There is no capital without labor. Labor creates the wages that are spent by consumers that drive the economy and generate global capital, national and global economic growth and prosperity where wealth is shared. As our economy continues to trans-

form, the rights of all workers to unionize and bargain collectively, in Texas and across our nation, must be protected. The nature of work and employment are both changing, but our nation's commitment to a safe workplace, fair wages and quality benefits for a fair

day's work must be unchanging. Gig economy employees and those working for tech companies across the nation must also be a part of this basic bargain. Organized labor, our nation's labor laws, and the federal minimum wage

have been important parts of bringing economic justice to our nation. We recently celebrated Labor Day in America, and celebrating holidays is important; but let us not just celebrate Labor Day, let us also prepare to ensure that workers in the new economy are protected as a tribute to the sacrifices of those who labored before them.

Kim Ogg Opposes Bail Reform; Seeks to Execute Intellectually Disabled Man Says His Lawyer

COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT AT LAW #3

JUDGE ERICA HUGHES: “Don’t JUDGE a book by its cover. Unfortunately we have several male Defendants in our court for trial that don’t have any business casual/business attire. Jurors do JUDGE Defendants by what they wear and often have a preconceived notion that they are Guilty. The public defender's office provides a closet for indigent Defendants, but the items are often too big, too small, or too soiled. I’m excited to announce our partnership with Wal-Mart stores and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department. They provided the court with 100 newly packaged shirts and ties to fit all sizes. Thank you to the Wal-Mart Store Manager and Sergeant for providing a solution to a problem that plagues our Criminal Justice System. Now let’s have a fair and impartial trial.” AUBREY R. TAYLOR: “WAY TO GO JUDGE ERICA HUGHES!!!

Kim Ogg, the current Harris County District Attorney, campaigned on the need for comprehensive bail reform back in 2016. However, she is now opposing the proposed settlement of the Harris County Bail Reform Lawsuit saying it goes too far. However, Audia Jones, a former Harris County Prosecutor who is challenging Kim Ogg on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Democratic Party Primary believes it is Kim Ogg who has gone too far. On a side note, the lawyer representing Dexter Johnson says Kim Ogg is seeking the execution of an Intellectually Disabled Man. According to his lawyer, Dexter Johnson is not fit to be executed, cannot name everyday objects, and has an IQ of 70. Early voting for the 2020 Democratic Primary will begin on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
