect your boat while still allowing a bit of breathability to avoid moisture buildup and mildew. Often, it’s a good idea to place any cushions on an edge or lifted up with small blocks so there can be airflow over more surfaces and into storage compartments.

DON’T DELAY

Be careful not to wait too long to prep your boat for winter, or you may find yourself standing in the snow, tempted to skip a few important steps. Tuck your boat in well so it’s clean and ready for your adventures next spring. It’ll be here before you know it!

NO WAKE ZONE

FISHING ON THE FLY

Have you ever been on a sunset cruise and realized too late the fish are crashing bait all around you, but you’ve forgotten to pack your fishing gear? With the new JC TriToon Floor Lid from Boat Outfitters, a division of Teak Isle, you can always have a little tackle and a few rods tucked safely away so you can fish on the spur of the moment. While most floor lids limit your storage options, the JC Floor Lid includes mounting holes for rod holders. The holders can fold out of the way if you want to store other items in the area, but are perfect for rods when needed with Teak Isle’s Lock and Load bungee push-in system, which will hold rods securely in place. ROOFTOP FLY ROD CARRIERS

Get rain or shine protection from the elements for your fishing rods with Yakima’s DoubleHaul or TopWater rod storage systems. Perfect for fly rods, the DoubleHaul mounts simply to most roof racks, can be configured for either 11-foot or 6-foot-long rods, and is able to transport four fullystrung rods at a time.

For non-fly-fish-specific storage, the TopWater storage system can carry up to eight fully rigged-up fishing rods of any style, which are up to 8 feet long. From spin to bait casting to fly rods, protective foam pads and retention straps keep rods and reels safely suspended in place without getting banged around or entangled.

ENHANCED OVERNIGHT BOAT COVERS

Perfect to use during boating season when you want something quick and easy to protect your boat from debris, droppings, and damaging UV exposure, Blue Sky Covers are a soft-shell boat cover convenient enough for daily use with new updated technologies. The covers are made from a lightweight, four-way stretch fabric and take less than 60 seconds to put on.

The active venting design uses a micro mesh center panel to increase air flow, allowing your boat to dry out after a day of use, and hourglass curved seams allow for maximum fabric stretch and reduced seam stress. A UPF 30+ blocks 97 percent of harmful rays from damaging your boat, and the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment allows dew and light rain to bead off as weather improves, though the cover can be damaged if left on during repeated rainstorms. BOAT SHOW

SNEAK PEEK AT WHAT’S COMING

NEXT

For some, boating is a year round adventure. However, for the majority of boaters who live in sun-starved regions, the boating season has an expiration date. Let’s be honest: the cold months we endure between summer seasons can be brutal, which only makes winter feel longer.

Time can appear to tick by slowly after we winterize our boats and the only thing that seems to help get us to spring is boat show season. You can find a boat show practically every weekend starting in January and it’s not the overpriced hot dogs that get us to these convention centers and fair grounds. It’s the chance to see the new models that the pontoon and deck boat manufacturers have been working on and we’re just as excited as you are to see these boats in person.

To help get you properly prepared for January, we’re offering a glimpse of some of those new models and significant changes coming for model year 2026. Think of it as a boat show preview or a sneak peek at what’s new in our segment of the boating industry.

NEW Build

ALERA MARINE

A lot of excitement in the pontoon segment for Alera, a brand-new manufacturer entering the pontoon market in 2026, yet backed by a core management group who have been in the boating industry for decades. One new model the Indiana-based manufacturer is offering is the M 25L with the Spectre Tower.

The Alera Model M 25L proves pontoons can be both bold and brilliantly functional. At its heart is the exclusive Spectre Tower, a sleek aluminum-arch design with power-actuated folding, an integrated one-touch Bimini, with courtesy lighting throughout. Large docking grab handles, accent-colored panels, and the ability to mount RGB-lit, 360-degree Roswell arch speakers make it as practical as it is eyecatching.

On deck, the 25L’s quad-lounge layout delivers wraparound comfort, anchored by a deluxe helm with a 12-inch Simrad display and Roswell R1 audio system. Smart details such as Alera’s patent-pending fuel fill through the ski/tow bar, a wide-step Lewmar ladder, and an easy-access trash system, show Alera’s commitment to making every moment on board seamless.

