Lady Bulldogs blow out Van Alstyne, 12-2 to finish district play

Despite being delayed by one day due to field conditions and despite trailing early in the game, the Howe Lady Bulldogs (13-4) finished out district play by scoring 12 unanswered runs and slammed the door shut on the District 10-3A schedule with a record of 9-3 The losses came to Leonard and twice to Lone Oak

Madisyn Hargrove got the start for Howe Van Alstyne led off the game with a single and took advantage of two Howe errors to score the first two runs of the game But Howe's Erin Blackburn led off the Howe first with a single and would cut the Van Alstyne lead in half on a sacrifice fly to center by

In the bottom of the second inning, Howe not only tied the game, but put together a four-run inning which started again Blackburn driving in Ross on a single Streetman and Stubblefield each singled in the inning which resulted in runs and a 5-2 lead after two

Howe had a five-run fourth inning which started when Kamryn Fulenchek drove in Ross Streetman drove in Blackburn, who had tripled, and Kayla Anderson's single drove in Hargrove who reached on an error At the end of the fourth, Howe led 10-2

Anderson's double in the fifth inning drove in Blackburn and Streetman to give Howe the 12-2 win

Hargrove earned the win for the Lady Bulldogs by throwing five innings, allowing two runs, two hits, striking out seven, and walking one
