Annual Downtown Howe-lloween Festival on Saturday, October 26

During this event, kids can trick 'r treat throughout the downtown area where vendors are set up on the streets In the past, several local churches have set up fall festival-like games for kids to play

As of right now, no chamber event is planned for the month of November, however, the Christmas parade will soon be around the corner and Howe has once again designated the second Saturday of December to host the parade In keeping with tradition, Howe's parade will follow Anna's and Van Alstyne's and will begin at 4:30 pm The chamber board members are discussing a different route this year as the middle school parking area has become a little crowded for the growing parade That coupled with youth basketball playing games that day at the gym made the board members consider a lineup and start from Bulldog Stadium to loop through downtown and back to the stadium
The chamber welcomes business members as well as individual memberships The business rate is $75 and individual rates are $25 The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)6 non-profit and is run by a volunteer board including President Robert Cannaday Other board members are Susan Garcia, Sergio Garcia, Sarah Whitt, Tom Defrange, Sheryl Bentley, and Monte Walker

Some of the scammers will become hostile and threaten you with jail if you refuse to immediately pay, while others may tell you that you are due a large tax refund, while attempting to gather personal information from you
Indicators that you are being scammed:
• A threat to have you arrested for refusing to pay
• A demand for immediate payment by debit, credit, or wire

Local DISH retailer helps all-star youth baseball family
When a grandmother looked for assistance to help her grandson travel with his little league baseball team to an out of town allstar playoff tournament, she got more than expected Theresa Rowland Pfeiffer put a small notice on social media and posted on Cavender Home Theaters
Facebook page Owner Chris Cavender took notice He and Pfeiffer were school mates from first grade through graduation Pfeiffer and her husband Jay are also loyal Dish customers of Cavender’s for many years
Pfeiffer’s words on Facebook, “As you may know, the Howe 7U-8U All-Stars have advanced to the state tournament in Texarkana on June 29 They are in need of donations to offset the cost of travel, food and motel for 15 boys and their families Any amount would be appreciated If you chose to donate, checks should be made out to Howe Youth Baseball ”

Since we couldn’t sponsor the whole team, and Pfeiffer’s grandson Price Hays #2 would be playing in the games, Cavender Home Theater sponsored him

Cavender Home Theater has been a Dish retailer in Sherman, Texas since 1996, and a Premier retailer since 2017 A small retailer in a mostly rural area, he still has customers that he signed up in 1996 Cavender attributes the longevity in business to picking Dish as good partner and commitment to service and doing what’s right for the customer
Cavender booked a motel room for three nights during the tournament, supplied gift cards for popular eating chains and supplied a gift card to cover gasoline expenses for the 2.5 hour travel each way to Texarkana, TX, where the tournament was held
Leslie Hays, Price’s mom, was elated and surprised that their needs were met so quickly Cavender said it was fun to help the kids It is rewarding to be a part of the community and help where possible
This was the first time for these players to make the playoffs howeenterprise.com