With premium craftsmanship, innovative features, and entertainment that surrounds you, the Model M 25L isn’t just another luxury triple toon – it’s a showcase of design leadership and intentional detail built for boaters who expect more. (www.aleramarine.com)

AVALON PONTOONS

Adding a further floorplan to the exquisite design and sophistication of the Excalibur, Avalon is rolling out the Excalibur QLSW for model year 2026. The versatile flip-flop bench seating with a reversible backrest allows passengers to face forward while cruising or effortlessly switch to a rear-facing position for relaxing at anchor. This floorplan was first introduced last year on its Catalina and LSZ models with huge reception from customers, quickly becoming top sellers. Now the well-loved floorplan will be incorporated into Avalon’s flagship carbon fiber model.

The LSZ Entertainer also received a huge refresh for 2026. The aft of this model now boasts a spacious table surrounded by comfortable booth seating and a versatile flip-flop rear bed and bench. This expands on the entertainer versatility by offering flexible seating arrangements perfect for dining, socializing, or lounging.

EVOTTI BOATS

Technically Evotti is a brand new boat manufacturer who is entering the pontoon industry for the first time in 2026. While its large Indiana-based campus, never before seen luxurious models rolling out the door daily, and a freshly released company name suggests they are just starting out, they don’t come across as newbies. Far from it, actually.

With high quality construction, innovative features and a management team made up of respected marine enthusiasts with decades of pontoon-specific experience, Evotti looks and feels like a manufacturer who has been building boats for years.

Founded by a team of pioneers with a combined 500 plus years of industry experience, Evotti is determined to transform the pontoon boating industry.

“We’re not just building boats—we’re building better experiences,” said Andrew Bona, Evotti. “With the combined expertise of our team, we know exactly where the industry has fallen short, and we’re here to deliver solutions that will raise the standard for performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.”

The company is also making a clear promise: to be a true partner to both dealers and retail customers. By focusing on trust, transparency, and long-term relationships, the brand aims to set itself apart not only in product quality, but also in the way it supports its partners.

For model year 2026, Evotti is offering its 500 and 700 Series of pontoons in a variety of layouts and sizes including its Convertable Stern (CS) and Quad Lounge (QL) floorplans. Both lines include Evotti’s EVO3 hull, lighted power Bimini, EVO fender flips, LilliPad Marine ladder, mid-ship cleat, elevated helm and other key standard features. The higher-end 700 Series comes standard with a 15-inch Widescreen Garmin at the helm, JL Audio sound system with sub and amp, wireless phone chargers throughout, glass windscreen and other luxurious upgrades.

Evotti is worth looking for as you head to the early boat shows, and don’t forget to watch for its hidden logo. Easter egg is the slang term used for something extra hidden within a film for viewers to see if they can find it or not. Evotti engineers must be fans since the new lineup includes some playful or clever surprises with the subtle ways its logo appears. Obvious logo

placements can be found at the helm chair and in the furniture, but a closer look reveals the logo is hidden in its exterior rail design, grab handles, fender holder and in other locations.

LANDAU BOATS

Ensuring its most popular line of pontoons stays on top, Landau has completely redesigned the interior of the Island Breeze line. New furniture designs are available in four colors—grey, white, taupe, and cognac—with three new exterior color options—sage green, matte black, and mocha–for a high-end look. The furniture now has built-in cupholders in the couch backs and the console figuration includes in-dash multi-function displays with an option of a Lowrance 5-inch Eagle or a Simrad 7-inch NSX. All 25-foot models are now rated for 250hp with a GPS speedometer coming standard. All 2026 Landau models will include the Landau Link App, which includes 24/7 live customer service, emergency mechanical helpline, battery monitoring, GPS tracking, and an anti-theft mode for safety and security.

FLAMINGO MARINE

For pontoon enthusiasts not familiar with Flamingo, it’s only a matter of time. Entering the pontoon segment in 2026, the manufacturer is bringing true innovative features to its rOhm pontoon that have never been seen before in our niche of the industry.

