Do you ever wonder how your school tax dollars are being spent? Are you getting enough “bang for the buck"? Do you question what the school kids are learning? Is the school system child centered? Are the schools preparing our young people to be productive members of society? What do all those numbers in the financial reports mean?

Educating our children is a large topic The Texoma Patriots are planning a panel discussion to talk about issues dealing with our local public schools They have invited a member of the Sherman ISD administration, a member of the Denison school board, a member of Friends of Texas Public Schools, and a representative from the Texas Public Policy Foundation to be a part of the panel

The conservative organization is inviting everyone to join them tonight, Monday, July 29 at 7 pm at Buck Snort BBQ in downtown Van Alstyne

"We believe you will find the discussion interesting and of utmost importance to you," said Kaaren Tueber in a written statement

Everyone is welcome and there is no charge to attend and no reservations required.

The Patriots ask those that are planning to attend to come early and dine before the meeting Jim Smith opens the buffet line at 5 pm and offers a special price for those attending the meeting

Football Reserved Seating

Persons who had reserved football seating from last year have until August 1, 2019 to renew their seats On August 6, 2019 reserved seating will be open to the public for purchase

Reserved seating of $25 per seat assures you a designated seat for the varsity games for the five home games of the season

Howe Enterprise to partner again with Athletic Booster Club for "Black and White" football program

Game admission tickets are $5 00 for adults and $3 for students and must be purchased at the gate. Reserved seats may be purchased at the high school office

In 2018, The Howe Athletic Booster Club collaborated with the Howe Enterprise for content to be included into the annual football program The makeover of the program resulted in a new title "Black and White" which resulted in over 80 pages All of the funds received from the program sales and ads go to the Howe Athletic Booster Club

The Enterprise will be adding 20 pages of content including a front page that highlights the history of the football program through 75 season There will also be a story recapping each of Howe's first 14 seasons before the program ended after the 1948 season

One page will feature information about Bulldog Stadium which is the oldest active stadium in North Texas behind the Cotton Bowl in Dallas

The publication will feature yearby-year results, helmet logo history, all-time won-lost records, all-time records versus opponents, playoff history, playoff records, coaching history and records. There will also be a page featuring the history of the Victory Light and a page dedicated to the history of "Spike" the mascot.

The Howe versus Van Alstyne "Silver Spike" rivalry is outlined on its own page with scores from each game and a history of the rivalry

Team photos of championship teams take up several pages starting with the 1936 team which was the first district champion through the 2016 area champion team

The back page of the program will be dedicated to the seniors with photos of them on the historic Bulldog Stadium turf hand-inhand The program will be on sale at each home games for $5
