Bulldogs start district with 3-2 win
Griffin Underwood had a pretty big day on Wednesday. Early in the day, he found out that he was selected to the first team AllDistrict basketball team for District 10-3A. Later that evening, he was the starting and winning pitcher of Pilot Point to start district play and pitch his first live action of the season Underwood went five innings and gave up one earned run while striking out six and not allowing a walk
The Bulldogs scored in the top of the first inning when Easton Ross walked, stole second base and came home on a ground out by Quinton Harris In the second inning, Tanner Stubblefield walked, Nick Wison singled Stubblefield to third and Brennan Ross brought in the run on a two-out single.

Howe's only other run came in the sixth inning when Caleb Ake had an infield hit and moved to second on a throwin error. Jaden Matthews ran form him as a pinch-runner and moved to third on a wild pitch. David Crees hit into a fielder's choice which came home to try and put the tag on Matthews, but the ball popped free and Matthews was safe at home
In the bottom half of the inning, Pilot Point loaded the bases against lefty Matt Griffin A line drive was driven to right field where Crees made the catch and fired home to Blevins The ball sailed high over Blevins head and the when the runner tried to advance, Blevins slid and fielded the ball and threw to Griffin who was covering home to get the third out. For those scoring in their mind, it was a very rare 9-2-1 double play.
Griffin went on to strikeout two Bearcaststo pick up his second save on the season.
Bulldogs go 0-1-2 in muddy GCEC tournament
In one of the most rainy and muddy starts to a baseball season in many years, the Howe Bulldogs are just now getting to find some things about about their team that they would have already known weeks ago With over 10 games cancelled, Head Coach Torrey Ognoskie used the GCEC Classic tournament to learn what he has
In the first game on Thursday morning, Howe's game with Pottsboro was moved to Pottsboro due to their field being less muddy. Starting pitcher David Crees was excellent in bouncing back from a rough first outing against Bonham. He struck out six and walked two over six innings He gave up just the one run
The defense was excellent behind him by turning a 6-4-3 (RossUnderwood-Harris) double-play to get him out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth inning, but otherwise Crees sailed along smoothly An RBI groundout by Caleb Ake plated the 'Dogs only run With a time limit in tournaments, the game ended in a 1-1 tie Howe's record ws 3-0-1
Howe took on Elysian Fields later that evening and were handed their first loss of the season, 5-3.