Known as the Flamingo Five, the Wisconsinbased builder is coming out hot with five key innovations that may leave you wondering how you lived without them before. For starters, the dual windshields convert into serving counters. Enjoy the windshields while underway, but convert them to a serving counter when lounging for additional space when entertaining.

In the bow are two lounge tables that are perfectly hidden below the seat cushions that when deployed can be used separately or brought together to form a large gathering table. When not using the tables, they can be returned to under-the-bow seats without sacrificing any storage and the cupholders on each side of the table are still accessible for passengers although stowed. Worth noting, despite not having a traditional table pedestal, the table is solid and as stable as a permanently mounted one, which makes it that more impressive.

We’ve seen multi-purpose stern lounges before, but nothing quite like the MegaLounge with a dynamic floorplan. As a nearly infinitely variable rear seating lounge, you can face bow, stern, port or starboard, in sunpad, couches, or chair formats. You no longer have to choose between having two bench seats in the stern, or one rear lounger. It can adjust on the fly to accommodate your needs, making this one of the most versatile floorplans available. The innovative design Flamingo offers with its rOhm pontoon transitions consumer thinking from ‘or’ to ‘and’ as they no longer need to choose.

As a perfect complement to the

VANDERBILT

NEW Build

MegaLounge, the back panels or “wings” in the stern fold down to provide additional floor space and drastically improve your water access.

Lastly, included in the Flamingo Five is innovative storage. Your inflated tubes or boards often get in the way, but because the MegaLounge is adjustable, you can position the seating to create unique storage space for your water toys.

When comparing the rOhm 24 to a traditional 26-footer, the deck space drastically improves from 97 to 150 square

There is an exciting release for model year 2026 as Vanderbilt is introducing an entirely new line of premium pontoons, the L Series. Available in two layouts (Ultralounge and Quad Seating) and offered in 23- and 25-foot lengths, the standard tripletoon chassis with 25-inch diameter pontoons features its patented Serenity Drive (the extended center tube) that provides the smooth handling and responsive performance Vanderbilt is known for. All four models in the L series provide a range of 115hp to 300hp engines.

L23 QS and L25 QS, quad seating layouts with four loungers, come standard with a long list of features including dual high-back helms chairs with adjustable height, 12.3inch digital touchscreen and QMI multi-flex hydraulic power assist steering. The L23 UL or L25 UL (Ultra Lounge) layout includes dual high-back helm seats with slider swivel and adjustable height, two bow loungers and a large aft flip-back multi-position lounger. A 9-inch Simrad with GPS also comes standard along with QMI multi-flex hydraulic power assist steering and JL Audio system with Bluetooth and four 6.5-inch speakers. (www. vanderbiltpontoons.com)

feet (over 50 percent), table and counter space from 6 to 19 square feet (over 300 percent) with the water frontage jumping from 28 feet to 56.5 feet (over 100 percent). Simply put, more seating versatility, lounging area and entertaining options.

For model year 2026, the rOhm is available in 22, 24, and 26-foot lengths and available with Mercury or Yamaha outboard power ranging from 150hp to 500hp. Base price for the 22-foot model starts under $100,000. (www.flamingo-marine.com)

GODFREY MARINE

For Godfrey’s model year 2026, both the Sanpan and the Monaco series have been refreshed. Sanpan, being its oldest series first launched in 1958, has become the pinnacle of modern, refined luxury.  On the luxury line, a new helm, fiberglass rails, standard trash inside the helm, and push-button bow and port gates have been added to Sanpan models for the upcoming year.

Monaco is the series that many refer to as “Value Luxury.” In other words, it is a step up from Sweetwater in size and comfort, and has more standards, but is still priced for the midrange. Monaco has a new rail design and graphics packages, a new bow gate, trash with a flapper pass-through on the helm door, and an updated helm. Plus, now standard is a 5-inch Lowrance unit, or you can upgrade to a 7-inch Simrad or Garmin; or you can have the MFD deleted if you don’t have a need for a unit and want to save a little.

