you guidance and the power you need to joyfully face each trial that comes your way “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide because there are many who enter through it,”

Matthew 7:13. Obeying God’s teachings; His word, His commands will look like you are swimming in the wrong direction to the world If you are politically correct and agree with the majority of the world you should stop and check your compass

Pleasing the Lord with all I do is the driving purpose in my life

“When you obey My commandments, you remain in My love, just as I obey My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy Yes, your joy will overflow!” John 15:10-11

Loving the Lord isn’t complicated. People measure their love for others by their feelings or emotions That type of love can change with circumstances God remains the same and He tells us to live according to our faith in Him not by our emotions God sees love to Him expressed in our obedience “If you love Me, obey My commandments,” John 14:15 Sadly, many who profess to be a believer and follower of Jesus either don’t know His word, totally disagree with Him or just refuse to obey them To know Him is to desire to know His word He will speak to you through His written word and by His Holy Spirit God’s word isn’t a downer but will encourage you and lift you up He speaks frankly to our wrongs and encourages us when we are on the correct path Your faith in the Lord is expressed by your obedience to His ways If you believe that God is Who He says He is, you will believe that what He says is the authority you can trust and obey Obedience keeps you on the narrow path and will give you confidence to lead others Obedience makes you a doer of the word instead of the armchair quarterback There is no other way to follow Jesus than the commandments His teachings give

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him,” Hebrews 11:6 The only thing that is truly going to compel you to be obedient is your love for Christ You cannot work for God’s love through obedience, but your love for Him will grow as you live in obedience to Him His faithfulness becomes your reality I love God and His Word much more than I did thirty years ago, which has created in me a desire to please Him through my obedience I love the Lord for who He is He knows my every thought and yet He loves me

He’s beautiful and amazing and He loves me He is powerful He created the whole world by speaking it into existence and He sees me worthy of loving He is my perfect Father and He loves me and He loves you just the same Just like a parent with a child, God is saying to each of us, “Why don’t you just do what I tell you to do? Do you not trust that I have your best interest at heart? Have I ever lied to you? Do you believe that I know your situation? Is this too hard for Me to handle? Do I have a good plan for your future?” Whatever God asks you to do, it’s for your benefit When you believe He loves you it will be easy to submit to His direction and authority

He’s not taking things away or giving you a long list of impossible rules to be mean He teaches you what things are good and benefit you and what doesn’t and will harm you God doesn’t want you to be bitter, hurt, resentful, and lost, which often come as a result of disobedience

He wants you to have righteousness, peace, love and joy Make a commitment to obey His Word Read your Bible and anything it says to do or not to do; just simply do that. Start with the clear instructions of the Ten Commandments and go from there Commands are the teachings of the scriptures If there is some verses you don’t quite understand then focus on what you do and seek help with what you don’t Pray and ask God to help you understand God checks our heart and what our motives are He knows when you are honestly seeking to know Him more Remember that even though the instructions are clear, you’re still going to have to be determined to do it It’s a commandment to forgive others but it’s not always easy to forgive those who hurt you Whatever God asks you to do; He will give you the ability to do it The Bible applies to everyone, but the Bible doesn’t give every detail of everything you need to do That’s why we also need to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit His commands are for us all and work for all. Think of the law of gravity That’s a command God set into motion at creation What goes up will come down weather you believe it to be for you are not No matter how many things you need to work on, give them to God one by one and let Him do the work in you As you obey Him, He will help you do what needs to be done one step at a time. Not only will you experience more peace and joy, but your love for God will grow and grow I want you to see Him as He really is; Almighty God His sovereignty is absolute His majesty is impossible to describe His love cannot be measured or contained His mercies cannot be counted and His justice will not be compromised Jesus is Lord “I am the way and the truth and the life No one comes to the Father except through Me,” John 14:6

You are loved by your Creator If you do not have a Bible please contact me at sfadebbie@yahoo com and I will provide you

Calico buttons and calico fabric originated in Kozhikode (also known as Calicut, from which the name of the textile came) in southwestern India during the 11th century It was there that cotton cloth with printed patterns was manufactured and exported to England. Some of this cloth, it is believed, was used in the making of covered buttons When we speak of calicoes today, we refer to china button with printed calico designs These designs are repeated over the entire surface Calicos got their start in 1840 when Richard Prosser patented a method of compressing a fine dry powder into a button, which was then fired The calico pattern was printed in ink on paper that was then laid on top of a tray of fired china buttons As the tray made a second trip through the kiln, heat transferred the inked pattern onto the surface of the button and the paper was burned away

Calico buttons are a type of china button, named after the fabric that it was created to compliment. You can tell the difference between a china button and a plastic button by looking at the back A china button is rough where it sat in the kiln A plastic button is smooth, and may have a small dot where the plastic was injected into the mold China buttons also feel cooler to the touch, if you hold them to your cheek, than plastic.

Wilfred Morgan began the process of identifying and drawing china calico button patterns In 1939 and 1940 he published three booklets illustrating the 293 patterns he had identified.

Calicos are one of the most prized and sought-after of the Victorian buttons A whole cache of calico buttons was found on the wreck of the Steamship Arabia that sank in 1856 in Kansas This places them well before the Civil War

Buttons originally came on a card The purchaser would specify how many buttons they wanted, and the sales clerk would cut off the amount that was needed Many of the carded china buttons that I have seen indicate that they were made in France, in the Bapterosses plant

These buttons come in many different shapes, sizes and colors, and are available in two, three, and four hole Some even come rimmed with metal (these are rare and bring a good price on the market ) About 600 different patterns have been identified The most common calico is a colored pattern on white; however, there is also a white on dark variation It is difficult to find complete sets of these buttons