New for Monaco, AquaPatio, and Sanpan, Godfrey has moved the fuel tank to the center of the boat.  This improves the ride due to the improved center of gravity, to help counterbalance the increased weight of higher horsepower engines. A new Elite Tower and Grand Luxe Arch that can be used across Monaco, AquaPatio, and Sanpan has also been added. (www.godfreypontoonboats.com)

JC TRITOON

Known for having a solid foundation, it was only a matter of time until JC TriToon launched a dual engine hull package option for its impressive line of pontoons. The first-ever twin beauty package includes a 100-gallon fuel tank standard, along with a custom ski/tow tower that spans the width of the stern. With this much power, that ski/ tow bar was clearly a must.

It also features its beefy stainless steel Heavy Duty Super Ladder that has been improved with 6-inch step treads for easy and safe access to and from the water. The Dual Engine goal for JC TriToon is to establish redundant power on big water with the added benefit of additional speed. (www.jcpontoon.com)

MONTARA BOATS

Adding a fresh new model to its lineup, Montara’s EVO joins the award-winning Montara 2.0, but as an even more luxurious alternative. The EVO takes Montara’s proven wake-generating hull and EVOLVES the appearance with new interiors, fence styling, and color. The EVO Fence styling is available in five solid colors: white, deep burgundy, gunmetal grey, navy blue, and black. Rich interior color combinations coordinate much more easily with the new fence colors, including a mocha interior with bronze accents, beige with bronze accents and two shades of grey with a corresponding charcoal accent.

Featuring a completely new fiberglass helm, the EVO has hydraulic steering and a new seat base that eliminates that tube-style pedestal, which makes the driver’s seat feel much more secure. Bow eyes come standard with high intensity docking lights, as well as a split back Stern Lounge seat that accommodates forward-facing passengers and rearfacing passengers simultaneously. For MY26, Montara has added Coosa Fiberglass flooring to replace the marine plywood. Liquid propulsion stern thrusters are a standard feature on every Montara to provide greater power and equal thrust to port and starboard.

QWEST PONTOONS

Answering the call for a more compact, budget-friendly platform, Qwest proudly introduces the 2026 C-Class. Featuring 14-foot, 16-foot, and 18-foot lengths, an analog helm, and 8-foot-wide platform, it’s everything you need for a perfect day on the water—no frills, just pure enjoyment. Starting with the 2026 model year, customers will also enjoy a 6-year bow-to-stern warranty on factory-installed features, and a limited lifetime structural warranty for the original owner, covering essential components such as pontoon tubes, decking, and motor mounts.

Among a bevy of new updates, Qwest is also unveiling an Electric Outboard package with the Ilmor Ion—a state-of-the-art electric motor featuring integrated power trim, a digital display, RGB LED cowl lighting, and 9.9hp equivalent performance. The package includes an EPOCH 105 ah 48-volt battery and charger, making sustainable boating more accessible than ever.

Revolutionary hull technology paired with electric steering is at the heart of Qwest’s performance revolution. The larger, lower center tube lowers the boat’s center of gravity, creating a stable pivot point for confident cornering and smoother rides.

Other updates include bold color options in cool-touch vinyl and flooring choices so you can personalize your style with brandy tan and sleek black cool-touch fabric and black cool-touch woven flooring for comfort and flair. New, smooth aluminum wall panels offer not just a clean look but also effortless cleaning and modern aesthetics. The all-new digital command says goodbye to mechanical switches. All M-Class models offer advanced electronic control over lighting, audio, and navigation, with multi-location access for seamless convenience. (www.qwestpontoons.com)

REVEL BOATS

NEW Build

SEA-DOO

A lot of exciting things are in store for 2026 for the Sea-Doo Switch lineup. The biggest news might just be its 300hp engine with a larger fuel tank. The Rotax 1630 ACE 300hp engine with a 46-gallon fuel tank provides higher top speed and faster acceleration. It’s available on Switch Cruise 21, Switch Cruise LTX, Switch Sport 18-21, as well as the Switch Fish 21.

Rear corner doors on all Cruise and Cruise Limited models are also new and will help ease the boarding experience and provide better accessibility to the swim platform. The tilting handlebar on models with 230hp and up allows for better ergonomics and more flexibility for the captain. Speaking of the captain, the bigger 10.25inch screen on a variety of models with tech package improves visibility of the gauges.

Launched earlier this year, Revel Boats is a completely new brand from the Correct Craft family that enters the market with bold solutions ready for adventure.

One of Revel’s most significant innovations is the Revel Steptoon, engineered with the Revel Tracking System (RTS) to set a new benchmark for pontoon performance. This advanced hull design reduces drag, delivers higher top speeds, and improves handling at both cruising and high speeds. Revel’s RTS brings agility that most pontoons can’t match. “It’s a pair of tracking fins mounted outside the center tube that help by holding the boat tight through turns,” Jared Lacefield, sales director of Revel Boats said. The result? A pontoon that handles more like a sport boat—turning on a dime and docking with agility.

Skipping the entry-level and focusing on discerning buyers, Revel’s lineup includes customization options and an interactive Design Your Revel online tool, which allows users to build and rotate a 360-degree view of their boat, customizing everything from layout to color and features. Revel’s RS25 model resets the standard in luxury and performance. With more seating, ample storage, and premium features, the RS25 offers the perfect blend of comfort and excitement. The comfortable aft lounge seat comes standard with four interchangeable positions to suit any activity from socializing to tanning. The convertible co-captain seat is perfect for both socializing and relaxing so you can sit next to the driver for conversation, or lounge out and enjoy the view.

The RS25L model brings your Revel to the next level with the Mercury 300 Verado engine, but you can upgrade to a range of high-performance Mercury outboard engines up to 500hp. These engines are built for superior speed and power. The RS25L has a custom-designed windshield that fits perfectly with the unique shape of your pontoon, and its sleek telescoping tower lowers at the push of a button, even while underway. (www.revelboats.com

The new and optional Front Dodger acts as a windshield and protects your from rain and wind. The best part is that it stows in the Bimini top storage compartment to optimize on board layout without altering your field of vision when using. There is also an improved mooring and trailering cover to protect your boat.

New LinQ accessories include a Rear Floating Mat Holder that quickly attaches and secures your floating mat to the rear deck of the Switch as well as a BBQ table with LinQ Lite. Other new changes include a pop-up changing room that stows under the seats but can be quickly installed to the Bimini structure with simple strap attachments. A compact 13-foot Switch Fish with a 170hp engine is now part of the lineup, along with a new Neo Mint color exterior color across the board. (www.sea-doo.com)

NEW

AWARD-WINNING TACKLE FOR ‘26

Each summer, fishing tackle manufacturers large and small head to Orlando, Fla., to showcase their latest products at a trade show called “ICAST,” which stands for the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, produced by the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), the sportfishing industry’s trade association.

Making up a special section of ICAST’s show floor, is a “New Product Showcase” that features the tackle industry’s latest innovations. CLiX Fueling Solutions

My cringe factor bumps up to unsafe levels when I see fuel spilling into the lake at marina gas docks. Not that I don’t trust the 16-year-old summer help who is gassing up my pontoon, but I usually insist on doing it myself to avoid fuel contaminating the water. What’s my secret? Why am I able to remain worry-free while pumping my own fuel? It’s because I discovered a simple, yet effective tool that every boat should come standard with.

The CLiX fuel spill prevention product is simply brilliant and earned a lot of attention at the 2024 IBEX Show. The Arthur Edison LLC device known as CLiX, received the coveted NMMA Innovation Award that year, which kept Howard Silverstein and his brother Steven very busy in their booth all week.

After talking with the brothers I knew I needed to try it out for myself to confirm it really works as well as they said it did and I’m happy to report this product is legit. CLiX allows you to refuel your boat with ease and precision without the fear of overflow. It takes the stress and mess out of boat fueling by keeping the fuel in the tank, not on the boat or in the water.

The custom-made material even has an additive to reduce the risk of sparking when fueling, because safety is always a priority. The best way to describe the ease is to

compare it with gassing up our vehicles. The self-shutoff fuel nozzles at my local station work great when fueling up my truck. The CLiX (priced at $29.95 and made in the USA) allows the marina pump self-shutoff to work the same way for your boat when the stakes of overflowing are much higher than just spilling on the gas station asphalt. Priced well and designed for years worth of fill-ups, CLiX is the real deal.
